Flap hypothesizes that someone is thinking Mike Ditka would make a good GOP candidate for the now open Barack Obama Illinois Senate seat.
Geraghty worries about a celebrity ad being run against Ditka and frets about Caroline Kennedy, Chris Matthews and/or Jerry Springer in the Senate.
Flap warns that celebrity candidates have not been so good lately (well since, Reagan who was a quasi celebrity, anyway). Look at Al Franken, Jesse Ventura, Arianna Huffington and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The real pause is when they win the election and have to govern – sometimes disastrously.
