An Italian U.N. peacekeeper sits on top of an armored personnel carrier with a machine gun, as he passes a billboard showing Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, left, and Hezbollah leader Sheik Hassan Nasrallah, right, on a road in the southern village of Borj Qalaway, Lebanon, Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006 as part of a French UNIFIL convoy to be deployed in southern Lebanon. French, Spanish and Italian troops are joining the UNIFIL peacekeeping force in Lebanon as it expands from 2,000 soldiers to 15,000 under a new Security Council resolution.

AFP: Iran leader says pope remarks part of US-Israeli conspiracy

Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei has said remarks by the pope on Islam and violence were just the latest “links in the chain” of a US-Israeli conspiracy aimed at creating conflict between religions.

“Leaders of the arrogant imperialists have already defined the links of the chain in this US-Zionist project by attacking Iraq,” Khamenei said in comments broadcast on state television.

“The issue of insulting cartoons and remarks of some politicians about Islam are different links in the conspiracy of the crusaders and the pope’s remarks are the latest links in this,” he added.

BULL

Ask Khamenei about HIS state sponsorship of terror abroad in order to spread militant radical Islam.

How do you spell Hezbollah?

The text of the Pope’s speech is here.

And what about Iran’s quest for a nuclear weapon – to be used to “wipe Israel off the face of the earth.”

If the Mullah Khamenei wants to make the Global War on Terror a War of Civilizations – Flap says bring on the Crusade.

Stay tuned…..

Pope Benedict XVI Watch: Al Qaeda – “JIHAD” Against the “Worshippers of the Cross”

Pope Benedict gestures to the faithful during his Sunday Angelus prayer from his summer residence in Castel Gandolfo, outside Rome, September 17, 2006.

Reuters: “Jihad” vowed over Pope speech

An Iraqi militant group led by al Qaeda vowed a war against the “worshippers of the cross” in response to a recent speech by Pope Benedict on Islam that sparked anger across the Muslim world.

“We tell the worshipper of the cross (the Pope) that you and the West will be defeated, as is the case in Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya,” said an Internet statement by the Mujahideen Shura Council, an umbrella group led by Iraq’s branch of al Qaeda.

“We shall break the cross and spill the wine. … God will (help) Muslims to conquer Rome. … God enable us to slit their throats, and make their money and descendants the bounty of the mujahideen,” said the statement.

It was posted on Sunday on an Internet site often used by al Qaeda and other militant groups.

Will this announcement of JIHAD be a wake-up call for the feckless Europeans? America has been fighting the Islamofascists since September 11, 2001.

And what of the world’s Catholics? Will it be a call to arms?

You bet.

This is a depiction of the Holy Father from the Jihadis:

Attached is a picture of the Pope that is circulating in Qaeda-friendly chat rooms and websites. Lovely (and predictable) that they call for his beheading. The script in red calls for the Pope’s beheading. The rest of the translation: “Swine and servant of the cross, worships a monkey on a cross, hateful evil man, stoned Satan, may Allah curse him, blood-sucking vampire.”

Pope Benedict said on Sunday he was deeply sorry Muslims had been offended by his use of a Medieval quotation on Islam and violence. The remarks outraged Muslims and triggered protests and attacks on churches in several Arab towns.

Another militant group in Iraq, Ansar al-Sunnah, also vowed to fight Christians in retaliation.

“You will only see our swords until you go back to God’s true faith Islam,” it said in a separate Internet statement.

Al Qaeda in Iraq and other militant groups have staged suicide bombings and killings of foreign forces and members of the U.S.-allied government and security forces.

If a HOLY WAR is what the radical Islamists want they will get one from the “WORSHIPPERS OF THE CROSS.”

Flap reminds readers that the United States has been in a war against radical Islam for decades now.

Will America receive help now from other Christian yet Islamofascist appeasing nations?

Perhaps

Watch the LEFT blame this JIHAD on the Iraq War and President Bush.

Stay tuned……

Cox & Forkum: Critical Mass

FoxNews: Pope Says He’s ‘Deeply Sorry’ for Reaction to Islam Speech.

