Mitt Romney Mormon-Gate Watch: New Hampshire Attorney General in NO Hurry to Investigate

Mitt Romney: Push Poll Charges Are like 9/11 Conspiracy Theories
The New Hampshire Attorney General’s office seems to be in NO HURRY to investigate the Mormon-Gate FLAP.
I just spoke with New Hampshire Assistant General James Kennedy who is in charge of the so-called push poll call investigation. Mr. Kennedy says he “is in the process of identifying” victims and determining whether there has been a violation of NH law. He reiterates that push poll calling is “not in and of itself” a violation of state law but failure to identify the entity who is making the call is a violation. There is no time frame for completion of the investigation and he indicated that “it is not our concern” whether it is completed before the January 8 primary, but only to determine whether NH law has been violated. A violation is punishable by a $1000 fine or by misdemeanor or felony (with up to seven years imprisonment). So far they have spoken to only “a few” NH residents. Subpoenas have not yet been issued to any of the campaigns but Western Wats has been “contacted.”
Wouldn’t it be appropriate for New Hampshire officials to speedily complete an investigation so that New Hampshire voters have “complete” information regarding the conduct of their elections?
Why, of course.
Will the New Hamsphire Attorney General’s office get off their asses and investigate?
Anyone’s guess.
Stay tuned………

Mike Huckabee Targets Iowa Christians – Plays Mormon Card?

Mike Huckabee discusses what he believes in this new ad.
The Iowa television airwaves are heating up with the latest Mike Huckabee ad: “Believe”. This ad targets Iowa Christian GOP voters:
The ad, titled “Believe,†goes up today in the early nominating state. In it, Mr. Huckabee uses his speech at the October Values Voters Summit to spotlight his anti-abortion position and his strength as a Christian leader.
“I don’t have to wake up every day wondering, ‘What do I need to believe?’†he says.
Marc Ambinder suggests that Huckabee is PLAYING THE MORMON CARD:
Is Huckabee playing the Mormon card, even unwittingly? Hard to say. His campaign says absolutely not. And intent matters, of course. But this being a postmodern political world, so does reception: it depends on the extent to which the targets of his television ad are aware that Romney is Mormon and are prone to object to it.
Now, watch the ad again.
Is Ambinder RIGHT?
Dean Barnett over at the Weekly Standard thinks Huckabee is being “SLICK” with the Mormon issue.
What’s most disturbing about this spot is it hits the Mormon angle with the same kind of elusive slickness that John Edwards used to go after Dick Cheney’s daughter. The Huckabee campaign has the same kind of plausible deniability with this ad that Edwards had after his debate with Cheney.
Will Mitt Romney EVER address the MORMON ISSUE?

Rudy Giuliani Watch: Time to UNMASK Romney
Republican presidential hopeful, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani smiles as departs after a breakfast address to a political group in Bedford, N.H.., Monday Nov. 26, 2007.
Rudy Giuliani FINALLY goes on the offensive against Mitt Romney in New Hampshire.
In a big strategic shift, Rudy Giuliani hammered Mitt Romney’s record Sunday on three fronts, saying it was time to “take the mask off and take a look at what kind of governor was he.â€
Using some of the toughest language of his campaign, Giuliani, in an interview with Politico, slammed Romney on health care, crime and taxes. At the same time he portrayed the one-time moderate as a hypocrite on a host of social issues who lives “in a glass house.†It was easily the most sweeping attack Giuliani has delivered against Romney in this campaign.
Rudy is right and there are plenty of issues to draw upon for television and radio ads:
- Massachusetts Superior Court Judge Kathe M. Tuttman appointment
- Flip on Abortion
- Campaign finance reform
- Flip on Gay Marriage
- Lied about hunting
- Scientology book one of his favorites
- Poor Mitt’s Dog
- Jay Garrity Trooper Flap
- The Robert Lichfield FLAP
- None of Mitt’s five adult sons had served in the military
- Health Care 2.0 Flip Flop
- PhoneyFred.org Flap
- Tax FLIP
- Log Cabin Ad Flip
- Lawyer’s Test for National Security
Mitt Romney is ONLY doing well in the polls in states where he has been “on air” with television ads without being contested. He flounders in all of the rest and Rudy is beating him.
Watch the Giuliani campaign to start airing “FLIP-FLOP Mitt ads and other ads highlighting Romney’s oddities and inconsistencies.

Senator Trent Lott to Retire By End of the Year
Senate Minority Whip Trent Lott of Miss., becomes teary-eyed on Capitol Hill in Washington, Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, after speaking to reporters after the Senate confirmed Judge Leslie Southwick to the federal appeals court in Mississippi. Lott, the Senate’s No. 2 Republican, plans to resign his seat before the end of the year.
Senator Trent Lott of Mississippi, re-elected in 2006, will resign by the end of the year. GOP Governor Haley Barbour will appoint his successor until the 2008 election.
No reasons besides the initial BS were given.
Losing the Senate Majority, the top GOP Leadership spot and the bungling of the federal government’s response to Hurricane Katrina were probably sufficient enough to retire. Lott is 66.
Like Allah and MM, Flap will NOT miss Trent.
