California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will not be attending the Republican National Convention this week.

The Press Release:

Sacramento, CA – Governor Schwarzenegger today made the following statement regarding his attendance at the Republican National Convention:

“I am honored that Senator McCain invited me to speak at the Republican National Convention. He is an American hero, a great leader, and the right candidate to be our next president.

“However, California is always my number one priority, and there is no greater priority for our state right now than putting a responsible budget in place that fixes our broken system. Therefore — as I have said — I will not be attending the National Convention in order to focus on working toward a state budget agreement. It is totally unacceptable that 62 days past its deadline, the Legislature has not sent me a budget that I can sign. Just as they must do in our nation’s capital, Republicans and Democrats must compromise and do the work of the people.”

Arnold could fly in and out of Minneapolis quickly without a problem in his private jet but the REAL REASON Arnold is not attending is that because of Hurricane Gustav he won’t be delivering a prime time speech anyway.

So, why bother?

Arnold is such a good Republican.

I used to think of Arnold as somewhat of a hero of mine. But he is just proving himself to be just another self centered good ole boy, looking after number 1. He started off saying how much he wanted to serve California, but now I am thinking he has a long term plan to get into the White House, if he can get a few laws changed regarding presidential candidates.

jetspinner, I’m glad it took you so long to find out the truth about Arnold’s character.
It’s not hard to figure Arnold out. He used to be a bodybuilder – narcissist sport (I used to be into bodybuilding – but wasn’t as insane and stupid as Arnold to be taking all these steroids – and I can tell ya first-hand, I know how bodybuilders can spend 5 hours a day in front of the mirror looking at their muscles – worse than women; even I am narcissist).
Then Arnold became an actor – another self-centered profession (I never wanted to be an actor – thought it was a stupid profession).
Then Arnold became a politician – another self-centered profession.
Gee, that makes it pretty clear doesn’t it? Salute Arnold the Fuhrer!

I’m glad he knows what his priorities are. His job is first, you know. Good guy. Sure he’s self centered, but most people are anyway. I don’t think he’ll ever be president though. I don’t think he’d be able to ever change those laws.

I agree it’s ok to be self-centered but that should not affect his policies. It’s sort of like this: you can be a druggie but don’t let that affect your job performance. As soon as you start showing up to work late and make blatant mistakes apparently drugs have overtaken – you’re fired!
I can tell Arnold wanted to be a governor not because he thought his ideas were better. He wanted to be a governor so he could get more attention. He had no plan, he knows nothing about American politics, he does not understand how high taxes kill the goose that lay the golden egg. I mean this guy had no agenda. Or maybe he had an agenda but folded like a house of cards when the useless, intimidating, arrogant and stupid unions went to every one of his speeched to give him hard time.
When it was time to cut aggressively, what did the governator do? Cut 10% across the board. That’s nothing! How about all the useless programs? Don’t cut them – eliminate them altogether. most of them are downright idiotic. Why do we need a “Housing and Community Development”? It served us pretty well during the housing bubble didn’t it? Then why do we need “California Tourism Commission” or “California Film Commission”? People cannot begin to realize how many useless programs are out there and got just a 10% cut. How about 100% cut?
