Michael Ramirez on President Bush and the Senate Illegal Immigration Amesty Bill

Broken RIGHT WING indeed.

President Bush has torn the conservative coalition asunder.

What political conservatives and on-the-ground Republicans must understand at this point is that they are not breaking with the White House on immigration. They are not resisting, fighting and thereby setting down a historical marker–“At this point the break became final.” That’s not what’s happening. What conservatives and Republicans must recognize is that the White House has broken with them. What President Bush is doing, and has been doing for some time, is sundering a great political coalition. This is sad, and it holds implications not only for one political party but for the American future.

The Senate Kennedy-Kyl Immigration Bill which will be taken up this next week in the United States Senate is dead. The GOP base has spoken.

Put a fork in the bill – it’s done.

President Bush should pull the plug and save the GOP, despite what the WSJ Editorial staff opines.

The solution to this mess is simple: Build the fence, stop the incredibly insane ‘Sanctuary City’ BS, and enforce the law.

  • Flap

But, KB, big business doesn’t want this. They want cheap labor and the Dimrats want voters.

    What can it all mean?

  • Babsy

The dimRATs always want more voters. Big bidness will have to find a way to keep competitive in spite of rising labor costs if it wishes to remain in business. Of course, getting folks off the welfare rolls and into the work force will decrease numbers of welfare recipients while increasing tax revenues. The REAL goal of ‘immigration reform’ should be National Security. We’ll have to wait and see how it all turns out.

  • Flap

Well, KB, it won;t be this Kennedy-Kyl bill in any case.

They should split the issue up and do border security first.

But the Dimrats will never go for that. Ya know how compassionate for the illegal Mexicans they are.
