Iraq War Watch: THE NOBLE CAUSE

Akef Tayem

From CNN:

A few miles away in a field beside the main road leading to Bush’s ranch, a lone Bush supporter set up camp Thursday with a tent and signs reading: “A Noble Cause.” The signs showed pictures of smiling Iraqi children.

Akef Tayem, who participated in pro-Bush rallies in Crawford this summer, said he returned because he felt Bush was under pressure to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq. But Tayem said that would be a mistake because Iraqis want democracy and appreciate what the U.S. is doing, especially the ousting of Saddam Hussein.

“Perhaps the troops, they feel like they don’t get gratitude or a thank you, and I’ll come and say ‘Thank you’ in my own way because it’s Thanksgiving,” said Tayem, who lives in Dallas and has relatives in Jordan.

Michelle Malkin has the story and the RIGHT perspective.

Meanwhile, here’s what the “Iraqi resistance,” so adored by the anti-war Left, was up to yesterday:

A suicide bomber blew up his car outside a hospital south of Baghdad on Thursday while U.S. troops handed out candy and food to children, killing 30 people and wounding about 40, including four Americans.

(More from Spc. Phil Van Treuren and Major K. on slanted media coverage of the incident.)

And don’t forget this searing reminder of what separates the noble from the savage from embedded blogger Michael Yon.

Cindy Sheehan is a “FREAK” and Flap is done with HER now. She has nothing to add to the political discourse of the day. If she does not like the Iraq War policy she has other avenues to voice her opinions without being a pain in the ass MORON.

Of course, FREAKS like her are noteworthy to the MSM ratings but she and her ILK are just PATHETIC and need to LET GO.

Cindy needs to go home and get a REAL DAY JOB.

Thanks for presenting ‘the other side’ of the Sheehan protest. When I was there in August, sitting on the other side of the road from the Sheehanits, the response from news reporters (in particular, CNN) to our query “Don’t you want our side?” was an abrupt, “Not interested!”
Akef is a wonderful human and a new friend for life who I met in Crawford. He’s as genuine as they come, as are the many Gold Star families I would later meet.
Cindy neither braved the intense heat for any longer than required for interviews, nor showed the slightest civility to those opposed to her ‘mission’, such as an Iraqi lady named May Hasan who came to thank her for her son’s sacrifice, tell her how much it meant to Iraqis, and ask her to end her protest because of all the good being done by our presence in Iraq. Cindy’s response: I don’t mind my son fighting for Americans, but I don’t want him fighting for Iraqis. Typical leftist narcissism.
    Thanks again, Debi Bohannan
