Tim Mahoney Watch: Second Affair Rumors and FBI Investigation Haunt Florida Congressman

    From the Florida GOP

From the frying pan and into the fire goes Florida Democrat Tim Mahoney. Remember the FLAP.

Now, there is a story circulating around the internets that the Florida Congressman was involved with a second woman who was not his wife.

A married congressman who faces accusations that he had an affair with a former aide and paid her to keep quiet about it also was having an affair with a second woman around the same time, a person close to his campaign told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

Details of the second affair came hours after Democratic U.S. Rep. Tim Mahoney held a news conference to address a story, first reported by ABC News, that he had been involved with the former aide. Mahoney acknowledged he had caused “embarrassment and heartache” to his family but denied doing anything illegal.

Mahoney, 52, won his seat in 2006 while promising to return morals and family values to Washington in the aftermath of the resignation of former Republican U.S. Rep. Mark Foley. Foley stepped down when it was revealed he sent lurid Internet messages to male teenage pages who had worked on Capitol Hill. Foley was later cleared of criminal wrongdoing by state and federal authorities.

Mahoney’s seat was already considered to be one of the more competitive House races, and he has been facing a tough challenge in a district that traditionally leans slightly Republican. He faces former Army officer Tom Rooney, a lawyer whose family owns the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Key Mahoney graph or should Flap say KEY GAFFE from yesterday’s news conference:

“I have not violated my oath of office, nor have I violated any laws,” Mahoney said in the statement.

Plus, ABC News is reporting that the FBI is opening a preliminary investigation into the entire mess.

It would be safe to predict that Republican Tom Rooney will be the next Congressman from Florida’s 16th Congressional District.

Say Good Bye To Democrat Representative Tim Mahoney – The Reprise

    From the Florida GOP

Well, it didn’t take long for the GOP to go after Florida Democrat Representative Tim Mahoney, now did it?

The Cook Political Report has moved Florida’s 16th Congressional District (Mahoney’s) from lean Democrat to lean Republican.

Shocker: Rep. Tim Mahoney Asks for His Own Ethics Investigation

    tim Mahoney

On Monday Oct. 13, 2008 Representative Tim Mahoney, D-Florida called for an ethics investigation of himself amid reports that he had an affair and then paid the woman to keep her quiet.

    Remember the story from yesterday.

Remember Florida GOP Representative Mark Foley?

Now, his HYPOCRITE Democrat Congressional successor is  embroiled in his own sex scandal albeit a non-homosexual one.

West Palm Beach Congressman Tim Mahoney (D-FL), whose predecessor resigned in the wake of a sex scandal, agreed to a $121,000 payment to a former mistress who worked on his staff and was threatening to sue him, according to current and former members of his staff who have been briefed on the settlement, which involved Mahoney and his campaign committee.

Mahoney, who is married, also promised the woman, Patricia Allen, a $50,000 a year job for two years at the agency that handles his campaign advertising, the staffers said.

A Mahoney spokesperson would not answer questions about the alleged affair or the settlement, but said Allen resigned of her own accord and “has not received any special payment from campaign funds.”

Senior Democratic leaders in the House of Representatives, including Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-IL), the chair of the Democratic Caucus, have been working with Mahoney to keep the matter from hurting his re-election campaign, the Mahoney staffers said.

Now, Representative Mahoney has called for HIS OWN ethics investigation.

Rep. Tim Mahoney (D-Fla.) requested an ethics investigation of himself yesterday after ABC News reported that he paid hush money to a former mistress who once worked on his staff and was threatening to sue him.

According to ABC News’s Web site, which cited anonymous sources, Mahoney, 52, paid $121,000 to former staffer Patricia Allen and arranged a $50,000-a-year job for her at a Nashville-based public relations agency. Mahoney won the seat in 2006 after GOP Rep. Mark Foley resigned amid reports that he sent sexually themed electronic messages to male former congressional pages.

“While these allegations are based on hearsay, I believe that my constituents need a full accounting,” Mahoney, who is married, said in a statement yesterday that did not address whether the allegations were true. “As such, I have requested the House Ethics Committee to review these allegations. I am confident that when the facts are presented that I will be vindicated.”

    Say what?

This MORON cannot remember HIS OWN AFFAIR? Or COVER-UP?

    Geraghty ridicules Mahoney.

Florida voters will DO more by voting Mahoney out of office.

    Likely GOP pick-up.

Say good bye to Rep. Mahoney

Listen to Mahoney firing his mistress:

A conversation between Tim Mahoney and Patricia Allen terminating her.

“If you do the job that I think you should do, you get to keep your job. Whenever I don’t feel like you’re doing your job, then you lose your job,” Mahoney can be heard telling Allen.

“And guess what? The only person that matters is guess who? Me. You understand that. That is how life really is. That is how it works,” Mahoney says on the call.

“You’re fired,” Mahoney tells her. “Do you hear me? Don’t tell me whether it’s correct or not.”

Allen says, “Tell me why else I’m fired.”

“There is no why else,” Mahoney responds.

Later, Allen says, “You’re firing me for other reasons. You don’t, you’re not man enough to say it. So why don’t you say it.”

Well, looks like the GOP will regain this seat.

    Ta Da…….
