Social Security and Medicare Collapsing Under the Weight of Recession

    ramireztoon051509
    Political Cartoon by Michael Ramirez

And, the Obama Administration is INCREASING spending while insolvency looms for social security and medicare?

Even as Congress hunted for ways to finance a major expansion of health insurance coverage, the Obama administration reported Tuesday that the financial condition of the two largest federal benefit programs, Medicare and Social Security, had deteriorated, in part because of the recession.

As a result, the administration said, the Medicare fund that pays hospital bills for older Americans is expected to run out of money in 2017, two years sooner than projected last year. The Social Security trust fund will be exhausted in 2037, four years earlier than predicted, it said.

Spending on Social Security and Medicare totaled more than $1 trillion last year, accounting for more than one-third of the federal budget.

Does anyone REALLY think that the United States can afford universal health care coverage and Obamacare? Hell, America cannot afford the system we have now.

Rush Limbaugh responded to Roberta McCain’s criticism of his tough radio persona Thursday, joking over the fact “McCain’s mother is dumping on me.”

Shanna Moakler Resigns as Miss California USA Pageant Director Because of Carrie Prejean

    shanna_moakler
She’s got her ring on, and he’s got his kiss on. On-again, off-again married couple Travis Barker and Shanna Moakler prove magnetic – just a little more than a month since a split she called “devastating.” And, now is dissing Carrie Prejean for her breast implants – paid for by the California pageant.

Yep, the paragon of morality Shanna Moakler has resigned from the Miss California USA pageant.

The day after Carrie Prejean was told she could keep her Miss California crown, Shanna Moakler has resigned, she confirms to Usmagazine.com exclusively.

“Since the press conference yesterday, I had a chance to think about what has taken place, and I feel that at this time it is in my best interest to resign from the Miss California USA organization,” Moakler tells Us.

“I cannot with a clear conscious move forward supporting and promoting the Miss Universe Organization when I no longer believe in it, or the contracts I signed committing myself as a youth,” she continues. “I want to be a role model for young women with high hopes of pageantry, but now feel it more important to be a role model for my children. I am sorry and hope I have not let any young supporters down but wish them the best of luck in fulfilling their dreams.”

And, what a role model to her children, she is.

    NOT.

Check out the photo below when she celebrated her divorce and click here if you want to see Moakler NAKED.

The highlight of the evening came at dinner, when the Ballagio’s Fix restaurant brought out a “divorce cake” for Moakler. The three-tiered cake featured a miniature knife-wielding blonde in a wedding dress on top, with a trail of blood leading to a tiny groom sprawled at the bottom

And, she resigned over Carrie Prejean and her statement regarding gay marriage?

    Whatever……

By the way, looks like Carrie is getting a GIG with Fox News.

Shocker: Obama Administration Ends “The War on Drugs”

    Gil Kerlikowske

Gil Kerlikowske, the new White House drug czar, signaled Wednesday his openness to rethinking the government’s approach to fighting drug use

    What a shock!

    Not.

The Obama administration’s new drug czar says he wants to banish the idea that the U.S. is fighting “a war on drugs,” a move that would underscore a shift favoring treatment over incarceration in trying to reduce illicit drug use.

In his first interview since being confirmed to head the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, Gil Kerlikowske said Wednesday the bellicose analogy was a barrier to dealing with the nation’s drug issues.

“Regardless of how you try to explain to people it’s a ‘war on drugs’ or a ‘war on a product,’ people see a war as a war on them,” he said. “We’re not at war with people in this country.”

Mr. Kerlikowske’s comments are a signal that the Obama administration is set to follow a more moderate — and likely more controversial — stance on the nation’s drug problems. Prior administrations talked about pushing treatment and reducing demand while continuing to focus primarily on a tough criminal-justice approach.

The Obama administration is likely to deal with drugs as a matter of public health rather than criminal justice alone, with treatment’s role growing relative to incarceration, Mr. Kerlikowske said.

Hell, Obama is no longer fighting a “War on Terror.” So, getting rid of a war on drugs is easy.

Flap is looking forward to all of those treatment facilities for marijuana addiction. Come on, Obama is essentially legalizing pot with its failure to enforce the nation’s drug laws.

    Who is anyone kidding?

