Hillary Clinton Watch: The Memos
+++++Updated – Scroll Down+++++
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., greets with supporters after campaigning for Democratic presidential candidate, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., Friday,n Aug. 8, 2008, in Henderson, Nevada
The “LEAKED” Hillary Clinton Memos is the first “Shock and Awe” in the undermining attack by the Clinton Cabal on Barack Obama.Read them here at The Atlantic.
Flap’s favorite graphs:
- Mark Penn: Obama is “unelectable except perhaps against Attila the Hun,†and wrote, “I cannot imagine America electing a president during a time of war who is not at his center fundamentally American in his thinking and in his values.†Penn proposed targeting Obama’s “lack of American roots.â€
- After death-defying wins in Texas and Ohio, Mark Penn circulated his “Path to Victory,†which included portraying Obama as “a doomsday scenario.†He chided his adversaries for their timidity about attacking Obama’s pastor, Reverand Jeremiah Wright, Jr. “Many people,†Penn wrote, “believe under the surface that 20 years sitting there with Goddamn America would make him unelectable by itself.â€
- Mark Penn: “…Obama is Just Words – a campaign built on promises that turns out to be no substance, no leadership or judgment behind them in area after area…..
- Mark Penn: “Obama must be vetted on Wright, Rezko, National Security and exposed for Just Words – his record of not showing the leadership or judgment he has projected on Iraq, Afghanistan, in the State Senate or the U.S. Senate. Not someone who will be able to beat John McCain as independents and Republicans learn more about him and all his positions.”
- Mark Penn:”…Won’t a single tape of Wright going off on America with Obama sitting there be a game ender?”
- Mark Penn: “Many people (Peter Hart excluded) believe under the surface that 20 years there with Goddamn america would make him unelectable by itself. What does that say about his leadership that he never left or complained? What would have other Presidents have done? Will he sit there and listen to the 5 dictators? No one believes he believes in these things – the question is why he lied about it all, like he did with Rezko, and what it says about his judgment and leadership. And what do these relationships say about his willingness to wheel and deal for political gain?…”
As a result (or NOT?), Hillary will NOT be delivering a keynote address at the Denver Democrat convention.
And, it is revealed today that there will be protests from Hillary Clinton partisans at the convention.
The pro-Clinton group PUMA (which stands for People United Means Action, and more popularly known as Party Unity My Ass) plans to hold a protest in Denver to demand Clinton be put back into the contest. The group released a letter to delegates on Monday lobbying super delegates to reconsider backing Clinton.
The group Colorado Women Count/Women Vote has said it will also hold a pro-Clinton parade in Denver on Aug. 26, the second day of the convention when the former first lady is scheduled to speak.
Ah, The Clintons and you thought they were finished with Barack Obama. It is just beginning.
Stay tuned……
Update:
Now, there are a few pundits that believe Team McCain is following the Mark Penn strategy memos.
And, why would anyone NOT believe that the Clintons are helping John McCain?
On Fox News, former Bill Clinton advisor Dick Morris makes the case that against “Conventional Wisdom” Hillary DID accept Mark Penn’s advice to paint Obama as “un-American” emphasizing her middle America background and roots.
Believe Flap, the Clinton machine is gearing up for McCain.

Barack Obama Watch: Praying for No Rain in Denver
Pray for rain?
As Flap said before:
Invesco is an open air stadium with no retractable roof. This will make a pretty picture for television as the Democrats will pack the place but if it rains or there are thunderstorms……..August is the fourth highest average rainfall month for Denver.
If it rains, the Democrats will move back inside to the Denver Pepsi Center. And, Flap does not care one way or another. A big stadium camp meeting will reinforce John McCain’s “celebrity” image of Obama.

