NV-Sen GOP Poll Watch: Rep. Dean Heller Ready to Unseat Sen. John Ensign?

Nevada Rep Dean Heller speaking on House floor against ObamaCare

It certainly looks like it in this private, commissioned poll.

Rep. Dean Heller (R-NV) “all but telegraphed his intention” to challenge Sen. John Ensign (R-NV) in a GOP primary by giving Jon Ralston a poll he commissioned showing he leads the incumbent senator by double-digits, 53% to 38%.

“The survey, taken last month, is the strongest indication yet that Heller will take on Ensign — otherwise, I would not have these results because if he were not running, these numbers would never have seen the light of day. He took a poll to gauge his competitiveness, and these results have to have thrilled him.”

Yes, Heller will run and beat the ethics challenged Senator Ensign – if Ensign even runs for re-election. I doubt Ensign bothers to run.

Watch Sharron Angle manuver to run for Dean Heller’s Congressional seat.

NV-Sen: The Sharron Angle Poll Surge Worries Harry Reid

Sharron Angle Vs. Harry Reid Poll Averages at Real Clear Politics

I would be worried too especially since Harry Reid has been running negative ads against Republican Sharron Angle all summer long.

New polling out of Nevada is unnerving Democrats who fear Republican Sharron Angle’s campaign is surging despite enduring millions of dollars’ worth of TV ad attacks from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

The three most recently released public polls show Angle with a nominal edge, though all have been within the margin of error.

While Reid’s campaign insists there is nothing to be nervous about, one Nevada Democratic strategist said that’s not the vibe behind the scenes.

“Reid’s people are really antsy,” said the strategist, who spoke on condition of anonymity because Reid’s far-reaching political machine tends to come down hard on those who talk out of school. “That’s why their external message has been to try really, really hard to discredit these polls. Angle is building a lot of momentum, and they don’t know how to stop it. This is exactly what happened during the primary.”

The economy is very poor in Nevada and when I went to Reno, earlier in the summer there were scores of vacant/deserted spaces in the shopping malls. And, the Nevada natives I spoke with were angry and were not voting for Harry Reid under any circumstance.

This race will go down to the wire but I am not surprised that Angle may be pulling away.

NV-Sen Poll Watch: Is Sharron Angle Starting to Pull Away from Harry Reid?

Perhaps with the latest Rasmussen poll results.

Republican challenger Sharron Angle has now moved to a four-point lead over Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in Nevada’s bare-knuckles U.S. Senate race.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Nevada Voters shows Angle hitting the 50% mark for the first time since mid-August, while Reid earns 46% of the vote. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate in the race, and two percent (2%) more are undecided.

This marks the widest gap between the two candidates since late June, but the race remains a Toss-Up in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Senate Balance of Power rankings.

Just over a week ago, the race was virtually tied, with Reid at 48% and Angle at 47%. The two have been separated by a gap of three points or less since Reid came charging back in June with a series of blistering attack ads on Angle.

This race will go down to the wire.

But, the economy in Nevada continues to struggle and Nevada voters are angry.

NV-Sen Poll Watch: Harry Reid Holds Narrow Lead

As I have said before this race will whip-saw back and forth as the ads spew forth on Nevada television.

The struggling U.S. economy is paramount in voters’ minds as they look ahead to the November 2 election in Nevada, with 74 percent citing the economy as their top concern, the poll of 600 Nevada voters done July 30-August 1 found.

And Nevada’s high jobless rate of 14.2 percent and rising home foreclosures and bankruptcies appear to be taking their toll on Reid in his attempt for a fifth six-year term. Seventy-one percent of registered voters said the state is on the wrong track.

Among voters who said they are likely to vote, Reid held a 48-44 percent lead over Republican challenger Sharron Angle, much narrower than the 52-36 percent edge he had over her among registered voters.

Angle is a conservative darling of the Tea Party movement who has drawn criticism from Reid over earlier campaign promises to “phase-out” two popular government programs for the elderly and poor, Social Security and Medicare.

Reid, as Senate majority leader, is one of the top Democrats in the country and has been a strong backer of President Barack Obama’s agenda. Obama has been to Nevada twice this year to speak on Reid’s behalf.

“He (Reid) is well within her striking distance,” said Ipsos pollster Julia Clark. “I think this one will go down to the wire and it will absolutely depend on turnout.

The economy is really poor in Nevada and from the looks of Las Vegas television (I am on vacation in Nevada) it is obvious with the ads for bankruptcy/foreclosure attorneys.

Harry Reid will have a lot of explaining to do after Labor Day on his abysmal Senate record whereas Angle will have to prove herself as not an extremist.

    Stay tuned……

NV-Sen: Harry Reid 43% Vs. Sharron Angle 42%

As I have said before this race is likely to go down to the wire. The Nevada economy really is in dire straits and unemployment is one of the highest, if not the highest in America.

Harry Reid has been and will be running negative ads against Angle all summer and the fall. But, the fact remains is that Harry Reid has been responsible and is a symbol of an ineffective Democrat controlled Congress.

One thing is for sure – the Democrat Party will be dumping millions of dollars in ads to defend Reid that could have gone to other races.

I’ll be heading out to Las Vegas on Monday and will report back on the ads and the state of the race.

Day By Day July 26, 2010 – Stealth Revealed

Day By Day by Chris Muir

The Nevada Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is in for a tough re-election race with Sharron Angle. The polls have been up and down for Angle but the real barometer will be the Nevada economy.

With Nevada having one of  the highest unemployment rates in the country, it will be tough for ANY incumbent politicians to win there in November.

When I traveled a few weeks ago to Reno, it was a stark reminder of hard economic times when I saw abandoned dwellings and commercial buildings. I don’t think those folks will be voting for the status quo – no matter how much money Harry Reid and the Democrats spend on television ads.
