Rudy Giuliani Watch: Getting Into the Game in Florida

Steve Forbes talks with Larry King about Rudy’s strong support in Florida and the popularity of Giuliani’s plan to enact the largest tax cut in American history.

When Rudy announced his Florida and February 5 Super Duper Tuesday strategy, the pundits panned the plan. Now, after the scramble in the GOP race with no front runner, others are taking a second look.

Giuliani’s star dimmed during the first half of January, not because he committed a gaffe but because he made himself irrelevant. When he becomes relevant at the end of January, both voters and the national media will once again turn to Rudy, and that’s when he’ll have his shot.

With this strategy Is Rudy a MAD GENIUS?

If he wins in Florida, where he’s essentially been living, basking in the warm sunshine and building up his firewall, while his rivals have frozen their asses off in Iowa and New Hampshire, he will be in the catbird seat. Indeed, you could even argue that, despite having won nothing thus far, Giuliani is now the GOP front-runner again, albeit by default. Bizarre? Incomprehensible? Perverse? No doubt. But what better words to describe the man himself and the party he seeks to lead?

Flap compares this strategy to Muhammad Ali’s Rope A Dope against George Foreman.

Ali recovered from the early blows by George Foreman and knocked him out in the 8th round.

Ali DID defeat Foreman.

Rudy CAN do the same to the GOP field.

I think the analogy between Ali and Foreman and Rudy and the GOP is a good one! Rudy has taken SUCH a beating for his strategy that people have all but forgotten his more important message. I think now that other candidates have been placed in the spotlight and receiving their fair share of the heat and we’re finding out every candidate has skeletons in the closet and potential deal breakers, no one is perfect.

I think when Rudy wins Florida the entire nation is gonna do some serious rethinking about their first choice of candidate (he did lead the GOP by double digits for a reason; electability). With only a week before super Tuesday, their is nothing anything the other candidates will be able to do. Good call Flap!
