Washington, DC. – California Congressman Devin Nunes (R-CA) announced his support for Mayor Rudy Giuliani to be the next President of the United States today.
“The next President of the United States needs to be a proven leader. Someone we can entrust with the responsibility to lead our nation against extremists who are relentless. Mayor Giuliani has the experience we need during these difficult times and he has the confidence of the American people. I trust him to do what’s right, and not just what is politically expedient. Mayor Giuliani also understands what it takes to keep an economy growing. He is credited with the revitalization of the City of New York and understands what it takes to promote the prosperity of our nation,†said Nunes.

Senator Tim Johnson Watch: Condition Improves
ABC: Sen. Tim Johnson’s Condition Improves
“Senator Johnson is actively making decisions about his healthcare and expressing his opinions about his daily activities,” said Dr. Philip Marion, medical director for the Department of Rehabilitative Medicine at George Washington University Hospital.
“He continues to initiate more conversations and questions. His therapy now includes computer exercises and problem-solving activities,” said Marion.
Sen. Johnson’s wife, Barbara Johnson said, “Our family continues to be impressed with Tim’s progress . . . even though there is a long road ahead to complete recovery, we feel that we have gotten ‘our Tim’ back,” she said.
The Senator’s office said Sen. Johnson has been reading the newspaper and following news, especially news from South Dakota, and has requested more updates from his staff.
Good news for the Senator and his family.
But, the question is: will the Senator want to come back to active and very stressful political life?
Flap knows what his decision would be………

Giuliani Notes: Rudy Interests California GOP Conventioneers
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (C) speaks at a news conference as he is joined by California’s Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (L) and Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca (R) in Santa Monica, California, August 17, 2006, urging California voters to support Proposition 83, Jessica’s Law on the November 2006 ballot. Proposition 83 calls for electronically monitoring sex offenders for life via a GPS system as well as allowing prosecutors to charge criminals who posses child pornography with a felony. The Reporter – Vacaville, California: Giuliani interests GOP state conventioneers
When Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani speak at the California Republican Convention this weekend, some party leaders from Solano County will be there and listening carefully.
Approximately 1,300 delegates from across the state are expected to fill the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Sacramento beginning today through Sunday. Among them will be Mike Gomez, the chair of the Solano County Republican Party Central Committee, and Lynda Rose McMahan, chair of Solano Republican Women’s Federated.
Gomez said he is also looking forward to the lunch with Giuliani on Saturday. He wants to hear the celebrated mayor’s views on national security and the kinds of programs and policies he would implement as president.
While she is unable to attend, Cathy Ritch, the second vice chair of the Solano Republican Central Committee, said “I think it is going to be an important meeting.”
“I’m anxious to hear him speak,” Gomez said. “At this point in time, he’s the one who holds the most interest for me.”
Ritch said about Giuliani, “He’d be my favorite candidate if you asked me right now.”
In a blogging note, Flap will be traveling to Sacramento tomorrow morning and will live blog Mayor Giuliani’s speech at noon on Saturday.
Flap may also have a few surprises…….
Stay tuned……

Rudy Giuliani Watch: Rudy vs. Hillary in 2008?
Peggy Noonan WSJ: New York, New York
But it is significant that in Mrs. Clinton’s case, for the past 30 years, from 1978 through 2007–which is to say throughout most, almost all, of her adulthood–her view of America, and of American life, came through the tinted window of a limousine. (Now the view is, mostly, through the tinted window of an SUV.)
From first lady of Arkansas through first lady of the United States to U.S. senator, her life has been eased and cosseted by staff–by aides, drivers, cooks, Secret Service, etc. Her life has been lived within a motorcade. And so she didn’t have to worry about crime, the cost of things, the culture. Status incubates. Rudy Giuliani was fighting a deterioration she didn’t have to face. That’s a big difference. It’s the difference between the New Yorker in the subway and the Wall Street titan in the town car.
Indeed……..

President 2008 Watch: California Conservatives Move to Thwart Early California Presidential Primary – The Response Part 3
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and GOP Assemblyman Chuck DeVore
FlashReport: CRP Spends Money AGAINST CRP Members
The CRP maynot have a bounty program, they may be in $4.6 million of debt, but they have a little cash and staff time to turn on it’s own members.
Assemblyman Chuck DeVore has a proposal to change the way delegates are selected.
Today a letter arrived from Duf Sundheim, Ron Nehring and Tim Morgan opposing the change. Who paid for this mailing??? No doubt the CRP. As well an offical email and press release from CRP staff attacked the proposal.
Put a fork into Chuck Devore’s proposal – IT’S DONE!
It makes NO difference who paid for the mailing. The Chairman and soon to be Chairman of the California Republican Party OPPOSE this proposal to place GOP delegate selection back into “smoke-filled” rooms and out of the voters reach.
The Devore proposal is precipitous and WRONG.
It deserves DEFEAT.
