Muhammad Caricature Watch: Saudi Papers Print Danish Editor’s Apology
Saudi King Abdullah tried to calm the protests Sunday, condemning what he called “the clash of civilizations” and calling on Muslims to spread the idea of peaceful coexistence. “I call … for the next stage in relations between countries to be a stage of real dialogue where each side respects the other side, respects its sanctities, beliefs and identity,” Abdullah said, speaking to a cultural festival in the capital, Riyadh.
ASSociated Press: Saudi Papers Print Danish Editor’s Apology
Saudi newspapers on Sunday ran full-page apologies by the Danish newspaper that first ran cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad that have touched off violent anti-Western protests around the Muslim world.
But Jyllands-Posten’s Web site said the newspaper wasn’t involved in the ads. It said businesses placed the ad on their own initiative, using an apology issued by the newspaper late last month. It did not identify the companies or say if they were Danish.
Boycotts of Danish products throughout the Muslim world have taken a heavy toll on Denmark’s exporters, especially those selling Denmark’s famed dairy products.
The advertisements ran in three of Saudi Arabia’s main newspapers — Al-Jazeera, Al-Riyadh and Al-Youm — as well as the Saudi-owned Asharq Al-Awsat, which is distributed around the Arab world.
The Jyllands-Posten Web site said the text of the ad was identical to the apology in Arabic that it posted on the Web site Jan. 30. In that posting, signed by editor Carsten Juste, the newspaper apologized for offending Muslims, but stood by its decision to print the cartoons Sept. 30.
Flap supposes Saudi Arabi is trying to derail the radical hardline clerics and Mullahs who want to overthrow western civilization.
Good Luck……..

Muhammad Caricature Watch: Weekend Protests in Pakistan “Spinning Out of Control”
Pakistani protesters burn the US flag during a rally called to condemn the publication of cartoons depicting Islam’s Prophet Muhammad, Sunday, Feb 19, 2006 in Karachi, Pakistan.
ASSociated Press: Pakistani Forces Seek to Quell Protests
Pakistani security forces arrested hundreds of Islamic hard-liners, virtually sealed off the capital and used gunfire and tear gas Sunday to quell protests against caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad.
Pakistan had banned protests after riots killed five people in two cities last week.
On Sunday, thousands of police and paramilitary troops manned armored personnel carriers and sandbag bunkers in and around Islamabad to block a planned rally organized by a coalition of hardline Islamic parties that sympathizes with the former Taliban regime in Afghanistan and is fiercely anti-American.
As roadblocks went up around the capital, authorities declared they would arrest anyone joining a gathering of more than five people.
Maulana Fazlur Rahman, an opposition leader who denounced the government ban as unconstitutional, was allowed to stage a small rally with eight other opposition lawmakers and a few supporters. They chanted “God is great!” and “Any friend of America is a traitor.”
Now, Flap understands……..demonstrations organized by hardline Pro-Taliban and thus Pro-Al Qaeda folks.
Flap thought these protests were over the insensitivity towards the Islamic faith or the path toward Islamic idolatry.
NOPE – just ANTI-AMERICAN.
But police fired tear gas and guns to chase off hundreds of stone-throwing protesters who tried to join the rally and then enter an enclave where most foreign embassies are. The three-hour clash left the street littered with rocks and spent tear gas shells. An Associated Press reporter saw two injured police, one bleeding from his head, and several injured protesters.
Interior Minister Aftab Khan Sherpao said police used tear gas, but denied they fired guns. The private Geo TV network said officers fired rubber bullets.
Qazi Hussain Ahmad, a top leader of the hardline Islamic coalition, the Mutahida Majlis-e-Amal (United Action Forum), was confined to his Lahore residence and others were detained or told to stay at home, police said.
“These people could create problems of law and order,” said Chaudhry Shafqaat Ahmed, chief investigator of the Lahore police.
Law and order is what Pakistan needs.
