Businesses Fear Expansion of the Illegal Immigration E-Verify Program

In an early indicator of how congressional Republicans will legislate on immigration, House GOP leaders are expanding an inquiry into an enforcement program that allows employers to check the immigration status of employees.
The E-Verify program has long been championed by Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-Calif.), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee’s immigration panel, which will hold a hearing on it Thursday.
Many business owners believe that Gallegly and other House Republicans want to make E-Verify, currently a voluntary program for companies, mandatory. Critics of such a move, many of them farmers, warn that it could destabilize the agricultural economy, which is heavily dependent on undocumented immigrants, and jeopardize millions of jobs held by American citizens that are upstream and downstream of farm labor.
The fact is that agricultural mega-business have been using cheap, illegal aliens for most of their labor for decades at great cost to American taxpayers.
Why?
Well, it is way cheaper than hiring native born Americans or mechanizing their farming/manufacturing operations. Hence, more profits. But, the taxpayers are picking up the tab for the illegal aliens and their American born (and american citizen) children e.g. public education, medicaid, criminal justice et. al..
E-Verify is a sensible reform and if the large agricultural companies cannot obtain enough labor then there is always a guest worker program for which they can apply.
Let’s get the illegal aliens and their hidden costs out of the shadows and back to their home countries while supplying jobs for Americans.
I will gladly pay a bit more for my lettuce and grapes.

E-Verify should be mandatory for all businesses throughout the country in every single state. Here in New Jersey we have tons of bogus employment agencies transporting loads of illegal aliens to Companies that should be hiring American Citizens, and then we wonder why we don’t have jobs for Americans citizens? A lot of what is happening with our economy has to do with millions of illegal aliens taking jobs that Americans can and will do if paid the correct wage. These businesses should not be getting away with paying people under the table, or paying them much less than a citizen or not paying them at all. We need to stop the abuse, stop illegal aliens from entering, stop Companies from hiring them, and stop illegal aliens from receiving benefits that they are not entitled to.

Woman got welfare illegally for 9 kids while her husband works three jobs, SANTA ANA – A woman must pay $80,000 in restitution and has been sentenced to 180 days in jail following her conviction for fraudulently applying for and illegally receiving public assistance for 11 years.
Aurelia Ramirez, 45, of Santa Ana, pleaded guilty in Orange County Superior Court on Wednesday to one felony count of receiving more than $400 through misrepresentation and nine felony counts of perjury for filing false applications for aid, prosecutors said. She received more than $79,000 in cash aid and food stamps, according to a news release from the District Attorney’s Office.
Now do we know why need E-Verify? This man held 3 jobs while his wife collects welfare for 9 children and we wonder why our economy is bad and why American citizens cannot find work.

Illegal aliens are destroying this Country, and one would have to be almost blind not to see this. How much longer do we have to support these illegal aliens? How much longer do we have to school their illegal alien children? How much longer are we going to let them have our jobs? How much longer are we going to put up with all the crime, stolen identities, forged documents, fake green cards? How much longer are we going to allow these illegal aliens to send money out of this Country and bring our Country down? Oh, amnesty will correct all this. WRONG! Nothing will change except we wouldn’t be able to call them illegal aliens any more. Let’s get rid of these illegal aliens! Let’s get them back to their own Country where they belong!
