Barack Obama Watch: Another Celebrity Endorsement for Obama
Gwyneth Paltrow leads the charge for Americans abroad to vote for ObamaFlap doesn’t care that Hollywood star Gwyneth Paltrow does NOT live in the United States and supports her American right to vote for whomever she pleases. But, remember when she did NOT get her way (September 14, 2005)?
“…I feel like we’re really in trouble. I just had a baby and thought, ‘I don’t want to live there.’(in the United States). “Bush’s anti-environment, pro-war policies are a dis. . . .â€.
So, it is OK to be against President Bush (she supported John Kerry in 2004) and then let it slip (when no one but foreign press are watching) that you dislike America(ns) or does Gwyneth fear a Dixie Chick moment?
And, when Gwyneth said this:
Oscar-winning US actress Gwyneth Paltrow feels dinner talk is far more interesting in her adopted homeland Britain than back in her native country.
“I love the English lifestyle, it’s not as capitalistic as America. People don’t talk about work and money, they talk about interesting things at dinner,†she told “NS,†the weekend magazine supplement of daily Portuguese newspaper Diario de Noticias on Saturday.
“I like living here because I don’t fit into the bad side of American psychology. The British are much more intelligent and civilized than the Americans,†the 34-year-old added.
Paltrow, who won a best actress Oscar for 1998’s “Shakespeare in Love,†lives in London with British band Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin whom she wed in 2003.
Another celebrity snob for Obama. Not bad for a Californian with a high school education.
Snort…….

Robert Novak Retires
Journalist/Columnist Robert Novak
Robert Novak has decided to retire after being diagnosed last week with brain cancer. His nickname inside the Beltway was the “Prince of Darkness” and after Flap met him at Pat Buchanan’s house in the 90’s I understood the moniker well.
Novak’s prognosis is “dire” and will treat his cancer with radiation and chemotherapy.
A sad day for American political journalism.

John McCain Watch: Kay Bailey Hutchison for Vice President?
United States Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas
Why shouldn’t John McCain consider the senior Senator from Texas as Vice President? An attorney and businesswoman she has extensive government experience. On Fox News this morning former Congresswoman Geraldine Ferraro, a Hillary Clinton supporter and former Democrat nominee for Vice President was talking her up as “her friend.”
Hutchison fits Team McCain like a glove. Should she be excluded because she is a Senator?
If Barack Obama chooses Evan Byah, a Senator from Indiana, Flap bets Hutchison goes to the top of McCain’s list.

An Open Letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi
Representative John Culberson’s Qik Streaming Page reporting the House GOP Don’t Go ProtestThe House GOP revolt over high gasoline and energy prices continues with an open letter to Speaker Pelosi:An Open Letter to Speaker Pelosi
On Friday August 1, 2008, at 11:23 a.m., your Democrat majority in the House of Representatives adjourned the House for five full weeks.
House Republicans believe that Congress should not go on vacation until we take action to lower gas and energy prices for struggling American families.
For the last two months we and our House Republican colleagues have used every tool at our disposal to try and get you and your Democrat majority to vote on legislation to lower gas and energy prices by expanding environmentally sound domestic production of oil and natural gas, improving energy efficiency, and encouraging the development of alternative energy technologies.
Many of the proposals we have asked you and your Democrat majority to allow us to vote on are bipartisan proposals that we believe would enjoy the support of a majority of the Members of the Congress. Yet because you and your Democrat Leadership personally oppose these proposals, you are not allowing them to come up for a vote. This past Sunday, you even told George Stephanopoulos that you will never allow this vote to occur ….
In protest of you and your Democrat majority not allowing an up or down vote on producing more American energy, we and our House Republican colleagues were prepared to take to the floor on Friday, August 1, 2008, and speak to the nation. Rather than allowing that to happen you and your Democrat majority adjourned the House, turned off the television cameras, shut off the microphones and turned out the lights. Nearly 50 House Republicans remained on the floor of the House in defiance speaking to those citizens gathered in the galleries and to the media.
Today we have again returned to the Capitol to continue speaking to the thousands of Americans from all across our country who are visiting the Capitol. We would have preferred if instead we were joined by our colleagues to have a true debate on this issue that ended in an up or down vote.
We think it is unconscionable that Congress has gone on vacation before we have addressed the high gas prices that are crippling our economy and hurting millions of families. We are asking that you reconvene the House from your five-week vacation and schedule a vote on legislation to increase American energy production. Let us be clear, we are not asking for a guaranteed outcome, just the chance to vote.
Signed by: John Boehner, Republican Leader; Roy Blunt, Republican Whip; Adam Putnam, Republican Conference Chairman; Eric Cantor, Chief Deputy Whip; and Members of the House Republican Conference

Barack Obama Watch: Another Obama Energy Flip Flop
+++++House GOP Protest Update+++++Obama On Strategic Oil Reserve, July 7. 2008First, Barack Obama flipped on offshore oil drilling. Now, Obama abruptly changes his position on the strategic oil reserve. In a reversal, Barack Obama is proposing tapping the nation’s strategic oil reserves to help drive down gasoline prices, his campaign said Monday.
Obama supports releasing light oil from the emergency oil stockpile now and replacing it later with heavier crude more suited to the country’s long-term needs, according to a campaign fact sheet. Light crude oil is easier to refine into gasoline than heavier oil.
Damn, how in the hell do you know how this ROOKIE stands on the issues?

Barack Obama Watch: O-Force One
+++++House GOP Protest Update+++++Check out the PRESUMPTUOUS candidate’s head rest on his campaign plane. A little arrogant, you say?Obama’s section of the plane rivals that of any first class. Recently the front cabin of the Boeing 757 was retrofitted to install four individual chairs that resemble La-Z-Boys. They are free-standing and made of plush leather with pockets on the sides. There is also a booth which seats four for a meeting or a meal.
His chair has his name and campaign logo embroidered on the back top — “Obama ‘08†on one line and “President†underneath. To one side is a small table stacked with newspapers ready for the candidate’s arrival. The table of the booth is always covered in snacks and cheese and is where Obama spends most of his time during flights meeting with staff and sitting for the occasional interview.
Flap supposes nothing is too good for “The One.”

Iran Nuclear Watch: Iran Defies Deadline
+++++House GOP Protest Update+++++
Watch here
Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is seen in Tehran August 2, 2008. The United States said on Sunday that Iran has left the U.N. Security Council no choice but to increase sanctions on the Islamic Republic for ignoring demands that it halt sensitive nuclear activities
No shock here with, again, Iran demonstrating its desire to continue on its nuclear weapons development program.Iran said on Saturday it would not back down “one iota” in its nuclear row with major powers, voicing defiance on the day of an informal deadline set by the West over Tehran’s disputed atomic ambitions.
Western officials gave Tehran two weeks from July 19 to respond to their offer to hold off from imposing more U.N. sanctions on Iran if it froze any expansion of its nuclear work.
That would suggest a deadline of Saturday but Iran, which has repeatedly ruled out curbing its nuclear activities, dismissed the idea of having two weeks to reply.
The West accuses Iran of seeking to build nuclear warheads under cover of a civilian power program. Iran, the world’s fourth-largest oil producer, denies the charge.
“In whichever negotiation we take part … it is unequivocally with the view to the realization of Iran’s nuclear right and the Iranian nation would not retreat one iota from its rights,” President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said.
And, the United States plus Europe will persue new sanctions ad nauseum.
Flap does not think Israel will wait much longer.