An angry Pakistani mob throw rocks at the burning St. Saviour’s church in Sukkar, 560 kilometers (348 miles) northeast of Karachi, Pakistan, Sunday, Feb 19, 2006.About 400 people attacked the church in Sukkur, a city in southern Sindh province, after accusations that a local Christian man had burned pages from the Quran, said Akbar Arian, chief of police in the area. The incident came amid angry protests across Pakistan over cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad published in Western newspapers.
Hundreds of Muslims burned a church in the southern city of Sukkur. No worshippers were inside at the time, but one person was hurt afterward when police fired tear gas.
Local police chief Akbar Arian said the riot was not sparked by the cartoons but by allegations that a local Christian had burned pages of Islam’s holy book, the Quran — another sign of the heightened sectarian tensions in this overwhelmingly Muslim nation.
All of these protesters are “THUGS” and Pakistan’s government has an obligation to maintain order.
Excuses for violence are JUST excuses.
Stay tuned……..

Muhammad Caricature Watch: Muslims Protesting Muhammad Caricatures Storm United States Embassy in Indonesia
Pakistani police detain a protester during a clash in Islamabad, Pakistan, Sunday, Feb 19, 2006. Pakistani police raided offices and homes of dozens of radical Islamic leaders, putting several under house arrest and detaining hundreds of their associates in a bid to foil a rally in the capital to protest cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad, officials said.
ASSociated Press: Muslims Assault U.S. Embassy in Indonesia
Hundreds of Muslims protesting caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad tried to storm the U.S. Embassy on Sunday, smashing the windows of a guard post but failing to push through the gates. Several people were injured.
Meanwhile around the world there were additional protests……
A Pakistani protester shouts slogans during a protest in Peshawar, February 18, 2006. Pakistan banned demonstrations in the capital Islamabad on Saturday as protests over cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad grew and four people were wounded when shots were fired during a rally in central town.
Supporters of Jamat-e-Islami or Party of Islam chant slogans to condemn the publications of cartoons depicting Islamic Prophet Muhammad, Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006 in Islamabad, Pakistan.
In Jakarta, about 400 people marched to the heavily fortified U.S. mission in the center of the city, behind a banner reading “We are ready to attack the enemies of the Prophet.”
Protesters throwing stones and brandishing wooden staves tried to break through the gates. They set fire to U.S. flags and a poster of President Bush and smashed the windows of a guard outpost before dispersing after a few minutes.
The U.S. Embassy called the attacks deplorable, describing them as acts of “thuggery.”
It is organized coordinated politcal terrorism. Indonesia had better protect the American Embassy or else……..
A protest organizer said the West, and particularly the United States, is attacking Islam.
BS……but we American will not be intimidated by these criminals either. This is not merely political protest speech.
“They want to destroy Islam through the issue of terrorism … and all those things are engineered by the United States,” said Maksuni, who only uses one name.
“We are fighting America fiercely this time,” he said. “And we also are fighting Denmark.”Well, Maksuni if the shoe fits………
As Flap has been saying, this has little to do with the Muhammad Caricatures and an affront to Islam. It has everything to do with Islamic political theocracy desiring political control over the West.
If they want a war……..well, we have been waging one since 9/11…….
Stay tuned……..

Muhammad Caricature Watch: London Protest of Muhammad Caricatures Draws 15,000
Thousands gather at Trafalgar Square to protest Muhammad cartoons.
ASSociated Press: 15,000 people protest cartoons in UK
More than 15,000 people joined an angry but peaceful protest in central London on Saturday against the Prophet Muhammad cartoons that have infuriated many in the Muslim world.
Buses brought participants from cities around Britain to gather in Trafalgar Square, and they later marched through central London to Hyde Park, from where the crowd began dispersing late in the afternoon.
“Free speech cheap insults,” read some placards. “How dare you insult the blessed Prophet Muhammad?” asked another.
Speakers shouted from the podium and the crowd yelled back as the demonstration grew increasingly angry. Police said about 15,000 people were present, and there were no reports of violence or arrests. Organizers estimated 40,000 people marched.
An orchestrated coordinated event in London. But, who is coordinating these protests across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia?
