CA-Gov Video: “The Way We Were” Starring Jerry and Bill

Posted Posted in Bill Clinton, Jerry Brown

This is hilarious especially with them making peace over at UCLA.

As Democrats on the UCLA campus here are preparing for their big get-out-the-vote rally starring former President Bill Clinton, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown and Lt. Gov. hopeful Gavin Newsom, the CA Republicans and the Meg Whitman campaign had a little bit of fun reminding folks that Brown and Clinton were not always such great buds.

So Team Whitman and the state GOP held a movie “premiere” at LA Live of “The Way We Were” this morning, starring the two Dems in some of their finer moments together in the 1992 presidential campaign.

What politically expedient hypocrites they are.

Chris, isn’t it interesting that Bill Clinton is being asked by the Democratic Party to carry the heavy burden of the campaign and not President Obama and the Congressional leadership? It reminds me of Rahm Emanuel and his 2006 hide the ball plan to elect supposed “moderate” Democrat Congressman in “red” districts.

The Democrats are representing their party as being one of a southern moderate President who said the Era of Big Government was over – not the party of socialized medical care and disastrous, wasteful government spending. Why don’t the Democrats put Nancy Pelosi or Barney Frank out on the stump?

Well, we know the answer.

President Clinton is at UCLA this morning to campaign for Jerry Brown who is running for California Governor. He will return this evening to campaign there for San Francisco Mayor “Any Twosome” Newsom who is running for Lt. Governor.

President Obama is coming to USC next Tuesday to campaign for Barbara Boxer.

Looks like Los Angeles County is a battleground area for the Democrats – a must win. Since it is a predominant “blue” voter area, they must be looking at their internal polls and worrying about turnout.

Unemployment is high in Los Angeles County with teacher, California state employee and unionized workers having been hit hard. The Democrats have to be concerned.

CA-Gov: Bill Clinton Still Feels Sorry for Jerry Brown Endorses Him for Governor

This video features an heated debate between Bill Clinton and Jerry Brown during the 1992 Democratic Primaries. Things get personal when Brown attacks Hillary

Does anyone REALLY think that Bill Clinton will push this flap aside? I think Bill Clinton pathetically feels sorry for Governor Moonbeam.

Not really but Bill knows that Obama is weak and Hillary might be able to make a come back – so he will play the game.

Former President Bill Clinton endorsed Jerry Brown’s bid to become governor on Tuesday, saying he and Brown had put the ugliness from their 1992 primary battle behind them and that Republican Meg Whitman’s ad that featured him was misleading.

“I strongly support Jerry Brown for governor because I believe he was a fine mayor of Oakland, he’s been a very good attorney general, and he would be an excellent governor at a time when California needs his creativity and fiscal prudence,” Clinton said in a statement to The Times.

CA-Gov: Will Bill Clinton Campaign for Jerry Brown?

John Burton, Chairman of the California Democratic Party

Well, this video was made a few days ago before Jerry Brown insulted the former President by dredging up the Monica Lewinsky affiar in this video:

My bet is that Bill will come out and campaign for San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom who is running for Lt. Governor (who endorsed Hillary when she was running for President) and stay away from his ego-challenged contemporary, Jerry Brown. But, then again, maybe Hillary feels threatened with the prospect of a Governor Meg Whitman.

Well, whoever posted the video of Jerry Brown dissing bill Clinton has now taken it down form Youtube. But, here are the juicy quotes:

Jerry Brown has spent much of his race for governor assaulting the character of his Republican rival Meg Whitman. But now, in a jaw-dropping bit of rhetoric, he’s extended his criticism to a former Democratic president, Bill Clinton. And he did so by referring obliquely to Clinton’s dalliance with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

Meg Whitman. She stops at nothing. She’s even got Clinton lying about me. That’s right. No, did you see that? Where he said I raised taxes. It’s a lie, he told a crowd at an East Los Angeles event Sunday. & I mean Clinton’s a nice guy but whoever said he always told the truth? You remember, right? There’s that whole story there about did he or didn’t he. OK, I did& I did not have taxes with this state.

The last line was a play on Clintons defense against the brewing scandal in early 1998 that he had a relationship with Lewinsky. At the time, Clinton asserted, I did not have sexual relations with that woman. Clinton subsequently admitted to an improper relationship with her and faced impeachment proceedings.

Jerry Brown can LIE, but Governor Moonbeam cannot hide – from the truth that is.

Here is the devastating ad from Republican Meg Whitman exposing Jerry Brown’s tax rasing policy while he was California Governor during the 1970’s and 80’s.

Here are the facts from Factcheck.org and the State of California Department of Finance.

I don’t think California voters are going to think too highly of Jerry Brown for:

1. Lying about former President Bill Clinton who, by the way, remains very popular in California.

2. Lying about his tax raising policies and rewriting his history as California Governor.

Update:

Now, Jerry Brown has apologized – at a hastily called news conference.

“Bill Clinton was an excellent president. It was wrong for me to joke about an incident from many years ago, and I’m sorry,” Brown said before attempting to steer the discussion back to questions about Whitman’s honesty.

“She hasn’t told the truth about my record as governor. She hasnt told the truth about my record as mayor. She hasn’t even told the truth about her own record,” Brown said. “I’ve made my share of mistakes, and my inappropriate joke about President Clinton is one of them. But from me you’ll always get the truth.”

Uh Huh……

Jerry Brown is an OLD MORON – jeez…..
