France Riot Watch: One Year Later

    FO/FRANCE

The burnt out remains of a city bus sit on a road near council housing in Le Blanc-Mesnil, north of Paris, October 27, 2006. Youth gangs Young Muslim immigrants around the French capital have set fire to passenger buses during the last week, a year after three weeks of civil unrest hit the Paris suburbs in 2005.

Washington Post: A Year After Suburban Riots, France Is Mostly Calm

French officials deployed 4,000 extra police officers in the country’s poorest suburban areas Friday as the anniversary of last year’s wave of arson attacks arrived with only scattered incidents of violence, according to early police and news media reports.

The security precautions followed several weeks of increasing tension in the suburban areas of Paris where residents — most of whom are Arab and African immigrants and their French-born children — have complained that the government had not lived up to promises it made, after last year’s nationwide rampage, to improve living conditions and employment opportunities.

    The major differences this year:

    1. Deployment of police

    2. Awareness of the immigrant Muslim population and immigration problems.

    3. Election year

Small groups of men — some of them armed — attacked two public buses in the northern suburbs of Paris early in the evening. In one incident, two armed men boarded a bus in front of a train station in the town of Le Blanc-Mesnil, yanked the driver off the vehicle and ordered all the passengers off before throwing a gasoline bomb and burning the bus, French media reported. Authorities reduced bus service into the area and limited night bus service in many other suburbs.

In the past week, about half a dozen public buses have been attacked and set ablaze in suburbs of Paris and Lyon, and gangs wielding rocks and metal pipes have ambushed police in some Paris suburbs.

A man looks at the wreckage of a bus that was set alight in the port city of Marseille. A young woman is in critical condition after a night of gang violence in parts of France that coincided with the first anniversary of the suburban riots that gripped the country.

The violence has decreased for now which is a good thing. But, France has structural demographic and immigration problems that are just now being exhibited.

    Stay tuned……

AP: Immigrant youths march through Paris

Mixing rap music with memories of France’s revolutionary past, youths from poor neighborhoods of largely Muslim and African descent marched through Paris on Wednesday to present a collection of 20,000 complaints to lawmakers.

The march by several hundred people came ahead of Friday’s first anniversary of the riots involving disaffected youths from immigrant Parisian suburbs. Many in France fear new violence, with tensions rising in recent weeks.

“The context is still the same, nothing has changed. So the situation is propitious for other events like last year,” said Samir Mihi, co-founder of the AC-Le Feu group that collected the grievances from minorities all over France.

The demonstrators held ragged-looking notebooks filled with complaints while crossing southern Paris toward the Assembly, the lower house of parliament, after a stop at the Senate.

“Immigrants scare the French” read one unsigned entry. Another entry, by a 17-year-old boy from Besancon in eastern France, urged companies to use their profits to create more jobs.

Stay tuned for the riots this weekend. How will the French government respond?

    Surrender again…….

The bus was set on fire on Wednesday night in Nanterre by a gang of youths, after they forced passengers out. The attack as France prepares to mark on Friday the one-year anniversary of riots last year by suburban youth, and raised the specter of a repeat of the three weeks of violence.

France Immigration Watch: France Retreats on Immigrants

    franceoctober6aweb

France’s Communist Party leader Marie-Georges Buffet, Revolutionary Communist League leader Olivier Besancenot, Green party deputy leader Noel Mamere, and leader of France’s Lutte Ouvriere extreme-left party Arlette Laguiller (L-R) attend a news conference outside a school gym where hundreds of African immigrants camp after they were evicted from France’s largest squat in August in Cachan, south of Paris, September 25, 2006. The families refused temporary lodging in hotels, fuelling a heated debate about the immigration policies of Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy ahead of the 2007 presidential election.

International Herald Tribune: France retreats on immigrants

A fierce standoff between the French authorities and about 300 illegal African immigrants crowded into a suburban school gymnasium outside Paris eased Thursday with a tentative deal for housing and other concessions.

Nicolas Sarkozy, the interior minister and a candidate for president in France’s next election, had accused political groups of exploiting the misery of the immigrants. But it was his office that ultimately backed down and negotiated the accord with anti-racism associations as mediators.

Oh, the French deal with illegal immigration in the manner of the grand socialist state.

Flap supposes Sarko doesn’t remember this:

A fireman tries to put out a burning car set ablaze by rioters in ‘La Reynerie’, a popular neighbourhood of Toulouse, south western France. Amid fears that suburban rioters might be planning to bring violence into the capital over a holiday weekend, French police imposed a short-term ban on public meetings in Paris.

The agreement provides the families with temporary housing, a review of their applications for residency papers and promises not to expel them from France during the examination.

