Shocker: Obama Becomes Irritated With The Press – The Press War Has Started

    Obama-not-the-time-for-ques

    Shocker?

Not Really. Remember all of the Obama schmoozing in the world will not stop the eventual press war.

    So, President Obama becomes irritated.

President Obama made a surprise visit to the White House press corps Thursday night, but got agitated when he was faced with a substantive question.

Asked how he could reconcile a strict ban on lobbyists in his administration with a Deputy Defense Secretary nominee who lobbied for Raytheon, Obama interrupted with a knowing smile on his face.

“Ahh, see,” he said, “I came down here to visit. See this is what happens. I can’t end up visiting with you guys and shaking hands if I’m going to get grilled every time I come down here.”

Pressed further by the Politico reporter about his Pentagon nominee, William J. Lynn III, Obama turned more serious, putting his hand on the reporter’s shoulder and staring him in the eye.

“Alright, come on” he said, with obvious irritation in his voice. “We will be having a press conference at which time you can feel free to [ask] questions. Right now, I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself to you guys – that’s all I was trying to do.”

The president was quickly saved by a cameraman in the room who called out: “I’d like to say it one more time: ‘Mr. President.’ ”

    It is just starting.

Here is the video where President Obama dodges Politico’s Jonathan Martin’s question:

    Oh the transparency……

    Update:

    The press is also pissed
about being excluded from the second swearing in ceremony.

News organizations that cover the White House sparred with the Obama administration on Thursday over access issues for photographers and rules for briefings.

Representatives from Obama’s press office held a conference call with photo editors, who are concerned that the administration prefers distributing photos taken by a White House photographer in cases where photojournalists have been permitted access in the past. It was unclear whether the two sides had reached any accommodation.

The Associated Press, Reuters and Agence France-Presse refused to distribute photos taken by the White House of the new president on his first day in the Oval Office because of the dispute. Still photographers were also not given access to Obama’s do-over oath of office administered Wednesday night by Chief Justice John Roberts and an economics meeting on Thursday.

Television network bureau chiefs also protested the exclusion of video cameras from the second oath of office.

Caroline Kennedy Withdraws From Senate Appointment Due to Rumored Affair with New York Times Publisher Arthur Sulzberger, Jr.?

New York Times Publisher Arthur Sulzberger, Jr. hugs Caroline Kennedy

Bill O’Reilly pushed up this RUMOR tonight on his show tonight first thing – Caroline Kennedy withdrew her name from consideration to be appointed the Hillary Clinton’s U.S. Senate seat because of her affair (Caroline is married) with the New York Times publisher (Arthur Sulzberger, Jr. left his wife in 2008).

Gawker noted the connection back in December 2008 but didn’t anyone notice? Or were they afraid of the Kennedy Klan and the New York Times wrath?

Why would Caroline put herself at risk of public exposure by seeking Hillary’s seat? I mean, of all places, media-centric New York City.

    Is it the Kennedy arrogance?

The Obama Schmoozing of the Press and the Eventual Press War

Barack Obama at George Wills home

President-elect Barack Obama waves to reporters as he arrives at a conservative columnist George Will’s private residence for a dinner in Chevy Chase, Md., Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009

Jack Shafer has it just about right.

So having won the election without wooing the press, what is Obama’s new press strategy?

Courtship! On Tuesday night, Obama dined at George F. Will’s house with name-brand conservatives Charles Krauthammer, David Brooks, William Kristol, Paul Gigot, Peggy Noonan, Michael Barone, and Larry Kudlow. The liberal commentariat got their audience the next day, when Obama met with Eugene Robinson, Maureen Dowd, Frank Rich, E.J. Dionne, and others at his transition headquarters. As I write, he’s touring the Washington Post, where he was interviewed by the paper’s editorial board and its White House team.

The new romance goes only so far. He’s still avoided the “traditional” pre-inauguration interview with the New York Times, as Politico‘s Michael Calderone reported yesterday. Calderone catalogs the four substantive interviews Obama has given the Times over the last 18 months or so and notes the welter of miniature press conferences Obama has given to make transition announcements. What seems to irritate the Times the most is the president-elect’s dismissal of the order of things, which mandates a sit-down session with reporters.