“Every Muslim understands this basic concept of the centrality in importance of Muhammad to their lives,” said Taji Mustafa, a spokesman for the Muslim Action Committee, which organized the event. “So when he is demonized, the young and old are deeply affected. As long as the abuse is ongoing we will continue to rise up in protest.”
Mustafa said Muslims’ anger had been fueled by several European newspapers’ decisions to reprint the cartoon, which first appeared in a Danish paper in September, and recently by an Italian Cabinet minister’s decision to wear a T-shirt showing the cartoons.
A demonstrator protests against the publication of caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad, in Trafalgar Square, London Saturday Feb. 18, 2006. More than 10,000 people joined an angry central London protest Saturday against the Prophet Muhammad cartoons that have infuriated many in the Muslim world.
Quotes from the gaggle of protesters:
“What happened should not have happened,” said Younas Yousas, 33, a protester from east London.
“Their freedom of speech should be restricted because it hurts our religion. At the end of the day everyone needs to respect others’ religions. And we should strive for peace.”
“Europe lacks respect for others,” and “Don’t they teach manners in Denmark?”
Two weeks ago, protesters in London carried signs with extremist slogans including “Europe, you will pay. Your 9/11 is on its way,” and “Behead the one who insults the prophet.”
How do you spell OXYMORON?
This is religious fervor or the craven desire for political/cultural CONTROL.
Flap votes for the latter.
Stay tuned…….

Muhammad Caricature Watch: Nigerian Muslims Protesting Muhammad Caricatures Attack Christians and Burn Churches
A veiled woman supporter of a Pakistani religious party Jamaat-e-Islami raises the holy Quran at a rally to condemn the publication of cartoons of Islamic Prophet Muhammad, in Karachi, Pakistan, Saturday, Feb 18, 2006. Thousands of Pakistani women staged a peaceful rally in the southern city of Karachi to protest the cartoons of Prophet Muhammad and called for those who drew them to be hanged, police said.
Los Angeles Times: Cartoon Protests Leave 15 Dead in Nigeria
Nigerian Muslims protesting caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad attacked Christians and burned churches on Saturday in violence that left at least 15 people dead, police and a resident said.
Troops and police reinforcements have been deployed to restore order in the northeastern city of Maiduguri, where 15 Christian churches were burned, said Nigerian police spokesman Haz Iwendi.
Chima Ezeoke, a Maiduguri resident, said the protesters attacked and looted shops in the city owned by minority Christians, most of them with origins in the country’s south.
“Most of the dead were Christians beaten to death on the streets by the rioters,” Ezeoke said.
Wanton criminal activity including murder in the name of Muhammad? This sounds to Flap to be an “excuse” for criminal behavior.
Women supporters of a Pakistani religious party Jamaat-e-Islami, raise placards reading ‘Muhammad’ as they take part in a rally to condemn the publication of cartoons of Islamic Prophet Muhammad, in Karachi, Pakistan, Saturday, Feb 18, 2006.
Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country of more than 130 million people, is roughly divided between a predominantly Muslim north and a mainly Christian south.
The Nigerian government MUST protect their own people.
These Muhammad caricature protests continue to spin out of control.

Muhammad Caricature Watch: Reforms Minister Roberto Calderoli Wears Muhammad Caricature T-Shirt – Italian Embassy Burned
This image made from television shows scorch marks around a doorway at the Italian consulate, in Benghazi, Libya, Friday, Feb. 17, 2006. Libyans protesting the Prophet Muhammad cartoons set fire to the Italian consulate in Benghazi on Friday and clashed with police in turmoil that left at least nine people dead, an Italian diplomat said.
ASSociated Press: Libya Suspends Official After Deadly Riots
Libya suspended its interior minister Saturday, citing an “excessive use of force” in riots the day before that left at least 10 people dead in the bloodiest protest yet against the Prophet Muhammad cartoons roiling the Muslim world.
The controversy claimed another political casualty in Italy as Reforms Minister Roberto Calderoli offered his resignation after wearing a T-shirt featuring the drawings, a provocative move blamed for Friday’s protests at the Italian consulate in the Libyan city of Benghazi, in which at least 10 people were killed.
