John McCain Watch: Booed in Memphis While Admitting MLK Holiday MistakePosted by Flap in John McCain, President 2008Senator and presumptive GOP Presidential nominee John McCain was booed today in Memphis, Tennessee while explaining his opposition to a federal holiday for Martin Luther King was a mistake.
Outreach on the anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination is one thing but apologizing is quite another. Flap is still not convinced that a federal holiday is necessary but whatever. It was the Republican Party and Abraham Lincoln who ended slavery in this country. And, wasn’t it the Southern Democrats for years that blocked civil rights for blacks in the South? Today is symbolism over substance and McCain has bought into it – hook line and sinker. And, will it win him any more votes? Doubtful……….

No Mitt Romney for Vice President Campaign BeginsPosted by Flap in John McCain, Mitt Romney, President 2008An open letter (newspaper ad) to presumed GOP Presidential nominee John McCain by social conservative movement folks is being circulated to stop Mitt Romney to be named McCain’s Vice President.
John McCain should NOT select Mitt Romney as Vice President. Romney is a self-serving political opportunist who has consistently flip-flopped on issues important to conservatives. So, is this organized effort to stop Romney a plea to select Mike Huckabee as Vice President? Probably But, Huckabee would be another disaster. John McCain has a full field of GOP Governors from which to choose, including Tim Pawlenty from Minnesota and Mark Sanford from South Carolina. Another choice who is being mentioned is former Ohio Congressman Rob Portman. The new media has made the Iraq War more transparent and MSM war correspondents and news services accountable.
