Day By Day November 23, 2011 – Glorious

    Day By Day by Chris

Yes, Chris, going all LOVEY DOVEY and anti-gun is really going to help America, particularly on the world stage. Look at the latest.

Russia will deploy new missiles aimed at U.S. missile defense sites in Europe if Washington goes ahead with the planned shield despite Russia’s concerns, President Dmitry Medvedev said Wednesday.

Russia will station missiles in its westernmost Kaliningrad region and other areas if Russia and NATO fail to reach a deal on the U.S.-led missile defense plans, he said in a tough statement that seemed to be aimed at rallying domestic support.

Weakness in an American President (like Obama is) has NEVER been a good thing for world peace.

Poll Watch: 31 Per Cent Agree With Obama’s Decision to Kill Missile Defense for Poland, Czech – Russia Stands Pat

europeanmissileshield Obama Administration Officials Head to Poland and Czech Republic to Kill Missile Defense?

But, only 38 per cent disagree.

Voters have mixed feelings about President Obama’s decision to halt the deployment of a proposed anti-missile shield in Eastern Europe, but many worry that it will hurt America’s relationship with its European allies.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 31% of voters agree with the decision to stop the shield, but 38% disagree. Thirty-two percent (32%) are not sure what’s best to do.

Fifty-eight percent (58%) of Republicans oppose the president’s decision, a view shared by the plurality (43%) of voters not affiliated with either major political party but only 15% of Democrats.

Among all voters, just 23% think the decision not to deploy the ground-based system will help America’s relationship with European countries. Forty-three percent (43%) say it will hurt that relationship, while 12% say it will have no impact. Twenty-two percent (22%) aren’t sure.

Let’s face it this issue is not on the front burner for most Americans. But, ONLY 31 per cent support “The One’s” decision.

How far has the mighty O fallen?

And, how have the Russians taken the news?

Russia’s top general said on Monday that plans to deploy missiles in an enclave next to Poland had not been shelved, despite a decision by the United States to rethink plans for missile defense in Europe.

The piece gos on to say that maybe the Russian missile depoloyments will be changed but the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will have to talk to Obama about it when they meet up later in September (in a few days).

Ok, so, in other words, we will see.

Nice move, Mr President – insult our allies, destabilize Eastern Europe, weaken United States defense and for what?

    A chat?

Russia To a WEAK Obama – No “HAGGLING” Over Missile Defense and Our Friend Iran

    Obama-rebuffed-by-Putin

Just like in Poker, Russia has called Baracack Obama’s bluff regarding missile defense and Iran.

Russian President Dmitri Medvedev on Tuesday showed willingness to discuss the US-planned missile defence system opposed by Moscow, but without “haggling” linking it to Iran. Medvedev was commenting during a visit to Spain on an alleged offer by US President Barack Obama to halt the defence system if Iran could be convinced to give up nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.

The New York Times earlier reported that Obama had sent a secret letter to Medvedev.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero in Madrid, Medvedev welcomed the “positive signals” coming from the Obama administration with which he hoped to reach “agreements.”

“Haggling,” however, was not “productive,” Medvedev said.

If the Obama administration showed “common sense” in proposing a “common shield against all types of threats” and reconsidered its plans of a missile defence system which could target Russia, Moscow would be prepared to negotiate, Medvedev said.

The New York Times reported earlier on its website that Obama last month offered a halt to the US-planned missile defence system opposed by Moscow if Iran could be convinced to relinquish nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.

Citing US officials speaking on condition of anonymity, the Times reported that Obama sent a secret letter three weeks ago to Medvedev.

The offer was described as offering Russia an incentive to help the US and other Western powers achieve a halt to any Iranian programmes that could lead to military nuclear capabilities and long- range delivery systems for warheads.

If the Iranian threat were removed, the US could forego the missile defence system, the letter was described as saying.

Does the United States look WEAK or what?

Barack Obama is a ROOKIE and the Russians know it and are playing him like a fiddle. Now, will Hillary who will meet with the Russians on Friday be able to save some face for America?

