Talk about a culture of corruption.Hassan Nemazee, chairman of Nemazee Capital Corp. and a fundraiser for President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, was arrested on charges he used phony documents to trick Citigroup Inc. into lending him as much as $74 million.
Nemazee got the loan by telling Citibank he held accounts with hundreds of millions of dollars that could serve as collateral, U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said today in a statement. The financier used fake addresses and phone numbers controlled by him to mislead the bank, prosecutors said.
The accounts “either never existed or had been closed years before Nemazee submitted the documents referencing those accounts,†Bharara said in the statement.
Nemazee, 59, repaid the loan to Citibank yesterday, a day after he was interviewed by Federal Bureau of Investigation agents, prosecutors said. The interview took place at Newark Liberty International Airport as Nemazee was checking in for a flight to Rome.
Another favorite fundraiser of the Clinton’s, Norman Hsu is in prison on a California conviction and awaits sentencing on his federal campaign finance fraud conviction. In the 2008 presidential campaign, Nemazee raised at least $100,000 for Clinton, and then went on to bring in at least $500,000 for Obama after he defeated her in the primary campaign, according to the Washington watchdog group Public Citizen. Clinton is now secretary of state.

Norman Hsu, mega-Democratic Party and Hillary Clinton fundraiser has been convicted of violating federal campaign finance laws.Disgraced Democratic donor Norman Hsu was convicted this morning of illegally funneling hundreds of thousands of dollars to top-tier political candidates including then-Sen. Hillary Clinton and now-President Obama.
A Manhattan federal court jury pronounced Hsu guilty on all four counts against him after less than three hours of deliberations over two days.
Hsu, 58, did not react to the verdict.
“I think he expected it because it was quick,” defense lawyer Alan Seidler said.
Seidler said the conviction was unlikely to add to the 30-year prison term Hsu faces after pleading guilty two weeks ago to running a massive $20 million Ponzi scheme.
Talk about a “CULTURE OF CORRUPTION.”
But, the Democratic POLS return the money and move on……..

Former Democratic Party Fundraiser Norman Hsu Pleads Guilty in Federal Fraud Case
Norman Hsu, 56, is escorted into a Redwood City, Calif., courtorom, Friday, Sept. 21, 2007. Hsu on Tuesday was charged with fraud and campaign finance violations in a case that prompted Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton to return hundreds of thousands of dollars in contribution
Norman Hsu pled guilty today to ten seperate federal fraud charges.Hsu, 58, entered his plea today in Manhattan federal court. In 1991, he pleaded no contest in California and was convicted of grand theft for stealing $1 million from investors in a scheme to buy and resell latex gloves. He failed to appear for sentencing and spent 15 years as a fugitive. He was re-arrested in 2007 and sentenced to prison by a California judge.
In the intervening years, Hsu raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Democratic candidates and party committees, including then-U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton, the Democrat from New York and former presidential candidate who is now U.S. secretary of state, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, a Washington-based research group.
Hillary Clinton and the numerous other Democratic POLS got offf easy in the Hsu case by simply refunding the money. However, the scrutiny of Democrat political donors has been enhanced and the media is no longer content with sitting back and not following the money.
