President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Tuesday challenged the authority of the U.N. Security Council as Iran faces a deadline to halt its uranium enrichment and he called for a televised debate with President Bush on world issues.

The Security Council has given Iran until Thursday to suspend enrichment, a process that can produce either fuel for a reactor or material for weapons.

No surprise and who does Ahmadinejad think he is John Kerry? Iran is simply trying to play the western media again.

In the meantime, France is trying to exert their authority in the matter.

AFP: France ready to talk to Iran to end nuclear crisis

Two days before a UN deadline for Iran to halt uranium enrichment, France offered to renew talks with Tehran to end the stand-off while still insisting it freeze sensitive nuclear work.

“The Iranian authorities say they are open to dialogue and ready to resume discussions,” Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy told a meeting of French ambassadors in Paris.

“Without abandoning the demand to suspend sensitive activities, France is also ready to renew dialogue. But it must be a clear, concrete and responsible dialogue,” he said Tuesday.

Douste-Blazy said he wanted the talks to take place “quickly” but would not be pinned down on a timeframe, while a French diplomat said the offer was for dialogue, not the resumption of full-blown negotiations Tehran is seeking.

France is ready to renew dialogue with Iran on ending the standoff over its nuclear program but will continue to insist that Tehran suspend uranium enrichment, Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy said.

WHO CARES?

The APPEASERS in Paris are irrelevant with regard to Iran’s nuclear program. And who would TRUST the French in any diplomatic effort?

“The U.S. and Britain are the source of many tensions,” Ahmadinejad said at a news conference. “At the Security Council, where they have to protect security, they enjoy the veto right. If anybody confronts them, there is no place to take complaints to.

“This (veto right) is the source of problems of the world. … It is an insult to the dignity, independence, freedom and sovereignty of nations,” he said.

Ahmadinejad rejected any suspension of enrichment, even if U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan asked for it during an upcoming visit to Iran.

“The use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes is the right of the Iranian nation. The Iranian nation has chosen this path. … No one can prevent it,” he said.

BLAH BLAH BLAH

United Nations and P-5-Plus-1 negotiations and diplomatic engagement have been a failure and are WORTHLESS.

The United States has entered a new “IRAN COLD WAR” and will have to go it alone.

Israel is already prepared to go it alone against Iran.

When the “POINT OF NO RETURN” arrives Israel and the United States will have a choice.

No more talks – PREPARE THE MILITARY DETERRENCE AND MISSILE DEFENSE.
