President 2008,  Rudy Giuliani

Rudy Blows New Hampshire?

U.S. Republican presidential candidate and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani speaks to supporters during a campaign stop at the American Legion Hall in Salem, New Hampshire, January 4, 2008.

Rudy blows New Hampshire?

Giuliani has done more in New Hampshire than he should have. The state has always been leaning to Mitt Romney and John McCain. They have home field advantage.

John McCain beat President Bush in the 2000 GOP primary and has been campaigning there ever since. Mitt Romney has a New Hampshire vacation home and was the Governor of neighboring Massachusetts.

What makes anyone think that Rudy had a snow balls chance in New Hampshire. He didn’t. He wasted $3 million on paid media and will finish fourth or fifth.  Maybe behind Huckabee and Ron Paul.  Maybe not, but third place none the less.

So, now the New Hampshire KNOW IT ALLS will say that Rudy did not spend enough time there. Rudy could have lived in Manchester or Concord and not finished any higher than third place.

Rudy is a moderate to conservative Republican. His base is in the large more diverse states like Florida, Illinois and California.

End of story.

Another hit piece from Politico.com on Rudy. Rudy has been to New Hampshire some 80 times. You are right, New Hampshire is the home away from home for Romney and McCain. In a campanion piece. Politico.com argues that if Rudy finishes fourth in the state, it will seriously damage his chances.

In the scheme of things, I don’t think it matters where Rudy finishes in New Hampshire, nor where he finished in Iowa.

Rudy just needs to survive until February 5. McCain and Huckabee do not have the money or organization to compete nationally.

Rudy should leave New Hampshire on Sunday night and never look back.

He took a shot at it but he should have folded weeks ago. Move on.
