Matt Drudge had the photo links to The Smoking Gun and now the New York Times has the story about Ashley Alexandra Dupre.

Kristen, prostitute described in a federal affidavit as having had a rendezvous with Mr. Spitzer on Feb. 13 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, has spent the last few days in her ninth-floor apartment in the Flatiron district of Manhattan. On Monday, she made a brief appearance in federal court, where a lawyer was appointed to represent her. She is expected to be a witness in the case against four people charged with operating a prostitution ring called the Emperor’s Club V.I.P.

In a series of telephone interviews on Tuesday night, she said she had slept very little over the past week, with all the stress of the case.

“I just don’t want to be thought of as a monster,” the woman said as she told the tiniest tidbits of her story.

Born Ashley Youmans but now known as Ashley Alexandra Dupré, she spoke softly and with good humor as she added with significant understatement: “This has been a very difficult time. It is complicated.”

Ashley or Kristen now complains that she may not be able to pay her rent as a court appointed attorney is ordered by the judge to represent her in the legal proceedings against Spitzer and the Emperor’s Club V.I.P.

Flap’s bet is that someone in the publishing and media world will advance her some money for her story providing she is not convicted of a crime and the court bars or forfeits any profit.

New York Governor Elliot Spitzer’s resignation statement, March 12, 2008

Elliot Spitzer resigned as New York Governor today over a scandal involving money laundering, call-girls and prosititution.

In a startlingly swift fall from grace, Gov. Eliot Spitzer resigned Wednesday after getting caught in a call-girl scandal that made a mockery of his straight-arrow image and left him facing the prospect of criminal charges and perhaps disbarment.

“I cannot allow my private failings to disrupt the people’s work,” Spitzer said, his weary-looking wife, Silda, standing at his side, again, as the corruption-fighting politician once known as Mr. Clean answered for his actions for the second time in three days.

He made the announcement without securing a plea bargain with federal prosecutors, though a law enforcement official said the former governor was still believed to be negotiating one. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the case.

Spitzer will be succeeded on Monday by Lt. Gov. David Paterson, a fellow Democrat who becomes New York’s first black governor and the nation’s first legally blind chief executive.

Well, Spitzer is out and has, as of yet, cut a deal with the feds. Flap’s bet is that the Department of Justice will be in NO hurry to plead this casel with Spitzer.

Spitzer, more than likely, knew more bombs would drop in this scandal (see below) and the further disgrace while in office would do him no good in avoiding federal charges, disbarrment and jail.

So, he quits and clips coupons for the rest of his life – after he pays off the wife in the divorce action.

With the price of gasoline skyrocketing, Americans will have to look for sale prices on even the yucky brussels sprouts. Or maybe some, including New York politicians like Democrat Elliot Spitzer are saving their pennies for high priced pieces of tail.

Inflationary prices and growth inhibiting state tax increase proposals in California. Reminds Flap of the crazy economics of Jimmy Carter, stagflation and gasoline lines.