And, so, Libya is suspending the official who helped restore law and order after rioters attempted to burn a foreign embassy?
MORONIC…….
This image made from television shows a police officer in front of a burning vehicle near the Italian consulate, in Benghazi, Libya, Friday, Feb. 17, 2006. Libyans protesting the Prophet Muhammad cartoons set fire to the Italian consulate in Benghazi on Friday and clashed with police in turmoil that left at least nine people dead, an Italian diplomat said.
More on the suspension:Libya’s parliamentary secretariat announced the suspension of Interior Minister Nasr al-Mabrouk and said all those involved in Friday’s riots “and the officials responsible for them” should be referred to investigations and to the courts.
“We condemn the excessive use of force and the inappropriate way that went beyond the limits of carrying out the duties of the police,” the secretariat said in a statement.
It also declared Sunday a day of mourning for “our martyr sons.”
Martyrs?
You mean the dumbass demonstrators that attempted to torch the Italian embassy and who rioted over an Italian politican wearing a Muhammad Caricature T-shirt?
Really – how deadly ridiculous can you be?
How do you spell FANATICAL MORON?
More on the Muhammad Caricature T-Shirt FLAP:
The riot appeared to be a reaction to Calderoli’s decision to wear a T-shirt printed with the cartoons. His declaration that he would do so was widely published in Libya.
Calderoli, a member of the anti-immigrant Northern League Party, wore the T-shirt beneath a suit on Friday and showed it off during an appearance on television. Hours later, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi asked for his resignation.
Calderoli said Saturday he had agreed to offer his resignation to stop “the shameful exploitation which in these hours has been directed against me,” the Italian news agency ANSA reported.
There was no demonstration outside the Italian Embassy in Tripoli, a possible indication of greater state control in the capital. Politics is tightly controlled in Libya — a former Italian colony — and open dissent is rare.
This is unbelievable and orchestrated.
Libya and Pakistan need to “crack down” on the Mullah’s who are instigating and ordering people to die.
World events spinning out of control because of cartoons…….

Muslims demonstrate with banners and posters to protest against the publication of drawings of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad in European newspapers, Friday, Feb. 17, 2006 in Klagenfurt, the capital of Austria’s Carinthia province.
ASSociated Press: Consulate burned, deaths reported

A Pakistani police officer arrest a protester who is condeming the publication of cartoons of Islamic Prophet Muhammad, in Karachi, Pakistan, Friday, Feb 17, 2006. A Pakistani cleric on Friday announced a US$1 million bounty for killing a cartoonist who drew Prophet Muhammad, as thousands joined street rallies across the country and authorities arrested scores of protesters.
Associated Press: Cleric: $1 Million to Kill Cartoonist
A Pakistani cleric announced Friday a $1 million bounty for killing a cartoonist who drew Prophet Muhammad, as thousands joined street protests and Denmark temporarily closed its embassy and advised its citizens to leave the country.
Police confined the former leader of an Islamic militant group to his home to prevent him from addressing supporters over the cartoons, amid fears he could incite violence, after riots this week killed five people.
Security forces were out in strength, particularly around government offices and Western businesses, as Muslims streamed onto the streets after Friday prayers. More than 200 people were detained, but most gatherings were peaceful.
In neighboring India, police used batons and tear gas to disperse thousands of angry worshippers who rioted in the southern city of Hyderabad. They burned Danish flags, pelted police with stones, and looted shops. Hundreds more protested in Bangladesh.
The stakes rise for the Muhammad Caricatures. What Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said last week is coming to fruition…… the situation is “spinning out of control”.
In the northwestern Pakistan city of Peshawar, prayer leader Mohammed Yousaf Qureshi announced the bounty for killing a cartoonist to about 1,000 people outside the Mohabat Khan mosque.
Qureshi said the mosque and his religious school would give $25,000 and a car, while a local jewelers’ association would give another $1 million. No representative of the association was available to confirm it had made the offer.
“This is a unanimous decision by all imams (prayer leaders) of Islam that whoever insults the prophet deserves to be killed and whoever will take this insulting man to his end, will get this prize,” Qureshi said.