John Edwards Watch: Still Lying? Part Two
See more funny videos at Funny or DieJohn Edwards reveals some of his affair’s bombshellsNobody believes John Edwards convoluted story about his affair with Rielle Hunter. The photo evidence about Edwards continued lying is here.
Now, about the paternity of the child.
Edwards claims the affair ended in 2006, but the National Enquirer is set to report that his trysts with Hunter continued well beyond that and led to the birth of her daughter, Frances Quinn Hunter, last February.
Edwards denies fathering the baby, but Hunter’s younger sister, Melissa Druck, has called on him to fulfill his offer to take a paternity test – something Hunter says she doesn’t want.
“If he would just come forward and tell the whole truth, I think then this would all go away,” Druck told The Post yesterday.
Asked whether Edwards is the daddy, Druck sighed, “I’ve probably said more than I should.”
The only mystery left in this story is why the MSM failed to report the story of Edward’s infidelity for over a year.
Not really……..

Debunking “Snake Oil” and Offshore Oil Drilling
The “Snake Oil” Ad from the NRDC
The Washington Post debunks the ad running in their own newspaper. Jim Geraghty over at National Review has a summary.
The “DEBUNKED” points:- Drilling is pointless because the United States has only 3 percent of the world’s oil reserves
- The oil companies aren’t using the leases they already have
- Drilling is environmentally dangerous
There is little doubt that Americans WILL support MORE domestic oil and gas production if they want to preserve their lifestyle of today’s big vehicles either commuting, tourism or towing their boats to the oceans, rivers and lakes. Truck transport will continue to require fuel for the business community.
The increasing economies of China and India will bid up the price of offshore derived oil.
So, what does the United States do?
Americans WILL support environmentally friendly domestic oil, shale oil and natural gas production while the market develops alternative and renewable fuels. The waiting game and stall of the radical environmental movement has been exposed and is not credible. Beating up on President Bush with a caricature may make the radical Lefties feel good about themselves and their BDS, but is irrelevant.
It is time to move forward with a comprehensive energy plan that maintains the American economy and our quality of life.

Russia Vs. Georgia Watch: Military Operations Halted By Russia
Georgia’s President Mikheil Saakashvili speaks during a rally in Tbilisi August 12, 2008. At least 150,000 protesters cheered Saakashvili outside Georgia’s parliament on Tuesday, backing him in Georgia’s confrontation with Russia over the breakaway region of South Ossetia
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev today ordered Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov to “stop the operation to force Georgian authorities to peace.”“The aim of the operation has been achieved,” Medvedev said in televised remarks. “…The aggressor has been punished and has suffered very considerable losses.”
Close U.S. ally Georgia entered conflict with Russia last week after launching an offensive to retake the pro-Russian region of South Ossetia, which broke away from Georgian rule in 1992. Moscow responded with a huge counter-offensive.
Medvedev set two conditions for a full settlement of the conflict: Georgian troops had to return to their initial positions and be partly demilitarized, and a binding agreement had to be signed on the non-use of force.
It was not immediately clear whether Georgia would agree to these conditions.
It is clear the West underestimated Russian resolve to secure the oil and gas pipelines in the Caucuasus region and to exert its hegemony over its previous satellite states.
The United States should immediatey push for the following:
- Expel Russia from the G-8
- Oppose Russia membership in the World Trade Organization
- Tighten Russia visa requirements for travel to the United States
- Fast track Ukraine AND Georgia membership in NATO
- Proceed in an expedited fashion the deployment of national missile defense components in the Czech Republic and Poland
Looks like a new Cold War with Russia, folks.
And, the United Nations – utterly useless.

The Russian invasion of Georgia reminds the United States that the world is a dangerous place and that other countries are NOT deterred by talk in the United Nations. And, what was the flap about American developing a national missile defense and basing some of the components in Poland and the Czech Republic?

A Wikipedia editor emailed Political Wire to point out some similarities between Sen. John McCain's speech today on the crisis in Georgia and the Wikipedia article on the country Georgia. Given the closeness of the words and sentence structure, most would consider parts of McCain's speech to be derived directly from Wikipedia.

