Hillary Clinton Watch: Is IT Over?

CBS News reports that a top Clinton strategist has told Clinton that she absolutely cannot win the nomination.
As Flap has maintained since the results in Indiana last night.
The likely scenario is that Hillary muddles ahead, wins a few more elections in the next two weeks and then suspends her campaign. In the meantime, Obama will preach Democrat unity, help her pay off her campaign debts and continue to accumulate Superdelegates – sufficient enough to win him the nomination.
Flap thinks her last race will be next Tuesday in West Virginia or Kentucky/Oregon the week subsequent. She might wait until the June 1 Puerto Rico primary or even until Montana/South Dakota on the 3rd.
But, Hillary WILL suspend her campaign sometime before June 10th leaving the summer for Democrat Party reunification.
Stay tuned…….

Hillary Clinton Watch: Dianne Feinstein Wants to Chat
President Bush signs H.R. 4286, bestowing the Congressional Gold Medal in abstensia to Nobel laureate Daw Aung San Suu Kyi in the Oval Office of the White House in Washington, Tuesday, May 6, 2008. Behind him are Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., Rep. Joe Crowley, D-N.Y., first lady Laura Bush, Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and Rep. Don Manzullo, R, Ill.
California Senior United States Senator Dianne Feinstein wants to chat Hillary Clinton up about her Presidential campaign.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), one of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s (D-N.Y.) most prominent Senate supporters, said Wednesday that she will ask the former first lady to detail her plans for the rest of the Democratic primary.
“I, as you know, have great fondness and great respect for Sen. Clinton and I’m very loyal to her,†Feinstein said. “Having said that, I’d like to talk with her and [get] her view on the rest of the race and what the strategy is.â€
Is Senator Feinstein playing the Barry Goldwater role when he went to President Richard Nixon during the Watergate scandal to tell him the game is OVER?
Will Feinstein be the emissary to tell Hillary – YOUR TOAST?
The Fat Lady is starting to warm-up by singing scales.
But, Flap thinks she won’t quit……just yet.The likely scenario is that Hillary muddles ahead, wins a few more elections in the next two weeks and then suspends her campaign. In the meantime, Obama will preach Democrat unity, help her pay off her campaign debts and continue to accumulate Superdelegates – sufficient enough to win him the nomination.
Flap thinks her last race will be next Tuesday in West Virginia or Kentucky the week subsequent.

John Kerry – “Rush Limbaugh was Tampering with the Primary”
In a telephone conference call this morning, Democrat Massachusetts Senator John Kerry blames Rush Limbaugh for Barack Obama’s loss to Hillary Clinton in Indiana last night.
“Rush Limbaugh was tampering with the primary,” Kerry said “If it was not for Republicans taking Democratic ballots, he would have won,” he said of Obama.
(I’m not sure that’s true. The margin was about 18,500; Clinton only got 54% of the Republican votes, which made up 10% of the electorate. If none of those Republicans voted for either candidate, Obama would gain about 10,000. The question really is what share of Clinton’s votes were Limbaugh voters. For them to have provided the margin of victory, by my math, about 38% of all her Republican voters — that’s a lot — would have had to be voting tactically.)
Rush on his show today is playing audio tracks from Chris Matthews calling Hillary’s victory “tainted.” And, Rush is saying he has not received flowers this morning from Team Hillary.
To be a little clearer here, Limbaugh clearly had some effect. And 41% of the Republicans voting for Clinton said they’d back McCain in November — a big number that clearly included some tactically-voting Limbaugh Democrats. But they also included people like the man I quoted yesterday who considered Clinton a preferable second choice to McCain. So don’t give Rush all the credit.
ALSO: A reader points out that some Limbaugh voters are registered independents, possibly increasing the number.
Flap knows it would be hard to quantify the “Operation Chaos” vote in Indiana. The Obama campaign says Rush gave Hillary a 7 per cent bump.
Whatever, the Hillary campaign continues – and more CHAOS to come.

Dental Therapists an Answer to Access to Care – The ADA Response
Aurora Johnson, left, a dental therapist, filled cavities for Paul Towarak, 10, in the village of Unalakleet, Alaska. For more involved procedures, Ms. Johnson refers patients to a dentist. Photo courtesy of New York Times
The President of the American Dental Association responds to the piece that originally ran in the New York Times.Re “Dental Clinics, Meeting a Need With No Dentist†(front page, April 28):
Whether it’s Alaska Natives, residents of other rural areas, nursing homes or other institutions, or people who simply can’t afford care, too many Americans suffer with untreated dental disease.
Unfortunately, some well-intentioned advocates for improving dental access support having people with considerably less training than dentists performing complex surgical procedures.
You characterize our opposition to these experiments as financial self-interest. In fact, we simply don’t want patients exposed to complex surgery performed by people who lack the training to cope with unforeseen complications. And we work every day to find safer, better solutions.
An obvious one is to fully support what’s been proved to work: adequately financed Medicaid dental programs, oral health education, community water fluoridation, school sealant and other prevention programs, and incentives to help locate dentists in underserved areas.
It’s neither right or necessary to relegate people who live far away or who are poor and whose lives are different from ours to a lesser standard of care. A.D.A. members are committed to solving access disparities without needlessly shortchanging the most vulnerable Americans.
Mark J. Feldman
President, American Dental Association
Chicago, May 2, 2008Dentistry is a demanding, exacting profession which requires skill and training. Diluting the quality of this training to provide access to care for patients of lower economic status helps no one – especially those who need the care the most.
Private dentistry with subsidized vouchers for the truly poor, disadvantaged, aged and/or disabled would better enable those folks access to care.

