  • Denver Roman Catholic Archbishop Charles Chaput labeled Barack Obama the "most committed" abortion-rights candidate from a major party in 35 years while accusing a Catholic Obama ally and other Democratic-friendly Catholic groups of doing a "disservice to the church."

Chaput, one of the nation's most politically outspoken Catholic prelates, delivered the remarks Friday night at a dinner of a Catholic women's group.

His comments were among the sharpest in a debate over abortion and Catholic political responsibility in a campaign in which Catholics represent a key swing vote.

What about Joe Biden who is Catholic? Shoudn't he be denied the Euchurist?

  • Meanwhile, Sarah Palin brings Saturday Night Live its best ratings in 14 years.

She drew 10,000 to an airplane hangar in Roswell, New Mexico. (Insert alien-babe joke here.)

She drew 24,000 to Noblesville, Indiana, and 6,500 to an airplane hangar in Bangor, Maine.

She drew 10,000 to Salem, New Hampshire, the same day that Obama was in the same state in Londonderry and drew a little over 4,000.

No offense to any of the other running mate possibilities, but do you think any other pick by McCain would have drawn 60,000 to The Villages in Florida?

You think it's strictly coincidence that almost 70 million people watched the vice-presidential debate? You think Joe Biden is the reason it outdrew all of the Obama-McCain debates? You think the audiences were just watching to see if she was going to implode?

Sarah Palin is a bright star for Team McCain…..

  • The liberal women I know–and most of the women I seem to know are liberal–loathe Sarah Palin. They don't merely dislike her, the way one tends to dislike politicians whose views are not one's own, they actively detest her. When her name comes up–and it is they who tend to bring it up–their complexions take on a slightly purplish tinge, their eyes cross in rage. "Moron" is their most frequently used noun, though "idiot" comes up a fair number of times; "that woman" is yet another choice. A wide variety of adjectives, differing only slightly in their violence, usually precede these epithets.

Typical LEFT – they loath the RIGHT. Shocker, what?

  • So get this … we found out when Sarah Palin checked into the Omni Berkshire Hotel in NYC for her "Saturday Night Live" performance, she used an alias — first name, Tina (we're not mentioning last name — national security!).
    +++++++
And, online editions of what newspapers?

And there's more. The hotel had some specific instructions on what Her Hotness needed, and it appears to be a preemptive strike against another Couric attack.

Palin asked for and got copies of the Wall Street Journal, NY Times, New York Post, Daily News, and USA Today. No Wash Post — of course they're on Team Obama now.

  • "Mark my words," the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. "It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

"I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate," Biden said to Emerald City supporters, mentioning the Middle East and Russia as possibilities. "And he's gonna need help. And the kind of help he's gonna need is, he's gonna need you – not financially to help him – we're gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right."

  • Speaking to a college audience in Boston, Mass. Friday, "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart used his stand-up routine to respond to Sarah Palin's comments about "pro-America" parts of the country, shedding the profanity restrictions that govern his Comedy Central show.

"She said that small towns, that's the part of the country she really likes going to because that's the pro-America part of the country. You know, I just want to say to her, just very quickly: [expletive] you," Stewart said to raucous applause.

Fairness doctrine will now apply to Comedy Central? It may neuter Stewart, Colbert and Bill Maher on HBO.
    NO?

  • But it’s hard to blame the public for preferring Obama at this stage — given the understandable desire to kick the Republicans out of the White House, and given the failure of the McCain campaign to make its case effectively. And some number of the public may change their minds in the final two weeks of the campaign, and may decide McCain-Palin offers a better kind of change — perhaps enough to give McCain-Palin a victory.

The media elites really hate that idea. Not just because so many of them prefer Obama. But because they like telling us what’s going to happen. They’re always annoyed when the people cross them up. Pundits spent all spring telling Hillary Clinton to give up in her contest against Obama — and the public kept on ignoring them and keeping her hopes alive.

  • SHOULD Barack Obama win the presidency and Democrats take full control of Congress, next year will see a real legislative attempt to bring back the Fairness Doctrine – and to diminish conservatives' influence on broadcast radio, the one medium they dominate.

Yes, the Obama campaign said some months back that the candidate doesn't seek to re-impose this regulation, which, until Ronald Reagan's FCC phased it out in the 1980s, required TV and radio broadcasters to give balanced airtime to opposing viewpoints or face steep fines or even loss of license. But most Democrats – including party elders Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry and Al Gore – strongly support the idea of mandating "fairness."

Broadcast radio will be hit with fairness doctrine rules and the RIGHT will move to Satellite radio and the internet. Sell your tradiotnal radio stock though
