Barack Obama Watch: The Wesley Clark Look At Me Moment
Gary Varvel, The Indianapolis Star
Paul Mirengoff pretty much sums up the Wesley Clark-John McCain military record flap.Like much that’s going on in the presidential campaign these days, I didn’t find much of interest in Wes Clark’s assessment of the relationship between John McCain’s military service and McCain’s credentials to be president. In view of the astonishing thinness of Obama’s credentials, some wondered what Clark was thinking when he made his comment. The answer is: “I should be president.”
I did find it amusing to hear some liberals challenge those conservatives who were offended by Clark’s remark to explain why they weren’t similarly outraged when the Swiftvets questioned John Kerry’s military record in 2004. The two cases are quite different. If those who were in prison with McCain in North Vietnam were to say that McCain wasn’t really tortured, or to say that McCain went on Hanoi radio to accuse U.S. troops of criminal conduct, then the two cases would become analogous. And then you would have an interesting issue.
All Clark did over the last few days was highlight the fact that Barack Obama has NO military experience.
Flap wonders if General Clark, originally a Hillary Clinton supporter, is actually trying to sabotage Obama by pointing out the thinness of his military and foreign policy record?
Clinton Cabal stuff?
Hum……….

Hillary Clinton Watch: Forcing Hillary Out
Gary Varvel on the Tortoise and the Hill
The African American block of Democrat House members are playing their race card in an attempt to force Hillary Clinton out of the Presidential race.
“If this party is perceived by people as having gone into a back room somewhere and brokered a nominee, that would not be good for our party,” House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn (S.C.), the highest ranking African American in Congress, warned yesterday. “I’m telling you, if this continues on its current course, [the damage] is going to be irreparable.”
Well, Hillary is NOT going anywhere. She and Bill know that if Obama is the disparaged nominee that Hillary will be resurrected after four years of a McCain presidency (McCain due to age constraints REALLY will only serve one term).
If Hillary wins Indiana while holding her own in North Carolina, the race will not be over until the convention.
But, the pleas for Hillary to withdraw will intensify:
- “If you have any, any kind of loyalty to the Democratic Party, perhaps you need to rethink your strategy and bow out gracefully in order to save this party from a disastrous end in November,” Rep. William Lacy Clay (Mo.), an African American Obama supporter, said in an appeal to Clinton.
Hillary will NOT withdraw until the Fat Lady sings and she is NOT even in the building.
