France Immigration Watch: France Retreats on Immigrants

France’s Communist Party leader Marie-Georges Buffet, Revolutionary Communist League leader Olivier Besancenot, Green party deputy leader Noel Mamere, and leader of France’s Lutte Ouvriere extreme-left party Arlette Laguiller (L-R) attend a news conference outside a school gym where hundreds of African immigrants camp after they were evicted from France’s largest squat in August in Cachan, south of Paris, September 25, 2006. The families refused temporary lodging in hotels, fuelling a heated debate about the immigration policies of Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy ahead of the 2007 presidential election.

International Herald Tribune: France retreats on immigrants

A fierce standoff between the French authorities and about 300 illegal African immigrants crowded into a suburban school gymnasium outside Paris eased Thursday with a tentative deal for housing and other concessions.

Nicolas Sarkozy, the interior minister and a candidate for president in France’s next election, had accused political groups of exploiting the misery of the immigrants. But it was his office that ultimately backed down and negotiated the accord with anti-racism associations as mediators.

Oh, the French deal with illegal immigration in the manner of the grand socialist state.

Flap supposes Sarko doesn’t remember this:

A fireman tries to put out a burning car set ablaze by rioters in ‘La Reynerie’, a popular neighbourhood of Toulouse, south western France. Amid fears that suburban rioters might be planning to bring violence into the capital over a holiday weekend, French police imposed a short-term ban on public meetings in Paris.

The agreement provides the families with temporary housing, a review of their applications for residency papers and promises not to expel them from France during the examination.

Six men have been on hunger strike for almost 45 days and two are now in a hospital in critical condition.

The other four rested Thursday morning weakly on mattresses in a gymnasium changing room decorated with a poster of them and the words: “Are we going to let them die?”

By late afternoon, Agence France- Presse reported that the strikers had begun to take nourishment because of the accord, which came about only after Sarkozy clashed with political opponents this week over the festering situation in Cachan.

Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin declared Wednesday that, with France known as a land of asylum, the situation was “not acceptable in a country like ours.”

The French retreat again and will suffer the consequences of a permanent Muslim immigrant underclass.

Oh Well

Mark Steyn says the Europeans are GONERS.

But, by the looks of things the United States is not doing so well on their illegal immigration plans either.

Stay tuned…….