It’s what conservative bloggers are buzzing about: the financial relationship between Do-Nothing Nancy Pelosi and Big Wind pusher T. Boone Pickens.
#dontgo reports that according to disclosure statements, “in May 2007 she invested in T. Boone Picken’s clean energy fuels corp., CLNE, which is the sole sponsor of a proposal in California to funnel $5 billion in state funds and $5 billion in Federal funs to this corporation which will indirectly help them create a giant wind farm in the Texas panhandle.â€

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin criticized the United States for viewing Georgia as the victim, instead of the aggressor, and for airlifting Georgian troops back home from Iraq on Sunday.
"Of course, Saddam Hussein ought to have been hanged for destroying several Shiite villages," Putin said in Moscow. "And the incumbent Georgian leaders who razed ten Ossetian villages at once, who ran elderly people and children with tanks, who burned civilian alive in their sheds—these leaders must be taken under protection."

Nancy Pelosi says that she is trying to save the planet and prevent global warming, but the reality is that, according to disclosure statements, in May 2007 she invested in T. Yet Edwards' transgression — indeed, his excuse — would test the patience of his most ardent supporter: I did it, but only while my wife's cancer was in remission. This suggests that the one-time rising star of the Democratic Party has not yet made contact with human reality and believes he can dissemble his way out of this, à la Bill Clinton.
The decent option is to tell the public the whole truth, without lawyerly equivocations. Then he has the difficult task of healing his family. He should recall his own wisdom in 1999, when with great clarity he described Clinton's affair as "breathtaking" for its "remarkable disrespect … for the moral dimensions of leadership, for his friends, for his wife, for his precious daughter."

Twelve people have taken out papers for two seats on the Conejo Valley Unified School District Board of Education, including both incumbents, Dorothy Beaubien and Dolores Didio. However, only one person, past candidate Peggy Buckles, has returned her documents and is officially on the Nov. 4 ballot.
Among the 10 other possible candidates are Marlo Hartsuyker, president of the governing board of MATES, a proposed charter school; John Anderson, past candidate and frequent school board meeting speaker; and Laura Jane Dunn, a special education teacher in the Oxnard school district and wife of current board member Mike Dunn.
Others who took out papers: Elizabeth "Betsy" Connolly, Dirk De Kreek, Gary Izumo, Paul Kessler, Dennis Ray Hatland and John Hollister.

Russia issued an ultimatum to Georgia on Monday to disarm its troops along the boundary with the pro-Russian separatist enclave of Abkhazia as Russian tanks rolled across the border and occupied a western military base.
-
Will the United States put real pressure on Russia to stop? In a news analysis on Sunday, the New York Times reporter Helene Cooper accurately captured what I gather is the prevailing view in our State Department: “While America considers Georgia its strongest ally in the bloc of former Soviet countries, Washington needs Russia too much on big issues like Iran to risk it all to defend Georgia.â€
But Georgia, a nation of about 4.6 million, has had the third-largest military presence — about 2,000 troops — fighting along with U.S. soldiers and marines in Iraq. For this reason alone, we owe Georgia a serious effort to defend its sovereignty. Surely we cannot simply stand by as an autocratic aggressor gobbles up part of — and perhaps destabilizes all of — a friendly democratic nation that we were sponsoring for NATO membership a few months ago.

Sen. Barack Obama.

Hillary Rodham Clinton will headline her own night at the Democratic National Convention, Barack Obama's campaign announced Sunday in a nod to her strong second-place showing in the party's presidential primary.
The former first lady will speak on the second night, Aug. 26 — the 88th anniversary of the women's right to vote. The campaign and convention committee in a statement called her "a champion for working families and one of the most effective and empathetic voices in the country today."
The Obama campaign is trying to avoid hard feelings among Clinton's supporters at their carefully orchestrated convention. But they still haven't reached a deal on whether Clinton will be included in the roll call vote for the nomination, which could make the party appear divided heading into the final stretch of the White House race. -
While many questions remain unanswered regarding John Edwards' affair with a woman he hired to produce videos of him, some Democrats are already writing off the impact of the news.
What a joke! John Edwards has repeatedly lied and it is OK?
