Day By Day by Chris Muir

Ah here we go again with the national tax day tea party insults: rednecks and farmland indeed.

The LEFT can ignore and/or ridicule citizen grassroots protests at their own political peril. I remember the same treatment of Howard Jarvis and his Proposition 13 in California over thirty years ago.

And I’ll bet you remember that Howard Jarvis got more hindrance than help from the CA GOP, despite being a long-time, stalwart supporter of them. He won inspite of all that, and not only did it not stop the GOP from getting residual benefits from Prop 13, but Jarvis also didn’t mind them getting a little credit.

Now tell me again why it is so necessary that the GOP be seen as being out in front on the Tea Party movement?

The California GOP did receive residual benefits from their anti-tax stances with Deukmejian and Wilson. In the 1980’s they had more members of the California Legislature than anytime in recent history.

Now, wiht California’s economy in shambles from many poor decisions, a back to basics message of less government and lower taxes is resonating again – 30 years later.
