SNL Parodies of Clint Eastwood’s Half Time in America Are Really Stupid

The first one below is for the third quarter and calls Rick Santorum a “PUSSY” – real mature NBC.

This second one is for the fourth quarter and talks about Newt Gingrich having a big head = more name calling.

The third one, I won’t even bother, since it is just nonsense.

I understand this is supposed to be comedy, but this exercise like many over there at NBC just seem to be simple name calling of Republican POLS. Where is your parody of Obama, Lorne?

    Go figure….

President 2012: Newt Gingrich Says a Vote for Santorum is a Vote for Romney

Newt Gingrich speaking at the South Carolina Presidential debate in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina last night

There is little doubt that Rick Perry, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich are dividing up the conservative vote.

“If you vote for Sen. Santorum, in effect, you’re functionally voting for Gov. Romney to be the nominee. The only way to stop Mitt Romney, for all practical purposes, is to vote for Newt Gingrich. It’s a fact. It’s a mathematical fact,” Gingrich said to reporters after an event in Myrtle Beach, according to the Wall Street Journal.

“Any conservative who votes for anyone but Newt helps elect a moderate as the nominee,” Gingrich added.

The former House Speaker went on to criticize Santorum’s defeat in 2006 to Democratic Sen. Bob Casey, in which the incumbent earned just over 41 percent of the vote and lost by more than 700,000 votes.

“Evangelical voters would like to have a nominee that will win a general election, and somebody who set the all-time Pennsylvania record for the size of their defeat has a harder case to make as to why they could be elected,” Gingrich said.

Newt has a point, but I doubt Santorum or Perry will voluntarily withdraw with only a few days before the South Carolina primary election.

Now, after Saturday’s election, this may be a different story.

President 2012: Gingrich and Santorum Get Testy with Opponents on the Day of the Iowa Caucus

First, there is Newt going ballistic at Mitt Romney:

Newt should probably be mad about his abysmal campaign response to Romney’s negative television ads who everyone knew were going to hit him.

Then, there is Rick Santorum going after Ron Paul.

“Ron Paul is disgusting,” presidential candidate Rick Santorum said to a handful of Fox News and Business reporters shortly after his Fox and Friends interview Tuesday morning.

Santorum blamed his rival for Iowa robo calls that claimed that the former U.S. senator from Pennsylvania was Pro-Choice and against the second amendment.

There will be some bad blood among the GOP ranks after Iowa tonight.

    But, hey, isn’t that politics?

President 2012: CNN/Tea Express GOP Debate Winners and Losers

David Brody interviews former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum

After watching last night’s GOP Presidential debate, I am wondering how and where the GOP got to this place with the top two candidates being Rick Perry and Mitt Romney with an assorted supporting cast. The field could use another candidate or two – calling Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels or Representative Paul Ryan – PLEASE RUN.

The current GOP Presidential field is very weak, each candidate has a track record that can be exploited in the primary elections and by the Democrats in the general election. But, with that said, Sarah Palin has said it is a time for choosing and choose we must.

    Winner: Mitt Romney

Mitt Romney appeared Presidential, looked good in his skin and his suit was impeccable. Romney shows that he is a cool, calculated character who is not easily rattled. His experience in running for the Presidency these past 6-8 years shows. RomneyCare looms in the background and is very exploitable by the Obama team – they can hardly wait as a matter of fact. But, it might not help Obama and Axelrod with this very poor American economy.

Romney was able to attack Rick Perry with a smile on his face and the nasty direct mail in his back pocket. The attack television ads, especially in Nevada and Florida are just a few months away. Everyone knows they are coming. The issue will be Social Security and Romney will drive Perry into the ground with the term Ponzi Scheme.

    Biggest Loser: Rick Perry

Rick Santorum’s quote in the video above is the most telling, “The more I find out about Rick Perry the more concern I have.” This was my feeling and that of the Twitterverse last night. This morning the MSM is piling on Perry.

