CLINTON, RUDY ROMP IN POLLS

Rudy Giuliani and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton both hold double-digit leads in at least a quarter of the “Super Duper Tuesday” states that will hold primaries on Feb. 5 and help determine each party’s nominee, an analysis of recent polls shows.

Both are leading their closest rivals by more than 10 points in some of the biggest delegate-rich states that could play a role in the revamped primary schedule – California, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and their home state, New York.

The new primary schedule could help candidates who don’t fare well in the early-voting states like Iowa and New Hampshire. It could also let a single candidate gobble up so many delegates that it would be very difficult for anyone else to catch up, with roughly 20 states set to vote that day.

In an obvious campaign strategy, Rudy has been campaigning the most and “being seen” in the Super Duper Tuesday states.

How well is he doing?

California – Rudy leads McCain by 14 %. California has 173 GOP delegates.

Florida – Rudy leads by 15% and Florida may move its primary election to late January 2005.

New York – Rudy leads by 20% in his home state.

New Jersey – Rudy leads by 39%

Pennsylvania – Rudy leads by 15%

While McCain and romney duke it out in New Hampshire, Iowa and South Carolina – all small delegate states, Giuliani will focus on the later primaries and February 5, 2008.

If the Mayor’s lead continues throughout the summer in these delegate-rich states, the race will be over. At least that is what Hizzoner envisions.