Qureshi did not name any cartoonist in his announcement. He did not appear aware that 12 different people had drawn the pictures.
Does this mean $ 12 million total?
Doubtful……..
Denmark announced it had temporarily closed its embassy in Pakistan. It also advised against all travel to Pakistan and urged Danes still in the country to leave.
“We have decided to do so because of the general security situation in the country,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Lars Thuesen said.
Denmark has already temporarily closed its embassies in Lebanon, Syria, Iran and Indonesia after anti-Danish protests and threats against staff.
Pakistan, meanwhile, recalled its ambassador to Denmark for “consultations” about the cartoons, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam said.
And the diplomatic wars are “spinning out of contrtol” as well……
Stay tuned…….

Muhammad Caricature Watch: Pakistani Cleric Offers Money and Car for Anyone who kills the Danish Cartoonist Who Drew Prophet Muhammad
Paramilitary forces guard a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in Lahore, Pakistan, as demonstrations over cartoons depicting the prophet Muhammad continue to fan anti-Western sentiment.
CBS/AP: Cleric Offers Money To Kill Cartoonist
A Pakistani cleric offered a 1.5 million rupee reward and a car for anyone who kills the Danish cartoonist who drew Prophet Muhammad, while another Islamist leader was put under house detention, amid fears of more deadly demonstrations Friday, officials said.
Protests sparked by the Muhammad caricature continue in numerous cities around the globe. In Pakistan, thousands of security forces have been deployed to prevent unrest.
Police have arrested 125 protesters for violating a ban on rallies in eastern Pakistan and arrested 30 others after firing tear gas to disperse a protest in the southern city of Karachi.
More unrest in Pakistan and Bill Clinton is in town to see President Gen. Pervez Musharraf.
Mohammed Yousaf Qureshi, prayer leader at the historic Mohabat Khan mosque in the northwestern city of Peshawar, announced at the mosque and the Jamia Ashrafia religious school that he leads would give a 1.5 million rupee reward and a car for killing the cartoonist of the Prophet pictures that appeared first in a Danish newspaper in September.
Police were ordered to restrict the movement of all religious leaders who might address any rallies and round up religious activists “who could be any threat to law and order,” a senior police official said in the main eastern city of Lahore.
Now, are these restrictions without a court order or a warrant……..?
Imagine if the FBI attempted to restrict the movements of Jesse Jackson or Joseph Lowery……
In Islamabad, there were about 7,000 protesters Friday, while about 5,000 others took to the streets chanting slogans in the city of Quetta.
In Multan, about 300 police swooped down on 125 protesters who had gathered Friday morning at a traffic circle, chanting, “We are slaves of the prophet,” and trampling on a Danish flag, said Sharif Zafar, a police official.
Protesters shouted “Death to Musharraf” as they were bundled into two police buses, referring to Pakistan’s leader, President Gen. Pervez Musharraf, who the Bush administration has called a strong ally in the war on terror.
So, the protests continue, Musharraf cracks down on the unrestand Mullahs and former President Clinton shows up to buttress Musharraf. Both know that the protest have nothing to do with the Muhammad Caricatures but everything to do with the desire of Pakistani Mullahs to take control of the Pakistani government.
Former U.S. President Bill Clinton, left, meets with Pakistan’s President Gen. Pervez Musharraf at President House in Islamabad, Pakistan, Friday, Feb. 17, 2006. Clinton criticized cartoons of Islamic Prophet Muhammad, but he said Muslims wasted the opportunity to build better ties with the west by holding violent protests against the drawings.
The crackdown follows violent protests in Pakistan this week in which five people died and Western businesses were vandalized and burned. Thousands of security forces were deployed Friday in major cities, also including Rawalpindi, Quetta and Peshawar, in anticipation of more rallies.
Clerics at mosques across the country condemned the cartoons.
“Oh God, please punish those who dared to publish these sacrilegious cartoons … Give enough power to the Muslim countries and enable them to take revenge,” said Qari Saeed Ullah, a prayer leader in Islamabad.