Pope Benedict XVI said Sunday that he was “deeply sorry” about the angry reaction to his recent remarks about Islam, which he said came from a text that did not reflect his personal opinion.Despite the statement, protests and violence persisted across the Muslim world, with churches set ablaze in the West Bank and a hard-line Iranian cleric saying the pope was united with President Bush to “repeat the Crusades.”

An Italian nun also was gunned down in a Somali hospital where she worked, and the Vatican expressed concern that the attack was related to the outrage over the pope’s remarks.

Benedict sparked the controversy when, in a speech Tuesday to university professors during a pilgrimage to his native Germany, he cited the words of a Byzantine emperor who characterized some of the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, Islam’s founder, as “evil and inhuman.”

On Sunday, he stressed the words “were in fact a quotation from a medieval text which do not in any way express my personal thought.”

Michelle Malkin has Report: Catholic priest missing in Iraq; London jihadis: “Pope Benedict watch your back”

Blogger Joee in London (via LGF) reports on jihadists threatening Catholics outside Westminster Cathedral today:

Holy Mass on a Sunday is the very source and summit of the Catholic week, so my family decided this Sunday to make the trip to Westminster Cathedral together. As we came out about 100 Islamists were chanting slogans such as “Pope Benedict go to Hell” “Pope Benedict you will pay, the Muja Hadeen are coming your way” “Pope Benedict watch your back” and other hateful things. I’ll post more pictures of it when I get more free time. It was a pretty nasty demonstration. From 11 – 3pm they chanted absurd things, literally just outside the Cathedral. And from 11- 3pm (and indeed all day, every day) like every day of the week, faithful Catholics and non-Catholics (mainly tourists) wondered in and out of the magnificent Church, largely ignoring the furore of hatred this crowd of muslims was trying to stir up……I feel a bit uneasy posting the above, so any supportive comments would be very much appreciated!

Pope Benedict XVI greets the pilgrims and faithful in the courtyard of his summer residence in Castel Gandolfo, outside Rome, during his traditional Sunday Angelus prayer. Pope Benedict XVI sought to mollify Muslim anger, saying he was “deeply sorry” for the outrage sparked by his recent remarks on Islam and stressing they did not reflect his personal opinion.

AP: Pope sorry for reaction to his remarks

Pope Benedict XVI said Sunday that he was “deeply sorry” about the angry reaction to his recent remarks about Islam, which he said came from a text that did not reflect his personal opinion.

Despite the statement, protests and violence persisted across the Muslim world, with churches set ablaze in the West Bank and a hard-line Iranian cleric saying the pope was united with President Bush to “repeat the Crusades.”

If the Crusades is what the Islamic world wants then they are sadly apt to obtain what they desire – providing they continue their irrational violent behavior.

The Pope did NOT apologize for his speech. The text of the speech is here.

However, the Pope’s statement that he is “deeply sorry” will NOT mollify the Islamists who want the Pope and Christians to surrender and humble/abase themselves before their God.

But, was the Pope correct in his comments about Islam and violence?

You betcha…..

This undated photo provided Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006 by the family of Sister Leonella, shows Italian nun Sister Leonella, right, sitting with an unidentified aunt in Rezzanello di Gazzola, near Piacenza, Italy. Gunmen killed Sister Leonella and her bodyguard Sunday at the entrance of the hospital where she worked in Mogadishu, Somalia, officials said _ an attack some feared could be linked to Muslim anger toward Pope Benedict XVI.

AP: Italian nun shot dead by Somali gunmen

Two gunmen killed an Italian nun and her bodyguard at a hospital Sunday, and a security official for an Islamic militia controlling the capital speculated the attack was linked to worldwide Muslim anger over a speech by Pope Benedict XVI.

The nun, whose identify was not released, was shot in the back four times at the entrance to the Austrian-run S.O.S. Hospital in northern Mogadishu, said Dr. Mohamed Yusuf, a physician at the facility, which serves mothers and children.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, which came hours after a leading Somali cleric condemned remarks by the pope that quoted a Byzantine emperor who characterized some of the teachings of Islam’s founder as “evil and inhuman.”

The head of security for the Islamic militia, Yusuf Mohamed Siad, said one man had been arrested and a second was being hunted. He said the killing might have stemmed from the uproar over the pope but stressed he didn’t know for sure.

“They could be people annoyed by the pope’s speech, which angered all Muslims in the world, or they could have been having something to do with S.O.S,” he said. “We will have to clarify this through our investigation.”

