Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to Resign Today
Attorney General Alberto Gonzales applauds President Bush during a ceremony at the Justice Department in Washington, Monday, Feb. 14, 2005 where Gonzales was sworn in as United States Attorney General. Bush administration officials say Gonzales will announce his resignation Monday, Aug. 27, 2007.

Will the President immediately appoint (recess appointment) a successor?
Update:
Word is that he submitted his resignation letter last Friday and that a likely temporary replacement for Gonzales is Solicitor General Paul Clement, who would take over until a permanent replacement is found.
