Let L.F. Eason retire and good riddance. Did he make a personal statement?

Gov. Mike Easley had ordered all U.S. and state flags lowered after Helms died July 4. But L.F. Eason III told his staff to ignore the directive at the state Standards Laboratory in Raleigh.

Eason said in e-mails he didn’t think it was appropriate to lower the flags because of Helms’ “doctrine of negativity, hate, and prejudice.” Eason said Helms “voted against or blocked every civil right issue” that came before Congress.

Eason requested the option to retire Monday after his superiors ordered the flags be lowered. Eason said he could not in good conscience honor Helms.

The 51-year-old Eason had worked with the Department of Agriculture for 29 years.

Who cares about another state Department of Agriculture employee taking early retirement? Flap thinks he was looking for an excuse to retire or was just a MORON.

In blogging matters, Flap is starting late today because he played and won a satellite poker tournament this morning and just busted out of the main tournament later.

There are many photos from yesterday’s World Series of Poker that I will post later tonight or tomorrow. I will be heading over to the Amazon Room at the Rio very shortly for today’s action.

NBC news, including the Today Show, Tonight Show, Conan O’Brien, MSNBC anchors and even the local Los Angeles KNBC news are ORGASMIC over the prospect of Obama as President. They gloat over his candidacy and pan McCain at every turn.

Flap guesses when Chris Matthews said Obama gave him a tingle down his leg that he meant from the top down.

On a blogging note, Flap continues to visit Las Vegas today and will head over to the World Series of Poker (WSOP) when action starts in a few hours (this afternoon).

    All Photos by Flap

Flap made it out to Las Vegas around 4: 15 PM today, checked into Harrah’s on the strip, ate at the buffet (naturally) and headed out to the World Series of Poker at the Rio Hotel down the street on Flamingo.

    Las Vegas June 25A 2008 011

    The Rio from afar

But, inside at Event 44, the $50,000 buy-in HORSE tournament Flap said some of poker’s legends. Here are some photos:

    WSOP June 25 2008 019

Huck Seed who won the 1996 WSOP Main Event

Huck was by far the most gracious and accessible of all of the players. He posed with many fans and signed shirts and programs.

    WSOP June 25 2008 020

WSOP bracelet winner and WPT champion Dan Negreanu

One of the most friendly and sincere players Dan Negreanu is always willing to spend time with the WSOP fans. Flap watched him at an ESPN featured table last year during the Main Event. He busted out. But, afterwards, good naturedly signed autographs before he left. Kid Poker has already won an event during the 2008 WSOP ($2,000 Limit Hold’em).

    WSOP June 25 2008 021

In this photo behind Dan Negreanu is Andy Bloch who besides having two electrical engineering degrees from MIT and a law degree from Harvard Law School finished second to Chris Ferguson in the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship. Bloch finished runner-up to Nenad Medic in the $10,000 Pot-Limit Hold’em World Championship at the 2008 World Series of Poker, earning $488,048.

    WSOP June 25 2008 023

2000 WSOP Main event winner and 2008 National Heads-up Champion Chris “Jesus” Ferguson

Chris posed for several fans. Note who is sneaking back into the room on the right. Yep, it is Gus Hansen.

Flap saw many other poker greats entered in this event, including Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth, Mike Matusow, Patrick Antonious and TJ Cloutier. This is a five day event and Flap will try to get more photos tomorrow.

    Stay tuned…..