Perhaps the Times should count its blessings. As of late, when Obama does speak, as he did on Dec. 7 on Meet the Press, Dec. 28 on 60 Minutes, and Jan. 11 on This Week With George Stephanopoulos, he tends not to say much. The closest Obama came to giving Stephanopoulos any news was when he answered a question about investigating torture and warrantless wiretapping under the Bush administration. Obama said, “We have not made final decisions.”

Yet, the MSM press was clearly accomodating to Obama during the Presidential campaign and never pressed him to answer any hard policy questions. They have continued the policy during the transition.

Obama is lately hailed as being smart and shrewd to preemptively defang the media – both left and right.

But, Obama becomes President next week and will finally have to make some decisions and be held accountable. Decisions that will likely be criticised in the written and spoken word.

    The press war is coming.

Sarah Palin Strikes Back Against The Media – Think You Have Heard the Last From Her?

In an lengthy interview for the forthcoming documentary “Media Malpractice” Governor Sarah Palin, for the first time at length, takes on the media coverage of her and the 2008 campaign

Flap is amazed at the negative BUZZ that Alaska Governor Sarah Palin continues to draw in the “Drive-by Media” and in the LEFT blogosphere.

A little more experience in public office, especially in foreign affairs and watch out. Flap sees 2008 for Palin as Reagan’s 1976 run against Gerald Ford – pre-emptive.

Sarah Palin will re-emerge on the national political stage sooner than the Democrats like to admit.

Shocker: Barack Obama is the Time Magazine Person of the Year

Barack Obama Time Person of the Year

No, not a shock. The Time Magazine Person of the Year is President-elect Barack Obama.

The magazine will feature (hits the newsstands tomorrow) long-lost college photos, an interview with Obama, an explanation of why he was chosen and more.

Who did you think Time Magazine was going to choose Sarah Palin?

By the way, the choice was so noteworthy that Time Magazine’s Jay Carney left Time to become Obama’s VP, Joe Biden’s flack.

Fancy that! All of Obama’s Chicagoland buddies are either in jail or facing prosecution for crimes regarding political corruption.

And, not a word of alarm was voiced by the “in the tank” MSM during the last few months before the election.

More media bankruptcies in the future – NO DOUBT.

Tribune Company – Parent of Los Angeles Times – BUSTO

    latimesnovember8bweb

The Tribune Company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy today.

The company that owns the Los Angeles Times, KTLA Channel 5 and the Chicago Tribune filed for bankruptcy protection today, seeking relief from $12 billion in debt that largely stems from last year’s leveraged buyout of the media firm.

Tribune Co. directors approved the action to seek Chapter 11 protection in a meeting today, saying they want to restructure payments to banks and other creditors, following real estate magnate Sam Zell’s purchase of the company last year.

Reportedly Zell will sell the Chicago Cubs to reorganize the company.

Flap would think baseball is more viable business-wise than the Tribune newspapers – hell, sell them instead.

When does Tribune apply for their government bailout?

Barack Obama this weekend released another You Tube video –  this time announcing his economic recovery plan. Obama is talking over the fawning MSM that MIGHT wake up and ask him “REAL” questions.

With Team Obama’s e-mail network of over ten million supporters, six to eight million cell phone numbers (from the text message announcement of Joe Biden as Vice President) and three million supporters on Facebook, Barack can talk over the press and go directly to his base.

    And, why not?

Obama has the best of both worlds.

    How will the GOP respond?

    So far with crickets……..

Bush Derangement Syndrome – Time for Him to Go

    bushliarweb

Damn, this lefty New York Times MORON cannot wait for President Bush to leave the Presidency.

Thanksgiving is next week, and President Bush could make it a really special holiday by resigning.

Seriously. We have an economy that’s crashing and a vacuum at the top. Bush — who is currently on a trip to Peru to meet with Asian leaders who no longer care what he thinks — hasn’t got the clout, or possibly even the energy, to do anything useful. His most recent contribution to resolving the fiscal crisis was lecturing representatives of the world’s most important economies on the glories of free-market capitalism.

Putting Barack Obama in charge immediately isn’t impossible. Dick Cheney, obviously, would have to quit as well as Bush. In fact, just to be on the safe side, the vice president ought to turn in his resignation first. (We’re desperate, but not crazy.) Then House Speaker Nancy Pelosi would become president until Jan. 20. Obviously, she’d defer to her party’s incoming chief executive, and Barack Obama could begin governing.

    Talk about Bush Derangement Syndrome.

Exit question: How long will the plunkers at the New York Times continue to bash Bush when he is out of office?