Six men have been on hunger strike for almost 45 days and two are now in a hospital in critical condition.

The other four rested Thursday morning weakly on mattresses in a gymnasium changing room decorated with a poster of them and the words: “Are we going to let them die?”

By late afternoon, Agence France- Presse reported that the strikers had begun to take nourishment because of the accord, which came about only after Sarkozy clashed with political opponents this week over the festering situation in Cachan.

Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin declared Wednesday that, with France known as a land of asylum, the situation was “not acceptable in a country like ours.”

The French retreat again and will suffer the consequences of a permanent Muslim immigrant underclass.

    Oh Well

Mark Steyn says the Europeans are GONERS.

But, by the looks of things the United States is not doing so well on their illegal immigration plans either.

    Stay tuned…….

France Immigration Watch: French Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy Warns Europe Over illegal Immigration

    franceseptember29aweb

Spanish Interior minister Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba(L) speaks with EU commissioner for Interior affairs Franco Frattini prior to the start of an eight-country round table on immigration in Madrid. French Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy warned European governments that failure to turn back a tide of clandestine immigrants could fuel an explosion of xenophobia in Europe.

AFP: French minister issues stark warning over illegal immigration

French Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy warned European governments that failure to turn back a tide of clandestine immigrants could fuel an explosion of xenophobia in Europe.

His warning came on his arrival here to attend a meeting of ministers from eight countries to thrash out ways of tackling the crisis on the continent’s borders, where illegal immigration has reached alarming proportions.

“The crisis confronting Europe is only beginning. If we decide not to act, we are going to give rise to xenophobic sentiments in our societies which we will not be able to control,” Sarkozy told reporters.

Xenophobic sentiments my ASS. Sarkozy is worried about Muslim community riots/terrorism and the demands of social services from the non-French illegal aliens.

Most European countries have declining birthrates and are indeed not having sufficient native born children to replenish their populations.

But, who will do the work that native born Europeans don’t wish to do for their welfare/socialist states?

    Muslim immigrants.

The Europeans have a MAJOR problem.

Mark Steyn says the Europeans are GONERS.

    Indeed…….

Al Qaeda Watch: French Intelligence Service Reports Osama Bin Laden is DEAD

    alqaedaseptember23aweb

The article in the l’Est Republicain quotes a French intelligence service report that Osama bin Laden has died of typhoid. France is probing how the intelligence brief the report is based on came to be leaked.

AP: France Looks Into bin Laden Death Report

The French defense ministry on Saturday called for an internal investigation of the leak of an intelligence document that raises the possibility that Osama bin Laden may have died of typhoid in Pakistan a month ago but said the report of the death remained unverified.

“The information defused this morning by the l’Est Republicain newspaper concerning the possible death of Osama bin Laden cannot be confirmed,” a Defense Ministry statement said.

The daily newspaper for the Lorraine region in eastern France printed what it described as a confidential document from the French foreign intelligence service DGSE citing an uncorroborated report from Saudi secret services that the leader of the al-Qaida terror network had died.

The contents of the document, dated Sept. 21, or Thursday, were not confirmed by French or other intelligence sources. However, the DGSE transmitted the note to President Jacques Chirac and other officials, the newspaper said.

Defense Minister Michele Alliot-Marie “has demanded an investigation be carried out of this leak,” a ministry statement said, adding that transmission of the confidential document could risk punishment.

Defense Ministry spokesman Jean-Francois Bureau, clarifying the statement, said that the DGSE document exists but that its contents – that bin Laden is allegedly dead – cannot be confirmed.

Interesting but yet unconfirmed. The LEFT/Democrats are probably saying it is Karl Rove pulling the strings in the White House again.

The front page of the l’Est Republicain which published a report by the French intelligence services saying Osama bin Laden has died of typhoid. France is probing how the intelligence brief the report is based on came to be leaked.

And what does Jacques Chirac, the President of France say?

AP: Chirac: Bin Laden intel not confirmed

President Jacques Chirac said Saturday that information contained in a leaked intelligence document raising the possibility that Osama bin Laden may have died of typhoid in Pakistan last month is “in no way whatsoever confirmed.”

Chirac said he was “a bit surprised” at the leak and has asked Defense Minister Michele Alliot-Marie to probe how a document from a French foreign intelligence service was published in the French press.

The regional newspaper l’Est Republicain on Saturday printed what it described as a copy of a confidential document from the DGSE intelligence service citing an uncorroborated report from Saudi secret services that the leader of the al-Qaida terror network had died.

Officials from Afghanistan to Washington expressed doubts about the report.

