Mike Huckabee,  Mitt Romney

Poll Watch: Mike Huckabee Leads Sarah Palin in 2012 Alabama Presidential Race

Yep, the race for 2012 has already started.

In a reminder of his strength with social conservatives, Mike Huckabee leads his nearest GOP competitor by 10 percentage points, according to a new poll of Alabama Republicans.

Thirty-three percent of Alabama Republicans polled support the former Arkansas governor for the 2012 presidential nomination, while 23 percent said they would back Sarah Palin, the former Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential nominee. The next closest Republican to Huckabee and Palin is former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who takes 12 percent of the vote.

If Sarah Palin decides to defer a race in 2012, Romney and Huckabee will go toe to toe again. Remember how brutal Iowa was in 2008?

But, should Palin not run, there will be others.

    Great.
    Huckabee and Romney.
    More squishy RINOs.
    Recycled squshy RINOs.
    Yeah, that’ll win it.
People will always pick sameoldsameold over much-hyped rock star with free, unlimited positive press coverage.
Even if it’s faded, outed rock star like Obama.
    Right?
    Sure.
    Victory, we hardly knew ye.

I love Huckabee! He’s got my vote! I am glad to see these early polls showing his strength with the base, plus doing even better with independents. He has been leading the GOP field in the Public Policy Poll for months now and even beat Obama last month (the first time any republican has done that since BO took office). He has been quietly flying under the radar since 08 doing 4-8 appearances a week, plus his show on Fox, radio program, building Huck PAC network. The voters are getting to know him and like what they see!
