Muhammad Caricature Watch: A Demonstration in Libya Has Left Nine Dead and the Italian Consulate Ablaze
Muslims demonstrate with banners and posters to protest against the publication of drawings of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad in European newspapers, Friday, Feb. 17, 2006 in Klagenfurt, the capital of Austria’s Carinthia province.
ASSociated Press: Consulate burned, deaths reported
Security officials in Libya say Libyans protesting the cartoons set fire to the Italian consulate in Benghazi, in a riot that left eleven people dead or wounded. An Italian consular official says nine protesters were killed and several more wounded, as armed police clashed with a crowd of more than one-thousand demonstrators.
Demonstrations are starting to “SPIN OUT of CONTROL”.
