John McCain Watch: Opening Up Fundraising to the Press

John McCain

Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., front row from left, takes a tour of the Florida Everglades on an airboat with his wife Cindy, daughter Meghan, and Florida Gov. Charlie Crist near Miami, Fla., Friday, June 6, 2008

Team McCain has decided to open up their fundraisers to the press.

The campaign expects to include a print pool with no still or video coverage inside fundraisers where McCain appears and makes remarks.

While asserting it has been the most transparent and accessible campaign, McCain said at a news availability May 28th in Beverly Hills that he would not open fundraisers for press coverage because those donors who host and attend have requested the events remain closed. McCain also declared that he does not say anything different among donors in private than he says at public events. At that same May 28th availability, McCain then made a reference to Obama’s controversial fundraiser comment about Pennsylvania voters clinging to guns and faith out of bitterness. McCain asserted that he would not make that kind of comment to his donors.

No red meat for the GOP partisans in a closed environment of a private venue any longer. Oh well…..

Maybe the McCainiacs were too afraid of a MACACA type leak. So, why not open up the process and have another place where to attack or respond to Obama.

Will Team Obama reciprocate?

After comparing the speech given by McCain last week in New Orleans with the speech given by Obama the same night, I can only conclude that McCain must have failed his public speaking class at the Naval Academy.

I realize that Obama is form over substance, but what a contrast between the two candidates when it comes to oratory skills and charisma, as well as age.

This is just one more reason that Rudy would have made a much better candidate than McCain. Rudy is a great speaker. It can make a difference.

Rudy is an excellent speaker and a better leader than McCain ever would be. If he had not screwed up with his personal baggage he would be the nominee.

McCain will beat Obama because he is an empty suit and the Clintons will undermine him at every turn.

    McCain is not an orator.
