Jerry Brown,  Meg Whitman

CA-Gov Poll Watch: Meg Whitman Vs. Jerry Brown

2010 California Gubernatorial General Election: Meg Whitman (R) vs Jerry Brown (D)

2010 Governor from Rasmussen:

  • 43% Brown (D), 39% Whitman (R)
  • 45% Brown (D), 35% Poizner (R)
  • 43% Feinstein (D), 42% Whitman (R)
  • 43% Feinstein (D), 39% Poizner (R)

In the latest Rasmussen poll ol’ crusty Democrat Jerry Brown barely leads former e-Bay CEO Meg Whitman. Brown does better against California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner. But, the latest California Field Poll has Whitman far ahead of Poizner for the Republican nomination.

With the California economy in the dumper, I doubt that voters will be too happy electing a retread 70 year old whose lack of leadership was paramount during his first tenure as Governor decades ago. When Whitman cranks up the advertising, Brown’s numbers will fall like a rock.

By the way, Feinstein is comfy in the U.S. Senate and will stay there.

We’re not going to elect a billionaire, blood-sucking, former Goldman Sachs director, is more like it.
Poizner is a decent guy, smart and competent, good manager. He’ll be all right. Campbell would have been better.
Jerry Brown is a good guy, but expecting him to be a hands-on manager is a bit much. His strengths are in coming up with new ways of looking at things, creative solutions…and backroom dealing.

I wish we could split the governor job in two, and have Poizner do the “administrator” part and the “dealing with the business community” part, and have Brown do the “coming up with new solutions to sticky intractable problems” and “arm twisting democratic legislators” part. That would be perfect. Yin and Yang.

Jerry Brown was a disaster when he was governor. Remember he gave us Rose Bird among many poor appointees.

    Ol’ Crusty won’t be elected.

Debates are only as good as the questions asked by the moderator (& makes sure they are answered). I’ve always liked Jerry, not a fan of Meg, though California really, really, needs someone to get jobs and housing rolling again. Whitman has addressed that her CEO credentials will make it so. I want the debate to show if Brown has what it takes to resolve these issues

I am 33years old and for the Democratic party, but I will not be voting for an old geezer like Brown. Meg, even though from the other party, was leader of EBAY which is a very successful business, I want the person in this position to be a great leader and take us out of this big dark hole we’re in California. Also like the fact she is ANTI gun…

Funny how so many people just bag on brown for being old… You really can’t help your age. American culture has basically become shipping the old into a convalescent home and forgetting about them, but the fact is with age comes experience and knowledge. Not everyone will embrace that knowledge but there is a chance that Jerry will have learned a lot since he last was governor. Meg Whitman is just scarey, she is like Arnold…just used to getting her way. She will come out with some lame plan and fail, get depressed and whatever. Unfortunately you have to work within the system to be effective, and the snobby do what they want people will get discouraged when it doesn’t go their way. I’d rather have someone that gets in on their qualifications instead of just how much money they have, and id like to see both of their campaigns quit bashing each other as it is a lame waste of time. Bottom line, you can’t trust any of them anyways.

    Lurker,

Meg Whitman is a blood sucking billionaire? LOL, thats why she has spent almost 100 million trying to be Governor, which prob pays no more then 250,000. We need someone to spend tax dollars wisely, not give them to unions, and other wasteful Gov’t jobs. Does anyone realize how much of the stimulous money was wasted because it was sent to Gov’t bodies???

Jerry Brown is a crook, plain and simple. Jerry has always taken from the people to put food on his table, Meg at least made all her own money. If Brown is elected expect tax increase and more and more Govt spending. When are people going to understand, what is good for business is good for workers.

Jerry BROWN made me lose my home!!! This is what I hear all day! What did he do? I know he is on the side of the big banks. He is also in deep dooh dooh for closing some legit businesses. He is anti business and worse choice anyways. I want to find out why most homeowners who lost their homes blaming him.

    Please,

California is not stupid enough to put two Republican losers in a row in the Governor’s office. Meg Whitman is qualified to take junkets to trade shows, not run anything including a company. People need a very serious history lesson here. Jerry Brown was liberal, but he balanced the California budget after the disaster created by Ronald Raygun. Even with the disaster Prop 13 in place. He did that by actually collecting the revenue owed the state by the oil companies, something Brother Pete did away with after Jerry left office and which contributed to our everlasting budget deficits.

Upon taking office in 1975, Brown gained a reputation as a fiscal conservative. “The American Conservative” noted he was “much more of a fiscal conservative than Governor Reagan.” His fiscal restraint resulted in one of the biggest budget surpluses in state history.

People need to do a little research – it doesn’t take much, and they will discover that Jerry Brown was one of the best governors California has ever had, and that Meg Whitman has never done anything but ride the coattails of entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley, contributing little of nothing to those businesses or California.

We don’t need another know nothing disaster like our current governor.

    @ 10

Dude, you must not have been living in California when Jerry Brown was Governor in the 70’s.

Jerry Brown is and was a FAR LEFT disaster – now only compounded by the California Democratic Party that has controlled the Legislature for decades and bankrupted the state.

I agree that Arnold is a disaster.

Jerry Brown is too old with too old ideas. He needs to retire.

  • Ralf

Come on California, we need to elect business people that know how to run a business. Why do you think she and others got rich, “They know how to balance budgets, get them approved and live and stand up to the goals they set forth. If you elect anyone else than a real business person that has shown results then California deserves what it gets, the old political process and problems over and over. Get real and stop thinking just because they got rich means don’t know how to help all of us get a better government. From an independent from another state. Help yourself elect someone that can help others in all your election. Elect Boxer and get the same old issues. Elect Jerry Brown and get disaster.

  • Kris

If Californians have any common sense, they will elect Whitman. They need a smart business savy person to bring some financial stability to the state.

BTW, what the heck is with Gloria Allred trotting out a known illegal immigrant to “sue” her former employer! Ridiculous! Nikki is a liar who forged her employment documents and willfully defrauded others for years! What do you think would happen if this had occurred in Mexico?

I wonder if Gloria will offer to financially support Nikki and her children once she is deported back to Mexico?

  • lucy

I think everyone hear should gave me one dollar, thats rite i’m telling you how to spend your money! oh wait you don’t want someone telling you how and what to spend it on. so why are you getting mad at someone spending there own money on something they care about.

    If its BROWN flush it down,I don’t like looking at a dirty toilet {state}

    GO MEG!!!!!

  • John

Meg made ebay profitable by shipping most of the jobs overseas. She’s partly responsible for California’s unemployment problem, along with other ruthless execs who place the company’s bottom dollar over the success of the state and the nation. good for business. BAD for government.

How would you feel when she replaced all firemen and police with South American illegal immigrants who would work for $2 an hour. That’s Meg Whitman thinking. That’s not good for California