Nancy Pelosi: CIA LIED and Mislead Congress on Waterboarding

    ramireztoon051309

    Political Cartoon by Michael Ramirez

The House Democrat Speaker Nancy Pelosi story regading CIA enhanced interrogation techniques and waterboarding is changing again with a morning news conference.

Under fire from Republicans for what she knew about harsh questioning of terror detainees, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday acknowledged that she had learned as early as 2003 that the C.I.A. had subjected suspects to waterboarding.

At a tense press conference, Ms. Pelosi said for the first time that a staff member alerted her in February 2003 that top lawmakers on the House Intelligence Committee had been briefed on the use of tough interrogation methods on terror suspects.

But she said the fact that she did not speak out at the time due to secrecy rules did not make her complicit in any abuse of detainees. She accused the C.I.A. and Bush administration of lying to Congress about what was actually transpiring with the detainees.

“I am saying that the C.I.A. was misleading the Congress and at the same the administration was misleading the Congress on weapons of mass destruction,” Ms. Pelosi said.

Republicans immediately took issue with the speaker’s comments, saying that she was in essence blaming the intelligence professionals for misleading her.

“The speaker’s comments continue to raise more questions than provide answers,” said Representative John A. Boehner of Ohio, the House Republican leader.

He added, in comments broadcast on television: “It’s pretty clear that they were well aware of what these enhanced interrogation techniques were; they were well aware that they’d been used; and it seems to me that they want to have it both ways.”

“You can’t have it both ways.”

Speaker Pelosi says she wants a “truth commission” to investigate this matter.

Pelosi renewed her call for a so-called truth commission to investigate the events in the Bush administration that led to the use of waterboarding and other harsh interrogation techniques. While President Barack Obama has banned waterboarding, calling it torture, he has been notably cool toward an independent inquiry that might distract attention from his domestic agenda.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., also has expressed opposition, as have congressional Republicans.

Well, it is obvious that somebody is lying here and the American pulbic deserves some accountability.

I say have a Congressional investigation, place everyone under oath, on television and let’s sweat some truth out of these folks.

Poll Watch: Rudy Giuliani Gains in New York Governor Race

New York Gov. Paterson Gets Low Scores From All Races, Quinnipiac University Poll Finds; Giuliani Narrows Gap With Cuomo In Governor’s Race

With polling results from the latest Qunnipiac University New York Governor’s race is there ANY doubt that former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani will run next year?

In an early look at the 2010 Governor’s race, former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani leads Paterson 54 – 32 percent. Giuliani leads 86 – 6 percent among Republicans and 60 – 21 percent among independent voters, while Democrats back Paterson 56 – 30 percent. Giuliani leads 62 – 25 percent among white voters and 51 – 42 percent among Hispanics, while black voters back Paterson 64 – 18 percent.

Cuomo leads Giuliani 47 – 41 percent in a head-to-head matchup, down from a 53 – 36 percent lead April 6. Independent voters have shifted from 49 – 38 percent for Cuomo April 8 to 44 – 40 percent for Giuliani today. In this latest survey, Giuliani leads 80 – 9 percent among Republicans while Democrats back Cuomo 78 – 16 percent. Cuomo leads 76 – 13 percent among black voters and 52 – 40 percent among Hispanics, as white voters go to Giuliani 47 – 42 percent.

“If the Republicans nominate Mayor Giuliani, he beats Paterson by a lot. Cuomo beats Giuliani but that lead is shrinking as independent voters shift to the Republican. That’s a trend to watch,” Carroll said.

There is already a Draft Rudy website, a Facebook group and a Twitter account set up for a Rudy run for Governor. With Flap’s experience in the Giuliani for President campaign this is not established with at least some input from the Rudy folks.

The only question now is whether with deteriorating poll numbers will New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo take a chance running for Governor or let the New York Democrats twist in the wind with David Paterson?

Day By Day by Chris Muir

Chris, the problem is the Obama Administration knows how to run a campaign but do NOT know how to govern and run the country.

Blaming President Bush, Rush Limbaugh and Dick Cheney are EASY. Coming up with sound policy decisions, particularly with a President that has little experience in making executive decisions – not so much.

However, the “BLAME GAME” is ending and the President has no clothes.