The Texas Governor continued his folksy way, but did not answer the Social Security Ponzi Scheme questions. Perry has put forward no entitlement reform plan. Romney attacked the issues and the others piled on.

The Gardisil, “government injection” flap was devastating to Perry. We all knew it was coming and exploitable, but Michele Bachmann thrust in the knife and Rick Santorum twisted it. Perry made a poor policy decision, and certainly not a one that will endear him to conservatives – or anyone for that matter. Bachmann’s framing of the issue as “crony capitalism” and a pay off from lobbyists will be replayed time and again.

Next, was the illegal immigration issue and the Texas Dream Act. Perry signed the bill giving the children of illegal aliens an entitlement paid by American citizen taxpayers and was booed by the Tea Party crowd. Immigration is not a primary issue because the GOP controls the House, but conservatives and the Tea Party have to be wondering if this former Al Gore supporter will not be another Bush and/or McCain pushing comprehensive immigration reform. Being booed by the Tea Party is NOT a good thing for Rick Perry.

None of these single issues are fatal to the Perry campaign, but voters have to be wondering, why is Rick Perry considered the front-runner?

    Losers: All of the rest

Michele Bachmann did OK and I can see her doing well in Iowa. But, her vision is narrow, has no executive experience and her voice grates on me after a few minutes.

Jon Huntsman – made wise-ass jokes about Nirvana and immigration (to Perry) and has revealed him as the rich, arrogant ass that he is. Huntsman is through with his Presidential run for this year and all time. Done – put a fork in him.

All of the rest have NO chance and debate organizers should limit the number of participants to 3 or 4, plus any newcomers.

    Another candidate:

The GOP Establishment must be scrambling this morning after Rick Perry’s implosion. There are better GOP candidates out there and they should be asked to run. Mitch Daniels, Chris Christie, Rudy Giuliani, Paul Ryan are all better candidates, than any in the field. Sarah Palin probably won’t run, but she could beat these characters.

If this is the best field, then you go with Romney, run the Senate races hard and keep your fingers crossed that Obama is so weak that Romney can manage a small win. The GOP will hedge its bets by winning the U.S. Senate and effectively blocking the lame duck Obama.

I was very disappointed in this debate and am certainly not as optimistic that Obama will be a one term President as I was prior.

  • Barack Obama,  Mike Huckabee,  Mitt Romney,  Newt Gingrich,  Polling,  President 2012,  Rick Santorum,  Sarah Palin

President 2012 Pennsylvania Poll Watch: Huckabee 45% Vs. Obama 44% – Romney 43% Vs. Obama 42%

According to the latest PPP Poll.

    Job Approval Vs. Disapproval:

    • President Barack Obama – 42% Vs. 52%

Pennsylvania is looking like a potential problem for the incumbent President. Obama won Pennsylvania in 2008 by double digits.

Obama has two major problems in the state: independents and white Democrats. A majority of independents disapprove of him- 54% give him bad marks to 39% who think he’s doing a good job. More concerning is that his approval rating with Democrats is only 68%, well below the 81% we find for him nationally. He’s doing fine with black Democrats- an 86% approval rating- but with white Democrats he’s at only a 64/27 spread.

Those numbers suggest that a lot of the voters who fueled Hillary Clinton’s primary victory in the state and then sucked it up and voted for Obama in the general election the last time around haven’t been real thrilled with what they’ve seen from him so far and could split their tickets next year- if the Republicans put up someone who’s seen as a reasonable alternative.

    Favorable Vs. Unfavorable:

    • Mike Huckabee – 37% Vs. 43%
    • Mitt Romney – 31% Vs. 41%
    • Rick Santorum – 37% Vs. 47%
    • Newt Gingrich 25% Vs. 54%
    • Sarah Palin – 33% Vs. 61%

    Head to Head:

    • Romney – 43% Vs. Obama – 42%
    • Huckabee – 45% Vs. Obama – 44%
    • Obama – 45% Vs. Santorum – 43%
    • Obama – 47% Vs. Gingrich – 39%
    • Obama – 50% Vs. Palin – 39%

I have earlier selected Pennsylvania as a key battleground state that the GOP must win in order to beat President Obama. This poll is a good start, and indicates that at this early stage Pennsylvania is in play, provided the GOP nominates the right candidate.

