Obamacare: Michelle Obama Says Women are Crushed by Health Care System

Yes, Michelle Obama said it – oh yes she did.

First lady Michelle Obama sought support for the administration’s health-care plans from family advocacy groups and health-care professionals, saying the treatment of women under the current system is “unacceptable.”

As President Barack Obama campaigns to generate backing from voters for his health-care overhaul proposal, the first lady joined the effort today with a more focused pitch.

Michelle Obama said women are being “crushed by the current structure of our health care” because they often are responsible for taking care of family illnesses, arranging checkups and monitoring follow-up care.

“Women are the ones to do it,” she said to an audience of 140 people, including representatives from groups such as the Women’s Chamber of Commerce and the National Council of Negro Women. “Mothers are the ones that do it. And many women find themselves doing the same thing for their spouses.”

Women also are more disproportionately affected by the lack of insurance options because they are more likely to work part-time or at small businesses that don’t provide coverage.

“It’s not surprising that so many millions of women are simply going without insurance at all,” Obama said.

Flap asked Mrs. Flap if she felt crushed by the health care system? Having had a pap smear today at her private gynecologist, she uttered a brief response: No.

Interesting that Mrs. Flap’s cadillac insurance plan which she receives from her employer will be more heavily taxed to provide “FREE” care for illegal aliens and people that don’t or won’t work. For that, Mrs. Flap feels “CRUSHED.”

I wouldn’t say “crushed”, but it can be distressing. We have an HMO and when we have to fight for a referral for one of our children when it is obvious to everyone that one is needed and it takes endless calls to get it done, it is very distressing. That doesn’t mean that the Obamacare is going to solve any of it, but I can see how Michelle can use the milage provided by inefficient managed care on this subject.

But, at least you have the choice to pay for private care outside the HMO if you wish. Under Obamcare, no choice when the private insurance companies go out of business because of the government run plan.

This is not crushing but “The End.”

I am perplexed by people who claim to have strong moral values, but who obviously value the obscene profits generated by the medical insurance industry over the lives of 45,000 fellow AMERICAN CITIZENS who die each year in this great country because they do not have health insurance – and that is in addition to the roughly 700,000 Americans who go bankrupt each year due to overwhelming medical bills! Some of these less fortunate of our brothers and sisters DIE because they cannot afford health insurance even as they work two or three jobs at slave wages to support their families, while others have had their health insurance coverage terminated due to preexisting conditions, etc. Like many of the “more highly moral” citizens of our great country, I am against abortion, but, like the more TRULY moral Catholic Bishops, I am also in favor of a complete overhaul of our nation’s health care system to bring it more in line with REAL moral values, be they Christian, Jewish, secular, or whatever.
It has been said that “Health is our greatest wealth”. How can sick people who can’t afford medical care (and free emergency care is often way too late for the chronicaly ill and drives up costs enormously) be expected to contribute to society if they are too sick to work? In reality, the real question is not “how will we afford a public option” but, in light of the above stated facts (that many of our more fortunate brothers and sisters would prefer to deny), how can we afford NOT to have one?

I think that Michelle as her husband has no interest in the peoples well being. Their sole interest is to stay in the White House. As a first Lady she sucks also as a speaker considering she attended law school, that is deplorable. And if she is using a teleprompter like her husband it is even worse.
For a first lady to be so up in her high horse and talking down to people is questionable. Why because she does not come from a rich family to give herself so much airs of nobility she lacks of a lot in manners and other things to come a act like an a** and try to tell people what they should do and what they want. Who gives a hoot what she thinks being acceptable or not. She is “just the first lady ” not acting like one. Stick to her duties as a wife and a mother . We the people can have our own opinions and know better what is odd for us good for us. She does not have to tell us and what is unacceptable is her meddling in our homes and our decisions.
If she wants to mother someone, she should mother her kids and her husband and tell him to do the job he was hired to do. He is getting payed for running around campaigning and not doing his job. Where is his sense of responsibility? He preaches so much about it and he is the most irresponsible human being in the United States of America.
We are getting pretty tired of the Obama’s tunes and stupidity….
She should concentrate on teaching her girls good manners . They acct like brats and have never seen more unrespectful children than hers badly behaved and impolite to everyone at the swearing in of their own father and she didn’t even flinched! Not even when Yo yo Ma was playing . And they do this everywhere, how disrespectful hey are and they do this everywhere. She and her First Brats should be ashamed of themselves. Whit what face does she think she has the right to dare to tell others what to do? Please, give me a brake! This is supposedly a democracy not a dictatorship , or is it trying to be the later?

Is the comment posted by “Elvi” on Sept. 19, 2009 at 7:11pm a joke? The reason I ask is that its lack of reason, its poor grammar, coupled with its seething hatred are almost beyond belief! Since when is a First Lady supposed to “keep quiet” and stay in the kitchen? After reading such bald hate mongering I can only hope that our President’s sincere, caring, and intelligent initiatives to improve the condition of our country’s educational system succeed without delay. Even if they do, it may take at least another generation to bring civility back to our nation’s political dialogue.

Some employees are simply irreplaceable. Take Michelle Obama: The University of Chicago Medical center hired her in 2002 to run “programs for community relations, neighborhood outreach, volunteer recruitment, staff diversity and minority contracting”.

In 2005, the hospital raised her salary from $120,000 to $317, 000 nearly twice what her husband made as a Senator.

Oh, did we mention that her husband had just become a U.S. Senator? He sure had. And that he immediately requested a $1 million earmark for the UC Medical Center, in fact?… You betcha by golly… He surely did. Way to network Michelle!

But now that Mrs. Obama has resigned, the hospital says her position will remain unfilled. How can that possibly be??? Especially if the work she did was vital enough to be worth $317,000?

Oh, by the way, let me add that Michelle’s position was a part time, 20 hour week job at $317,000.00 per year !!

“IN GOD WE TRUST!!”–we better because you sure can’t trust your elected officials.

The Democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.

While I am certainly not in favor of anyone getting paid $317,000. a year by a hospital for little work, as “Howard” claims Michelle Obama did, I am even less in favor of health insurance company executives making up to $25,000,000. (TWENTY-FIVE MILLION DOLLARS!) a year for supposedly taking care of sick people (when they feel like doing it)! That is beyond the pale.
