Vice President Ambitions Derailed for Alaska Governor Sarah Palin?

Alaska Governor on Kudlow and Company yesterday discusses her abuse of office investigation and the Vice Presidency

GOP Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, currently tied for third among possible Vice Presidential running mates for John McCain on Intrade, faces a probe into whether she abused her office in order to fire Department of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan.

Will the investigation ordered up on Monday by the Alaska Legislature derail her chances to be named by John McCain?

Probably

The timing could not have been worse for any Palin chance at the Vice Presidency.

John McCain is rising in the latest polls and while Sarah Palin is a rising GOP star she is relatively inexperienced as compared to Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty and former Governors Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee. Plus, Palin is from Alaska where a GOP United States Senator has been indicted on corruption charges – just this week and their lone Congressman (also a Republican) is under FBI investigation.

John McCain and the national GOP will choose a safer candidate – at least for now.

“The decision will rest with McCain and so far McCain does not tolerate much – like any hint at scandal.” Please! McCain took a bribe for Christ’s sake, won’t tolerate much, right. . . He was paid aboutg $100, 000 to try and pull a regulator off of an Arizona developer’s ass and was caught RED HANDED, but Charles Keating fell on his own sword and went to JAIL. You bet, McCain won’t tolerate much, just keep telling yourself that. McCain paints this picture of himself that has been proven to be a simple smoke screen, but idiot’s keep falling for it. But, the most hilarious McCain maneuver of late reminds me of one of the old black & white Bela Lagosi-Dracula movies where someone pulls out a Holy Cross to scare off the vampire’s, well John McCain has done the same thing with his ‘POW status,’ whenever he has been challenged he has been pulling that old saw out playing it for everything he could even pulling it out on Jay Leno. . . McCain has no shame, whatsoever, I believe that man is that ambitious. I recall in his book the paragraph HE WROTE addressing his personal ambition, that is mental… The old guy comes from an era when personal ambition was saluted for it’s own sake, and when most guy’s are thinking about going fishing this old man wants a new career, and it would be one thing if he was just a wealth of new idea’s, but he isn’t he is embracing the worn out ‘ideas’ of the former failed Governor of my home State, Bush, who is incidentally a Connecticut carpet-bagger moved to Texas. . . “Texas is for Texan’s, the rest of ya stay out.” Former Texas State Senator, Big Jess Grigg.

You don’t see the irony here…?

Politicizing of a branch her government (law enforcement via a cabinet oversight)… Bush Admin politicizing the justice system for their own political agendas…

This nomination reminds me of when Bush tried to make Harriet Miers the AG with zero qualification.

PS- Palin has 67% approval, not a 90% like you Lower 48’ers want to believe.

PSS- She had been governor for a year and has basically done nothing. Governor of Alaska is a part time job, it’s pretty boring and quiet up here (I like it that way), and the only thing really going on is oil. We are nothing like the lower 48, there is no cross compatibility. We are basically like our own country which has little in common with the rest of country on a state level.

And… Before that she way a mayor of a village (not a city) that you could liken the one you watched in show Northern Exposure. I’m not kidding.

In terms of being president… I bet at least half of the readers here have just as much if not more qualification, judgment and morality. It would be interesting to have someone from Alaska as VP, but it’s not in the country’s best interest unfortunately, especially not this person.

    @54

Why does your ip address say Atlanta, Georgia?

    Just wondering?

BTW Sarah Palin has more executive experience than Joe Biden and Barack Obama.

I’m part of the public and I’m not singing her praises. She may be qualified to be gov of Alaska, but that’s a far cry from the presidency. I am a woman and I’d love to see a QUALIFIED woman run. Putting her in to appeal to the “Hilary” women is a mistake. Hilary has standing, knowledge and experience and is not an unknown entity to the vast majority of people of in the United States. She is also well traveled. Sarah Palin lives in a state where everyone is her look alike, think alike, walk alike and talk alike. Not at all part of or knowlegable about the mainstream.

If she had been mentioned before in some serious manner, if she had not been shoed in more for what she has than who she is, her femininity, then I might entertain the thought. But the way she was put in, the reasoning behind it reeks of manipulation and the success of dumbing down Americans.

Let’s face it, McCain is dusting as we speak..no offence but reality. So don’t ask yourself if you would vote for her as VP, ask yourself if you’d vote for her as president because that’s likely what you’ll be doing.

I mean, I guess she’s used to those 3am wake up calls as a mother, but she’s also used to doing things while being half asleep (speaking as a mother myself).

This was not a well thought out process of McCain or the republican party heads. It is and shows to be an act of pure desperation. Shame on him for assuming we’re so blinded by hate and rage that we the people and or women would fall for this and shame on her for allowing herself to be used like this. Then again, I guess everyone wants their fifteen minutes of fame, but not like this Palin. McCain, c’mon guy, did you really think we’d fall for this? Then again, I’m amazed at how willingly mindless we have become.

Why do I not read about Sarah Palin’s stand on nature, animals and our environment. Did people all miss what she is doing in Alaska? She has the wolves killed in the most cruel ways possible for profit. She gets support by an outside Safari club who donated around $400,00 to support her killing spree, among other big supporters. She would like to take the ice bear of the endangered list and it goes on and on. She does not care about the future of Amerika or the plante Earth.
She only is out for herself and how to become richer. Her husband is an oil wheel, that must have helped bigh times to make her the governor. Money buys everything and some people sure go for it.
Sarah Palin should not even be allowed to say Hillary’s name, she is really a heartless women and human being, if she is human. Please do not vote for this woman, even if you are republican, you will be sorry, that is unless you are very rich and do not mind to go over dead bodies. After all money is the worlds regent.

how many of you have children? do you concider a situation like this a punishment as barak does?

    how deporable!

a life is a blessing and a wonderful thing and i myself am impressed to see a grandmother to be stand up for it. how many real life people are faced with this situation every single day. the fact is children make mistakes and should learn to be adults and not only learn to live and deal with them but to grow and learn from them.

all these horrible things that were spouted yesterday by the left was just horrible. if it would have gone the other way the media would have had a field day with it. barak should go hold his head in shame for what he was responsible for as these rumors HAVE been traced back to his camp.

i have knowen women who have gotten pregnant at a yopung age kept the baby, finished school and went on to a productive life and never once said it was a mistake. one of those ladies recently had a 16 year old daughter who now has a baby and just finished high school and has a scholarship for her grades.

the more i see of the hypocicy of the left the more i am glad i left them.

by the way she never said we should teach creationism only bring it to debate in schools.

she also vetoed a bill that would have ended any chance of people in civil unions from getting state benefits which actually ended up giving them benefits. get your facts straight before you slander.

more pettyness and lies. look how she distances herself from her brother in law? she takes great pains to twice mention he’s a former bro-in law….fu her. He said she said, beneath the office.

she lied that she didn’t contact him to fire the guy, simply put. Watch out America

Surely all bets are off for you guys now. (I’m British BTW) Certainly from the news feeds coming over on our side of the water (which tend to be fairly unbiased), Obama is cruising to victory. This Sarah Palin is an unknown quantity over here. She’s done nothing of note, and doesn’t do your nations credibility any good at all. (And let’s face it, your credibility across the world is rock bottom at the moment- trust me!)

You need to drastically change your direction in pretty much every area. If the presidency vote was a worldwide affair, there would only be one winner.