    The entire poll is here.

Video: Rick Santorum Crawls Back to Sarah Palin

Former Pennsylvania U.S. Senator Rick Santorum on Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren Show

White Sarah Palin was on Hannity calling Rick Santorum a Neanderthal of sorts, Rick was busy walking back his comments he made to S.E. Cupp.

“This is a news story. Could they have said ‘is that what you meant?’

And I would have said ‘No’ — that we know that I know, because, because she does — we’ve watched, I think, we’ve watched every episode of Sarah Palin’s Alaska. We enjoy it. We like to watch with the family. I know she has obligations to do other things.

…. I just assumed she was busy, that’s all.”

How do you spell damage control from the claws of the Mama Grizzly?

Video: Rick Santorum Steps Into It with CPAC Criticism of Sarah Palin

Former Pennsylvania U.S. Senator Rick Santorum with S. E. Cupp.

Yeah, Rick stepped into the pile with his backhand criticism of Sarah Palin. I knew it was going to be a FLAP because shortly after the quotes hit Twitter, Tammy Bruce was tweeting barbs against him.

Here is Sarah Palin’s response on Fox News last night.

Santorum was not very bright in attacking Sarah Palin. What does he gain?

S.E. CUPP: What about Sarah Palin turning down the keynote? What do you think happened there?

SANTORUM: I don’t know. You know, I have a feeling she has some demands on her time, and a lot of them have financial benefit attached to them, so I’m sure that she’s doing what’s best for her and her family.

CUPP: You wouldn’t have turned it down.

SANTORUM: Well, no, I wouldn’t have turned it down, but I don’t live in Alaska, right, and I’m not the mother to all these kids, and I don’t have other responsibilities like she has.

Note how Mitt Romney has been treating Sarah – with kid gloves and always supportive. Mitt relishes her support, if she does not run. Mitt makes nice and alienates nobody.

I don’t think Rick Santorum with the attacks on Palin’s family will ever receive any.

  • Carly Fiorina,  Rick Santorum

Video: CA-Sen: Rick Santorum Endorses Carly Fiorina

Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum endorses Carly Fiorina for California U.S. Senate

Another conservative endorsement for Carly Fiorina.

I am endorsing a fellow conservative who is running for the U.S. Senate in the hotly contested Republican primary race in California.

Carly Fiorina is a solid conservative who has solid pro-life values. She will support and defend Americans’ Second Amendment rights, and she has been outspoken in her opposition to the higher taxes and big-government policies championed by President Obama and his Democratic allies in Washington.

Carly Fiorina has earned significant conservative credibility through the endorsements of groups like the Susan B. Anthony List and the National Right to Life Committee. She has also earned support from such conservative figures as Oklahoma senators Tom Coburn and James Inhofe, Arizona senator Jon Kyl, and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin.

Sarah Palin and now Santorum endorse. Looks like the anti-DeMint conservative crowd is lining up for Carly.

Republican National Chairman Michael Steele on GOP Senator Arlen Specter’s Party Switch

    Michael Steele

Republican National Chairman Michael Steele responds to a question during a news conference before the Vanderburgh County Right to Life fundraising dinner in Evansville, Ind., Thursday, April 16, 2009

    Republican National Chairman Michael Steele:

Some in the Republican Party are happy about this. I am not.

Let’s be honest-Senator Specter didn’t leave the GOP based on principles of any kind. He left to further his personal political interests because he knew that he was going to lose a Republican primary due to his left-wing voting record.

Republicans look forward to beating Sen. Specter in 2010, assuming the Democrats don’t do it first.

And, there is a possiblity that former Pennsylvania United States Senator Rick Santorum will run against Pat Toomey for the GOP nomination.

A Santorum vs. Specter race will be a sight to behold.