Exit question: Wonder if Obama will NOW change his negotiations with American enemies without preconditions APPEASEMENT policy?

Obama To Appease Russia on Missle Defense Plans?

    Obama-and-Putin

    Say what?

President Obama is writing Russia to bargain away missile defense plans in Poland and the Czech Republic for what?

Talking to Ahmadinejad and the Iranian Mullahs?

Washington has told Moscow that Russian help in resolving Iran’s nuclear program would make its missile shield plans for Europe unnecessary, a Russian daily said on Monday, citing White House sources.

U.S. President Barack Obama made the proposal on Iran in a letter to his Russian counterpart, Dmitry Medvedev, Kommersant said, referring to unidentified U.S. officials.

Iran’s controversial nuclear program was cited by the U.S. as one of the reasons behind its plans to deploy a missile base in Poland and radar in the Czech Republic. The missile shield has been strongly opposed by Russia, which views it as a threat to its national security. The dispute has strained relations between the former Cold War rivals, already tense over a host of other differences.

The leaders have exchanged letters and had a telephone conversation since Obama was sworn into office in January, Kommersant said. The first high-level Russia-U.S. meeting will take place later this week, when Russia Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov meets with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Geneva.

Moscow has not yet responded to the proposal by Obama, the paper said, adding that a decision was unlikely to be made during Lavrov and Clinton’s meeting.

Frak, the USA and Europe have been talking to the Iranians forever – to no result.

This is crazy nutsoid policy by the Obama administration. It drives a wedge between our NATO European allies and the Eastern Block nations of the former Soviet Union who want no part of Russia or missile threats from Iran.

Divide and conquer is the OBVIOUS Russian ploy here. No wonder Vladimir Putin is winking to Dmitry Medvedev above.

To think the Far LEFT actually thought President George W. Bush was stupid.

    If the shoe fits Obama.

Flap certainly does not feel safer tonight.

China and Russia Critical of U.S. Missile Defense

    Dmitry Medvedev and Hu Jintao

Russia’s President Dmitry Medvedev (R) and Chinese President Hu Jintao inspect the honour guard during an official welcome ceremony at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square May 23, 2008. Medvedev arrived in Beijing on Friday, offering energy deals and military cooperation by seeking pledges of solidarity with resurgent China at a time when ties with the West are strained.

In a shocker, China and Russia are upset with the United States over its National Missile Defense program.

China and Russia jointly condemned a U.S. plan for a global missile defense system on Friday at the start of a highly symbolic visit by new Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

More specific than previous joint criticisms, the statement from Medvedev and Chinese President Hu Jintao objected to the installation of missile defense components in “some regions,” an apparent reference to former Soviet bloc countries where the U.S. plans to deploy components of the system.

“The creation of global missile defense systems and their deployment in some regions of the world … does not help to maintain strategic balance and stability and hampers international efforts in arms control and nuclear nonproliferation,” Hu and Medvedev said.

Medvedev’s choice of China as the main destination of his first foreign trip reflected the two nations’ increasing closeness in recent years as part of their efforts to counterbalance what they have called Washington’s global dominance.

When his predecessor Vladimir Putin went abroad for the first time as president in 2000, he traveled to London — via Belarus — with a message Russia wanted closer ties to the West.

China and Russia also signed a $1 billion nuclear cooperation deal that strengthens Russia’s role as a supplier to China’s fast-growing nuclear power industry. It calls for Russia to build a $500 million nuclear fuel enrichment plant and supply semi-enriched uranium worth at least $500 million.

Russia is bitching about America placing interceptors in Eastern Europe and China needs Russia’s nuclear technology to build power plants. So, they are scratching each others backs.

    missilefefense

Russia and China do not have the conventional military strength to intimidate/blackmail neighboring countries and must rely on their nuclear weapons to threaten. The United States Missile Defense program (in its various forms) can be used to neutralize their nuclear arsenals.

    So, they bitch and moan.

Too bad. They lost the argument during the Reagan Administration over twenty years ago. The American missile defense shield is operational. Get over it.
