Iraq War Watch: Bill Clinton Says Iraq Invasion “BIG MISTAKE”

Former U.S. President Bill Clinton, acknowledges the students of the American University Dubai, during his visit to mark the 10 anniversary celebration of AUD, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005.

The ASSociated Press has Clinton says Iraq invasion was a big mistake

The United States made a “big mistake” when it invaded Iraq, former President Bill Clinton said Wednesday, citing the lack of planning for what would happen after dictator Saddam Hussein was overthrown.

“Saddam is gone. It’s a good thing, but I don’t agree with what was done, ” Clinton told students at the American University of Dubai.

“It was a big mistake. The American government made several errors … one of which is how easy it would be to get rid of Saddam and how hard it would be to unite the country.”

Clinton did however say that the United States had done some good things in Iraq: the removal of Saddam, the ratification of a new constitution, and the holding of parliamentary elections.

Clinton’s statements and the resolution yesterday in the United States Senate is the continuing breakage of America’s political will for the Iraq War.

Clinton continues:

“The mistake that they made is that when they kicked out Saddam, they decided to dismantle the whole authority structure of Iraq. … We never sent enough troops and didn’t have enough troops to control or seal the borders,” Clinton said.

As the borders were unsealed, “the terrorists came in,” he said.

Clinton said it would have been better if the United States had left Iraq’s “fundamental military and social and police structure intact.”

“Monday Morning Quarterbacking” by Clinton.

And Hillary is a United States Senator where is her critique?

The President will repond……

Stay tuned………..

  • A Christian Prophet

Judging from the Holy Spirit’s message on The Christian Prophet blog today, the mistake was not in invading, but in not planning for maintaining the peace afterward. Clinton may not understand exactly how he is right.

Monday Morning Quarterbacking…. I think the author forgets that Clinton had 8 years of the presidency under his belt and lead a succesful campaign in Kosovo.

  • Flap

And Clinton failed in Somalia, failed to retaliate for the USS Cole attack and was impeached for perjury.

By the way, why were we in the Bosnian Civil War?

But, I’l let the President defend his own policy in Iraq.

And ……where is Senator Clinton in this criticism?