Hillary Clinton Watch: McGovern Tells Hillary to Quit
Former Senator and Presidential candidate George McGovern and Hillary Clinton during happier times
George McGovern is telling Hillary Clinton to quit her Presidential campaign.
Former Sen. George McGovern, who backed Hillary Rodham Clinton, is urging her to drop out of the Democratic presidential race.
McGovern said Wednesday he has decided to endorse Barack Obama.
After watching the returns from the North Carolina and Indiana primaries Tuesday night, McGovern says it’s virtually impossible for Clinton to win the nomination.
McGovern says he is calling former President Clinton to tell him of the decision and adds that he remains close friends with the Clintons.
Flap wonders what Carville will call McGovern?
The McGovern – Obama union is understandable and similar – Obama will LOSE as many states (well, maybe not Illinois).
So, is Hillary Toast?
Her campaign continues…….

Rudy Giuliani on Obama vs. McCain Judicial Philosophy
It is good to hear from Rudy again, particularly in an area where he is extremely well versed – the federal judiciary and the law.
Without a doubt, Rudy is the best qualified of all of the candidates for President in this area and why Flap thinks that, should he want it, will be appointed Attorney General by a President John McCain. Rudy may wish to run for Governor of New York and decline.
During his campaign for the Presidency, Rudy made the case for “originalist” judges and was the most outspoken on the need for conservative appointments to the federal bench. He was endorsed by conservative judicial activist Ted Olson, a former Solicitor General of the United States.
McCain has made a start with his speech yesterday but Flap thinks he would be best to let Rudy do this heavy lifting against the Democrats on this issue during the campaign.

Iran Nuclear Watch: Israel – Iran Could Have Nukes by 2009
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (2nd L) visits the Natanz nuclear enrichment facility, 350 km (217 miles) south of Tehran, April 8, 2008
Israel now believes that Iran with its uranium enrichment centrifuges spinning at Natanz will be able to begin enriching uranium on a military scale this year.
The new assessment moves up Israel’s forecasts on Teheran’s nuclear program by almost a full year – from 2009 to the end of 2008. According to the new timeline, Iran could have a nuclear weapon by the middle of next year.
Iran, a senior defense official said on Tuesday, had encountered numerous technical obstacles on its way to enriching uranium but was now on track to master the technology needed to enrich uranium within six months.
Israel is also concerned that Teheran is developing a cruise missile that can evade interception by the Arrow, the IDF’s anti-ballistic missile defense system. Iran is suspected of having smuggled Ukrainian X-55 cruise missiles and using them as models for an independent, domestic project. A cruise missile, which flies at low altitudes to dodge radar detection and interception, could be used to carry a nuclear warhead.
In the meantime, the United States sits idly by as Iran exports extremists to kill American soldiers in Iraq.
Flap agrees with John Bolton on this one.
So, will the United States continue its emphasis on economic and political sanctions while Iran develops BREAKOUT CAPABILITY?
Stay tuned…….

Hillary Clinton Watch: The Campaign Continues
Although Hillary Clinton is behind in Democrat pledged delegates and lost decisively in North Carolina last night, her Presidential campaign is continuing.
NBC News is reporting that she will resume her campaign today in West Virginia
She’ll hold a “Solutions for the American Economy†event in Shepherdstown at 12 pm ET.
Associated Press: Chelsea Clinton is also scheduled to be in the state Wednesday.
……and Matt Drudge has the following: Senator Clinton has made another multi-million dollar loan to her campaign. She gave $6.4M in the past month and will be giving more… Developing…
Hillary is not quitting and what does she have to lose?Besides the Tony Rezko trial is wrapping up with a verdict within weeks.
Moreover, West Virginia is next in 6 days and Kentucky in 13 days. The polls have her doing well in both states.
In the meantime, she will fight for delegates from Michigan and Florida to be seated and make her case to the Superdelegates that Obama is a flawed general election candidate.
The heat and “slime” will ratchet up from the Clinton Cabal.
The Left is muttering, “sadly no!”

Day By Day by Chris Muir May 7, 2008
The Iron Man turned out to be Barack Obama last night with his decisive victory in North Carolina and his 2 point loss to Hillary in Indiana.
NBC news is reporting that Hillary Clinton who cancelled her morning events late last night has resumed her political schedule and will travel to West Virginia to resume the campaign.
You have to give it to Hillary. She is not quitting – at least for now.