Two American intelligence officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue said Saturday that U.S. agencies have no evidence to suggest a reason to believe that bin Laden is dead or dying.

The DGSE transmitted the document, dated Sept. 21 or Thursday, to Chirac and other top French officials, the newspaper said.

“This information is in no way whatsoever confirmed,” Chirac said Saturday when asked about the document. “I have no comment.”

Look for an audio recording of Bin Laden within hours.

Might this be an operation to find UBL and/or Dr. Ayman Muhammad Rabaie al-Zawahiri or other Al Qaeda operatives?

    Doubtful

    But, will Al Qaeda respond?

Time is reporting that bin Laden may be very sick with a “serious water-borne illness,” from “credible Saudi sources:”

Fugitive Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, believed to be on the run in rugged terrain in the Afghan-Pakistani border region since the September 11 attacks five years ago, has become seriously ill and may have already died, a Saudi source tells TIME, echoing earlier reports in the French media.

The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, says that Saudi officials have received multiple credible reports over the last several weeks that Bin Laden has been suffering from a water-borne illness. The source believes that there is a “high probability” that Bin Laden has already died from the disease, but stressed that Saudi officials have thus far received no concrete evidence of Bin Laden’s death.

“This is not a rumor,” says the source. “He is very ill. He got a water-related sickness and it could be terminal. There are a lot of serious facts about things that have actually happened. There is a lot to it. But we don’t have any concrete information to say that he is dead.”

     Dr. Rusty

Damn, it feels good to be a gangsta today! First, bin Laden is reportedly dead. Or dying. Or whatever. In any event, I don’t believe it. But it’s the kind of rumor I dig. Thanks to everyone that e-mailed it to me. The way I read the report, though, was not that bin Laden is dead, but that he is very sick. (knock on wood either way)

But a much bigger story is that the leader of Ansar al Sunnah, Muntasir al-Jibouri, has been captured! This is big news. And unlike the bin Laden ‘news’, this one seems likely to be true.

We should be shouting for joy that the leader of Ansar al Sunnah has been captured. This should just as big as when we got Zarqawi. It is that important.

Ansar al Sunnah’s organizational structure is not as well know as al Qaeda’s. It appears, though, that al-Jibouri’s voice can be heard on at least two hostage murder videos-and probably many many more (thanks to Mike for the reminder). Like Zarqawi, al Jibouri is said to have personally murdered many of Ansar al Sunna’s victims.

For awhile, Abu Musab al Zarqawi and the terrorist bastards at Ansar al Sunna appeared to be in a pissing match over who could behead the most civilians. Just this month the group posted a gruesome video of the beheading of 3 Iraqis.

Who are Ansar al Sunna, you say? I don’t blame you for not knowing, I blame the ignorant press. And the Democrats. The press because they speak of insurgents in Iraq, and not terrorists. And the Democrats because they speak as if any one who is not formally within al Qaeda is not a terrorist. Eg., Saddam did not support terrorists because there was no link to al Qaeda. Idiots.

Ansar al Sunnah is the second worst terrorist organization in Iraq. They are probably made up of the remnants of Ansar al Islam, and mostly operate in Iraq’s North. They are also Kurds. Occasional they pull off an operation in Kurdistan, but the Peshmerga (Kurdish fighters, secularists) have effectively wiped them out. The Kurds know what to do with Islamist terrorists. They kill them.

France Watch: France rejects “War on Terror”

    franceseptember7aweb

France’s Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin delivers a speech during a debate on the Lebanon crisis at the National Assembly in Paris September 7, 2006.

AP: France rejects “war on terror”

France issued an implicit criticism of U.S. foreign policy on Thursday, rejecting talk of a “war on terror.”

Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin, speaking in parliament, expressed these views on global terrorism, while President Jacques Chirac backed France’s claims to the international front rank with a fresh defense of his country’s nuclear arsenal.

Villepin noted Chirac’s strong opposition to the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003 and said the Arab state had now sunk into violence and was feeding new regional crises.

“Let us not forget that these crises play into the hands of all extremists,” the prime minister said in a debate on the Middle East. “We can see this with terrorism, whether it tries to strike inside or outside our frontiers,” he added.

“Against terrorism, what’s needed is not a war. It is, as France has done for many years, a determined fight based on vigilance at all times and effective cooperation with our partners.

    France surrenders AGAIN.

These MORONS in France are not fooling anyone. They are feckless and have a large immigrant Muslim population that are treated like shit by the native born French and are ready to burn Paris down – like last year.

So, the center-right leaders of the French government will run against Bush to deflect the radical left, win re-election and then what?

Probably more riots and a government war against French Islamic Jihadists fought on the streets of Paris.

    What global war on terror?
