Harry Reid: “I Hope You Go Out of Business”

    Political Cartoon by Michael Ramirez

Nevada Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is behind in the polls and now is throwing his political weight around.

We’re still here doing what we do for the people of Las Vegas and Nevada. So, let me assure you, if we weathered all of that, we can damn sure outlast the bully threats of Sen. Harry Reid.

On Wednesday, before he addressed a Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce luncheon, Reid joined the chamber’s board members for a meet-‘n’-greet and a photo. One of the last in line was the Review-Journal’s director of advertising, Bob Brown, a hard-working Nevadan who toils every day on behalf of advertisers. He has nothing to do with news coverage or the opinion pages of the Review-Journal.

Yet, as Bob shook hands with our senior U.S. senator in what should have been nothing but a gracious business setting, Reid said: “I hope you go out of business.”

Later, in his public speech, Reid said he wanted to let everyone know that he wants the Review-Journal to continue selling advertising because the Las Vegas Sun is delivered inside the Review-Journal.

    Such behavior cannot go unchallenged.

You could call Reid’s remark ugly and be right. It certainly was boorish. Asinine? That goes without saying.

But to fully capture the magnitude of Reid’s remark (and to stop him from doing the same thing to others) it must be called what it was — a full-on threat perpetrated by a bully who has forgotten that he was elected to office to protect Nevadans, not sound like he’s shaking them down.

No citizen should expect this kind of behavior from a U.S. senator. It is certainly not becoming of a man who is the majority leader in the U.S. Senate. And it absolutely is not what anyone would expect from a man who now asks Nevadans to send him back to the Senate for a fifth term.

If he thinks he can push the state’s largest newspaper around by exacting some kind of economic punishment in retaliation for not seeing eye to eye with him on matters of politics, I can only imagine how he pressures businesses and individuals who don’t have the wherewithal of the Review-Journal.

Flap wonders if the voters of Nevada also remember what Dingy Harry Reid said about the Iraq War?

    Reid does not deserve re-election.

Poll Watch: Nevada Senator Harry Reid in Re-Election Jeopardy

harryreidsbrain Poll Watch: Nevada Senator Harry Reid In Re-Election Trouble

    Political Cartoon by Michael Ramirez

Dingy Harry Reid, Democrat Senate Majority Leader is behind to both possible GOP candidates for Nevada United States Senate.

It’s the highest stakes ever for a Nevada election, and former boxer Sen. Harry Reid is on the ropes early. Either Republican Danny Tarkanian or Sue Lowden would knock out Reid in a general election, according to a recent poll of Nevada voters.

The results suggest the Democratic Senate majority leader will have to punch hard and often in order to retain his position as the most accomplished politician in state history, in terms of job status.

Nevadans favored Tarkanian over Reid 49 percent to 38 percent and Lowden over Reid 45 percent to 40 percent, according to the poll.

Reid’s status makes him an icon of the Democratic Party and ties him to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and President Barack Obama, both of whom are losing ground among centrist and right-leaning voters in the country.

The economy in Las Vegas sucks and the Nevada unemployment rate is higher than California’s. Nevada voters are looking for a change – and it is NOT Harry Reid.

Looks like the GOP will try to do the same to Dingy Harry as they did to Tom Daschle.

The quicker for Nevada, the better. Then, the GOP can replace John Ensign in 2012.

Day By Day by Chris Muir August 14, 2009 – Answer the Call

Day By Day by Chris Muir

President Obama and Congressional Democrats who support Obamacare, Chris, have already MISSED the call. The Democrats have massive, filibuster-proof majorities in the U.S. Senate. So, why are they waiting for the minority Republicans on the Senate Finance Committee?

Why are they wasting your time with town hall meetings when the Congressional Leadership have already made up their minds to RAM the socialistic Obamacare through?

