President 2008,  Rudy Giuliani

Where’s Rudy?

Republican presidential candidate and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani speaks during a campaign rally in Hialeah, Florida January 3, 2008.

Earth to Rudy Giuliani: Why didn’t you blow off Iowa?

You knew it was going to be hard to compete because, Rudy, you are a moderate urban Catholic who does not play well to the rural Evangelical Christian crowd. Your candidacy is a tough sell there no matter what you would have done.

Why bother spending any money or time? You could have blown it off like McCain. And, McCain still polled better and you would not have received the indignity of losing to Ron Paul.

Now, you are off to New Hampshire where the players are Mitt Romney and John McCain. Both are hometown favorites and both have been “on air” for weeks with positive and negative ads. You already have wasted over $3 million in New Hampshire with weak policy ads and now you are hitting your war on terror strength while everyone is talking about Huckabee playing bass guitar on Jay Leno.

Advice (Flaps 2 cents): Pull out of New Hampshire and move to Florida. You are wasting resources and who cares if you place third there (and you may place fourth behind Huckabee or fifth behind Paul).

Let McCain and Romney “duke it out.”

Whoever wins in New Hampshire between Mc Nasty and Mitt-nasty, you will have to beat in Florida to move forward to a February 5 majority delegate win.

So,

  • Concentrate on Florida, Illinois and California.
  • Work your moderate GOP constituencies including minority communities.
  • Use Steve Forbes and George Will more talking about economics.  Use the Hoover Institute.
  • Tank your northeastern accented surrogates on national television.
  • Talk more about your days fighting crime as United States Attorney.

After the debates slip out of the frigid northeast and get down to your “FIREWALL.”

    Flap,

Intersting comments and suggestions. Any thoughts on how Rudy will do in Michigan, Nevada and South Carolina? He may win the Nevada caucus, particulary if Romney is no longer relevant.

It is my hope that he can win at least one primary before Florida.

Rudy will not play in Michigan (where Democrats can cross-over and vote for the GOP candidates – open primary and there is not a contested Democrat race.) This is McCain and Romney territory and may become Romney’s firewall.

South Carolina is Thompson’s firewall and he will “duke it out” with Huckabee and McCain. 40% Evangelical Christian voters comprise the GOP there.

Nevada should be Romney territory but with his loss in Iowa, who knows?

Actually,Rudy has polled well in Nevada, and people tell me that the campaign expects him to win there.

I see that Ed Rollins is trashing all of Huckabee’s opponents, and says that Rudy is through and hwa no money. I have this rumor about Rudy’s money from other pundits. I would be very surprised if it were true. Your thoughts?

Ed Rollins has hurt Huckabee by his comments and Fox News appearance last night. Rollins was steaming.

Remember that the winner will have to reconcile the party in order to win in November. Romney and Huckabee will be hard pressed to do that. There are too many burned bridges between the campaigns.

I suspect Rudy’s finances are sufficient to last until February 5th and certainly better than everyone’s except for Romney who can write his own check.

I would like to see new polls in Nevada since Rudy’s decline in the national polls and the Huckaboom.

Rudy has mo mula than all of the other candidates. he is holding his powder. the huckster is on fumes and the actor’s bus has run out of gas and will not make it to south carolina, mccain is going all in – in new hampshire and mr flip flop is digging in. guiliani needs to look more relevant or his florida strategy will evaporate which would benefit the flip flopper who has the best organization in the state. a strong finish albeit 3rd place in NH will help the mayor and he will be more competitive in michigan that anyone expects and then it gets interesting on the 29th. now, for some very interesting dynamics – if the independents move over to obama and mccain falls to 3rd – he is in unofficially done in – then the rumor is that the very popular governor of florida charlie crist will endorse guiliani and that will pretty much nail the coffin for romney, the huckster and mccain at least in florida and with a win in florida rudy will be well on his way unless he implodes which is certainly possible. gov crist has promised mccain he will not endorse before the NH primary but all bets are off after next week.

I don’t think Rudy will run well in New Hampshire but it doesn’t matter. The race is a mess and will continue unsettled with NO clear front runner until February 5th.

McCain and Huckabee have NO money to run a national campaign. Thompson is gone after South Carolina.

Romney will be all but out after McCain kicks his ass in New Hampshire.

Michigan might be in play for the Mayor except it is an open primary.

Rudy should build a house in Florida and Northern California and work those rooms.
