Ya, because Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe are doing such a bangup job of progressing the GOP.

Sarah Palin may have been (and still may be) a polarizing person in the GOP, but at least she stirred up a stagnant pot. She can not be blamed for the GOP loss in the elections. The blame lies with the sheeple who fell for catch phrases “Hope” & “Change” without knowing what they meant to the one spewing them.
The GOP needs to latch onto the Phrases and concepts of “Freedom” & “Liberty” for the 2012 election.
Some blame, also, belongs to an out of touch GOP leadership- the marketing & PR behind Obama was amazing. Websites, MySpace, FaceBook, iPhone app & email updates… Where was the McCain camp? The GOP needs to embrace technology and exploit it to keep the masses in the loop and up to date.

    BTW: Happy Birthday Sarah!!

Most important thing is that Palin makes news. She just needs to show up, and you can bet your boots that it’ll hit the wires and blogs immediately, even if it is just a hog farm. Can you name one other GOP leader who has the same capability to attract coverage?

ok, but the GOP needs to be *honest* about her. look, i disagree with obama on policy and philosophy, but he’s really smart and he reads a lot and he’s charismatic. he’s raised the bar. we need to be *honest* about that and even if we disagree with his policies, we have to recognize that he’s not a dumb man. palin is a terrible choice for the party because she has no natural affinity to reading and knowledge. i know it’s heresy in the GOP, but bush is the same thing. i long for the days of really smart conservatives like pat buchanan and newt gingrich. those are the guys for whom i joined the party, they read, they spoke well, they convinced me through logic and rationale thinking that it’s smart to be a conservative. palin and bush simply wave the flag and lower the bar for the party. so now, here we are (william, apologies for being generous with ‘we’), again, with their side having the smart well-read guy, and our side having the dumb, flag waving side. and while that may sometimes win elections, it does so only by appealing to the lowest common denominator of flag waving. we need an intellectual who actually, intelligently can push the conservative agenda and convince americans that it is the right agenda. that’s what obama did, that’s what reagan did, but that’s not what bush, mccain, or palin did and i worry that hanging our hopes on palin may win an election, but it’s only a short term fix because she’s incapable of constructing and communicating policy and leadership that will convince america that the conservative agenda is the right one.

” i long for the days of really smart conservatives like pat buchanan and newt gingrich”

Oh so you’re one of these pantywaist “New Majority” David Frum “conservatives”, gotcha………………..

“that’s what obama did, that’s what reagan did”

Obama pushed a CONSERVATIVE agenda? Are you on crack?

“because she’s incapable of constructing and communicating policy”

Did you happen to see Obama’s presser the other night? Poor kid looked like “God, three years and 11 months more of this $hit”

  • Kevin

no no, i meant obama won because he was able to construct and communicate a liberal agenda, much like reagan did with a conservative agenda. no need to be so hostile, i’m just trying to make a point.

  • MGB

He can’t communicate anything unless it’s on a teleprompter.

BTW, don’t EVER mention the little one in the same sentence as THE GREAT ONE (Ronnie) unless you’re saying ‘Obama is being laughed at by Reagan right now’