    Answer: Political Cover

So, Democrat POLS like Nancy Pelosi (Nazis), Harry Reid (Evil Mongers) and Shelia Jackson Lee (imposter astroturfe fake physicians and ignore via cell phone) will continue their conduct until the White House exerts some damage control.

Obamacare Poll Watch: Support for Congressional Health Care Reform Falls to New Low

I don’t think Obamacare in its current form is going to fly.

Public support for the health care reform plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats has fallen to a new low as just 42% of U.S. voters now favor the plan. That’s down five points from two weeks ago and down eight points from six weeks ago.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that opposition to the plan has increased to 53%, up nine points since late June.

More significantly, 44% of voters strongly oppose the health care reform effort versus 26% who strongly favor it. Intensity has been stronger among opponents of the plan since the debate began.

No matter how much lipstick Obama puts on this turkey, it is still a turkey.

Who will be the first Democrat leader in the Congress to throw Obamacare under the bus?

My money is on Dingy Harry Reid.

Poll Watch: Nevada Senator Harry Reid In Re-Election Trouble

    Political Cartoon by Michael Ramirez

The latest poll from Nevada has Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid losing to Republican Sue Lowden.

Republican Sue Lowden would defeat incumbent Democratic Sen. Harry Reid by 6 percentage points in a head-to-head matchup, according to a poll of likely Nevada voters.

Unfortunately for Reid-bashers, Lowden isn’t running — at least not yet.

On Monday, Lowden supporters, including political strategist Robert Uithoven, disclosed the results of a poll commissioned as part of an effort to persuade the Nevada Republican Party chairwoman to run, especially if Rep. Dean Heller, R-Nev., decides not to challenge Reid.

The poll by Denver-based Vitale & Associates was conducted July 29-30 and showed that 48 percent of respondents favored Lowden to 42 percent for Reid. Ten percent were undecided. The margin of error was plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.

Of the 510 poll respondents, 44 percent identified themselves as Democrats, 38 percent as Republicans, 15 percent as independent or non-partisan, and 3 percent declined to state an affiliation.

The findings reaffirm the notion that Reid is in trouble in his home state, despite expectations that he will raise as much as $25 million to maintain his grip on the seat, said those behind the poll.

“Sue would have plenty of money to win this race,” Uithoven said. “She doesn’t have $25 million, but she wouldn’t need it.”

Pollster Todd Vitale said the most telling numbers might be the ones related to Reid.

In three Reid-related categories — image, approval and whether they would vote to re-elect — respondents gave the senator a thumbs down. Just 39 percent viewed Reid favorably, and 34 percent said they would vote to re-elect him.

“All of those are very, very telling pieces of information,” said Vitale, who has been a pollster for 15 years. “I’ve never seen an incumbent with numbers this bad who hadn’t had some scandal.”

If the national GOP can support Sue Lowden, why not go after Harry Reid?

For an incumbent Senator his poll numbers suck and who knows if the Nevada voters will confuse Reid with scandal plagued GOP Nevada Senator Ensign. Although Dingy Harry Reid has his own financial scandals to refute.

    Stay tuned…..

Dingy Harry Reid in Trouble in Nevada Re-Election Race?

    michaelramireztoon042707

    Political Cartoon by Michael Ramirez

Democrat Senate Majority leader Dingy Harry Reid continues to unimpress in Nevada re-election polls.

Nearly half of Nevadans have had enough of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid as the powerful Democrat heads into his re-election campaign, a new Las Vegas Review-Journal poll finds.

About a third of the state’s voters would re-elect Reid if the 2010 election were held today, according to the poll, but 45 percent say they would definitely vote to replace him. Seventeen percent would consider another candidate.

The findings are echoed by another poll question about Reid’s popularity that finds the four-term incumbent to be a polarizing figure in his home state.

Half of Nevada voters had an unfavorable view of Reid, while 38 percent had a favorable view and 11 percent a neutral opinion.

The statewide poll of 625 Nevadans who vote regularly was conducted by telephone last week by Washington-based Mason-Dixon Polling & Research Inc. for the Review-Journal. It carries a margin of error of 4 percentage points in either direction.

