Barack Obama: ” ‘Well, you know, he’s got a funny name and he doesn’t look like all the presidents on the dollar bills and the five dollar bills…”

Now, wait a minute.

Barack Obama denied playing the race card today.

“I was in union, Missouri which is 98 percent white – a rural, conservative. and what I said was what I think everybody knows, which is that I don’t look like I came out of central casting when it comes to presidential candidates. But that I think that what people are really concerned about, what they’re looking for is fundamental change on the economy, things that are going to help their families live out the American dream.

‘There was nobody there who thought at all that I was trying to inject race in this. What this has become I think is a typical pattern from the McCain campaign, whether it’s Paris Hilton or Britney or this phoney allegation that I wouldn’t visit troops. They seem to be focused on a negative campaign what I think our campaign wants to do is focus on the issues that matter to American families.”

Yet, Obama’s chief strategist, David Axelrod stated this morning:

But Obama’s chief strategist, David Axelrod, acknowledged on “Good Morning America” Friday that the candidate was referring, at least in part, to his ethnic background.

When pressed to explain the comment, Axelrod told “GMA” it meant, “He’s not from central casting when it comes to candidates for president of the United States. He’s new to Washington. Yes, he’s African-American.”

So, Obama’s remark DID refer to his race.

Glad we got this cleared up……

And while we have that cleared up, there’s a small problem that race is back front and center in the MSM. I saw at least 3 articles talking about the Harold Ford Ad and equating that to what the McCain camp is doing now. Shouldn’t McCain be letting this thing drop now and hope the media drops it too? I mean, I don’t see how a discussion related to race can be of help to McCain.

The plan for Obama was to play the race card later in the campaign and then hit McCain over the head with it. You know the ol’ blame and shame game.

But, McCain called him out on it and Obama has been hurt.

Now, when the 527’s start playing the Jeremiah Wright clips in September, McCain will be immune.

Good play by Davis and Schmidt.

It’s time these ads by John McCain & the Republican Party are put away. Stop this nonsense. The Christian Faith people should put a stop to this immediately. Its a disgrace to peoples religious beliefs as a mockery to God & his choosing Moses. No one is above God & Barack knows this. This is mean & hurtful & they should be called on it by coming down hard on McCain. Hillary tried this in the primary by mocking Barack with her statement regarding heavens opening & celestial choirs, etc. She ruined any respect a lot of people had for her then. Personel attacks are outrageous, uncalled for, & I believe Obama has a better chance leading than McCain & he’s definately smarter.

All Obama needs to say in any state, including battleground states is: Are you people happy in the situation your in,
no money, no job, no health insurance, no gas for your car, etc. then vote for me & together we can hope to change your circumstances? If your happy living like that, then you need to vote for McCain because not much will change.

And, Mary, if you think Obama will change anything when elected then think again – long and hard.

the only thing that WILL change is taxes – as in increase for everyone.
