Rudy Giuliani Watch: The Dress

Rudy Giuliani on Saturday Night Live, March 1, 2008

Rudy is relaxed and in his element back in New York City. And, why did Rudy’s campaign for the Presidency fail?

It wasn’t the dress or the strategy.

If his strategy did not cause him to fail, why did his campaign fail? I still don’t know the answer.

I think the initial buzz of his candidacy was based on name identification and then when McCain imploded in the spring and summer Rudy looked like the candidate to beat.

But, at the You Tube debate with the bogus Politico story the public was reminded about his martial, family and personal difficulties.

If Rudy had fought back and apologized he would have been forgiven and moved forward.

He chose to ignore the festering problem, did not fight in New Hampshire and his campaign cratered.

Pretty good analysis. Regarding New Hampshire, you may recall that Rudy drew even with Romney about a month before the primary, but failed to concentrate on the state at that time.

His failure there, coupled with the Politico hit piece seemed to start his downward spiral. I still think he would make a far superior nominee and presdient than McCain. Have you noticed how old McCain appears? He would be a one term president, if lucky.

Rudy would make a vigorous and credible nominee. I do not know why he gave up and did not answer his personal problems head on.

He should have gone all out in New Hampshire.