Reid’s approval ratings at home have been subpar for years, particularly since he ascended to Democratic leader in 2004 and to majority leader in 2006.

An unpopular, old Pol with financial ethics problems in a state where the economy has crashed and burned under his watch.

One would think the Nevada GOP could recruit an excellent candidate to run against Reid?

Arlen Specter: But, But, Harry Reid Promised Me Seniority

    Obama Specter

Veteran Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania discusses his conversion to the Democratic Party at the White House with President Barack Obama, left, in Washington, Wednesday, April 29, 2009

Well, Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and your new Democrat Caucus friends screwed you, Arlen.

You will not be able to argue you that by re-electing you in 2010 that the voters of Pennsylvania will be getting a Senator with seniority. At best you will get a vote.

“Senator Reid assured me that I would keep my committee assignments and that I would have the same seniority as if I had been elected as a Democrat in 1980. It was understood that the issue of subcommittee chairmanships would not be decided until after the 2010 election. Some members of the caucus have raised concerns about my seniority, so the caucus will vote on my seniority at the same time subcommittee chairmanships are confirmed after the 2010 election. I am confident my seniority will be maintained under the arrangement I worked out with Senator Reid. I am eager to continue my work with my colleagues on the various committees on which I serve and will continue to be a staunch and effective advocate for Pennsylvania’s and the Nation’s priorities.”

No respect for the traitor and Specter will likely draw a Democrat opponent in a primary election from the NUTROOTS.

    Sucker……

President Obama To Order ALL U.S. Combat Troops Out of Iraq by August 2010

    michaelramireztoon042707

    Political cartoon by Michael Ramirez

So much for deadlines and timetables since the United States won the Iraq War with “The Surge” that both Senate Democrat Majority Leader Harry Reid (above) and Obama opposed.

President Barack Obama plans to order that all U.S. combat troops be withdrawn from Iraq by August 2010, administration officials said Tuesday, ending the war that defined his upstart presidential campaign three months later than he had promised.

Obama’s plan would pull out all combat troops 19 months after his inauguration, although he had promised repeatedly during the 2008 campaign that he would withdraw them 16 months after taking office. That schedule, based on removing roughly one brigade a month, was predicated on commanders determining that it would not endanger U.S. troops left behind or Iraq’s fragile security.

Pledging to end the war in 16 months helped to build enormous grass-roots support for Obama’s White House bid.

The withdrawal plan — an announcement could come as early as this week — calls for leaving a large contingent of troops behind, between 30,000 and 50,000 troops, to advise and train Iraqi security forces and to protect U.S. interests.

Also staying beyond the 19 months would be intelligence and surveillance specialists and their equipment, including unmanned aircraft, according to two administration officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because the plan has not been made public.

The complete withdrawal of American forces will take place by December 2011, the period by which the U.S. agreed with Iraq to remove all troops.

Currently there are 142,000 troops in Iraq and by leaving 30-50,000 troops, there will still be plenty of soldiers there that can take up arms if conditions warrant.

So, who gets the credit for ending the Iraq War?

It should go to President Bush and General Petraeus whose “SURGE” pretty much ended the hostilities.

Marine Maj. Gen. John Kelly, who just left his job overseeing U.S. operations in Anbar Province, said Tuesday that he saw violence drop to an almost “meaningless” level over the past year.

Kelly told reporters Tuesday that in the area that was the home ground of the Sunni insurgency, American combat forces don’t have enough to do and most could have pulled out months ago.

“There is still a security issue there, but in the province I just left the (Iraqi) army and the police are more than handling the remnants of what used to be al-Qaida,” Kelly said. “There’s other parts of Iraq that aren’t going quite as well but all of Iraq is doing pretty well.”

Exit Question: Will President Bush get any credit for ending the war? Or for just starting it? And the 4,200 plus killed and 31,000 injured?