Yeah right……

Remember it was the Somali Islamic Cleric Sheikh Abubukar Hassan Malin who called for the pope’s death.

Pope Benedict XVI Watch: Pope To Address Muslim FLAP

Posted 2 CommentsPosted in Christianity, Islam, Pope Benedict XVI, Religion

Pope Benedict XVI waves farewell from the gangway of the Munich international airport September 14, 2006. The Pope is sorry Muslims were offended by a speech on Islam that provoked fury around the world and led to calls for the leader of the Catholic church to apologise, an aide said on Saturday.
CNN: Pope to address Muslim furor

In the wake of an enraged response to his comments about Muslims, Pope Benedict XVI planned to address the controversy when he gives his regular Sunday blessing, or Angelus, from his summer residence at Castel Gandolfo, southeast of Rome, sources told CNN.

It will be Benedict’s first public appearance since Tuesday, when he quoted 14th-century Byzantine emperor Manuel II Paleologus in a speech in Germany.

Pope Benedict XVI has said he is “very upset” that his speech on Islam offended Muslims and expressed his respect for their faith, according to the Vatican.

Vatican spokesman Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone said in a statement on Saturday the pope’s position on Islam was unmistakably in line with Vatican teaching that the Church “esteems Muslims, who adore the only God.”

The pope is “very upset that some parts of his speech could have sounded offensive to the sensibility of the Muslim faithful and were interpreted in a way that does not correspond at all to his intentions,” Bertone added. (Full statement)

The Pope’s address will be at 3 AM Pacific Daylight time.

Flap will report on it in the morning.

Stay tuned…….

Palestinians look at a fire at the gate of an Anglican church after it was hit by a firebomb in the West Bank city of Nablus September 16, 2006. Palestinian gunmen attacked churches in the West Bank and Gaza Strip on Saturday after a day of protests against comments Pope Benedict made about Islam. Five churches came under attack in the West Bank city of Nablus, where militant groups have long been the dominating force.

AFP: Taliban demands Pope to apologise for anti-Islam remarks

Afghanistan’s Taliban on Saturday demanded Pope Benedict XVI to apologise for remarks linking Islam with violence, adding the comment showed the Christian West was waging war against Muslims.

“We strongly condemn it,” Mohammad Hanif, who regularly speaks to the media on behalf of the extremist insurgent group, said.

“We also want the Pope to apologise before the Muslim Umma (nation),” he said.

The remarks were “obviously part of a crusader war that the West, chiefly America and (President) Bush, is waging against Islam and Muslims,” he said.

Apologize for what?

What Pope Benedict said was true. The entire text of the speech is here.

Arab op-ed: Pope’s remarks may lead to war

Muslim world newspapers filled with articles slamming pope’s remarks; ‘it is clear that such remarks only contribute to the fueling of the fire raging between Islam and the West,’ op-ed published in al-Sharq al-Awsat says

The first nuclear armed ICBM’s should target Mecca and Medina.

End of story.

In the meantime, Somali cleric calls for pope’s death

A HARDLINE cleric linked to Somalia’s powerful Islamist movement has called for Muslims to “hunt down” and kill Pope Benedict XVI for his controversial comments about Islam.

Sheikh Abubukar Hassan Malin urged Muslims to find the pontiff and punish him for insulting the Prophet Mohammed and Allah in a speech that he said was as offensive as author Salman Rushdie’s novel The Satanic Verses.

The Pope’s point exactly. But, Christianity will NOT submit to Islam.

And inter-faith reconciliation/dialogue? Uh – NO!

Saudi Arabia’s grand mufti: Pope’s comments lies

Saudi Arabia’s highest religious authority, Grand Mufti Abdul-Aziz al-Sheik, said in remarks published Saturday that the pope’s comments on Islam were “all lies.”

“These are all lies. The prophet (Muhammad), peace be upon him, came as a mercy to the world,” the daily al-Riyadh newspaper quoted al-Sheik as saying.

He said the pontiff’s remarks showed reconciliation between religions was impossible
.
“Everybody should know by now that all claims about religions’ reconciliation have just been proven to be lies in reality,” al-Sheik said. “How can they think of reconciliation while insulting Islam and the prophet?”
