President 2008 Watch: Democrats Distance Themselves from Feingold’s Bush Censure FLAP
U.S. Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI) gestures while speaking to journalists on Capitol Hill in Washington March 13, 2006, following effort to censure U.S. President George W. Bush over domestic spying on the floor of the Senate. A censure resolution has been used just once in U.S. history, against Andrew Jackson in 1834.
ASSociated Press: Feingold Draws Little Support for Censure
Democrats distanced themselves Monday from Wisconsin Sen. Russell Feingold’s effort to censure President Bush over domestic spying, preventing a floor vote that could alienate swing voters.
A day of tough, election-year talk between Feingold and Vice President Dick Cheney ended with Senate leaders sending the matter to the Judiciary Committee.
Oh come on Senate Democrats vote on President Bush’s censure. What a bunch of WIMPS!
Perhaps the President didn’t break the law……..and…..you know he didn’t…….
Even members of his own party won’t tolerate Feingold’s partisan political grandstanding……Previous:

Iran Nuclear Watch: United Nations Security Council Divided Over Response to Iran Nuclear FLAP
Members of the United Nations Security Council are seen during a meeting at U.N. headquarters in New York, July 30, 2004. The five veto-holding powers of the U.N. Security Council on Monday struggled to clear the way for a council statement on reining in Iran’s nuclear programs, but agreement appeared elusive.
Reuters: UN Council divided over response to Iran crisis
The United States, Britain and France will seek backing for a tough approach to reining in Iran’s nuclear ambitions from the full U.N. Security Council after inconclusive talks with Russia and China, diplomats said on Monday.
All 15 members of the Security Council will be briefed on Tuesday on a statement the three Western powers want the council to adopt in response to a report on Iran’s programs by the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency delivered last Wednesday.
NO SURPRISE here. China and Russia will NEVER back punitive action against Iran.
Russia and China have been uneasy about Security Council involvement in the Iran crisis during a series of negotiations among the five permanent council veto-holding members, said the diplomats, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
A council statement needs to be approved by all 15 members while a resolution requires nine votes in favor and no veto from any of the permanent members. The West could try to force Russia and China into a veto if the impasse continue.
“Whether it is a statement or a resolution we haven’t decided,” U.S. Ambassador John Bolton told reporters. “We are trying to take this one step at a time.”
John Bolton may be manuvering Russia and China into a VETO to expose them for the FRAUDS that they are on the Iranian nuclear program. But, what does the United States want out of tomorrow’s meeting?
The Western powers would like a statement that would call on Iran to stop all uranium enrichment-related activities and for the IAEA to report back to the Security Council in a short period of time. Britain, diplomats, said, had suggested 14 days but any date is likely to be closer to 30 days.
Flap handicaps that is doubtful that the West obtains a council statement and only a small chance of a resolution. However, the West is capable of their own sanctions outside of the United Nations and that is what the United States, Britain and France will do if the United Nations gives them NO satisfaction.
Stay tuned for tomorrow’s meeting…….

Cindy Sheehan Watch: A NO SHOW in Germany Protest
Peace activist Cindy Sheehan (2nd R) is arrested by police officers after blocking the door to the U.S. Mission offices in New York March 6, 2006.The Mudville Gazette: Blogging the Cindy Sheehanigans
Well the big protest in Germany with Cindy Sheehan was pretty much a bust. The 400 expected to turn out dwindled to approximately 25 – 30. And Cindy was a no-show.
She claims injuries due to Police brutality sustained during her arrest at the UN kept her from attending. However, I suspect it had more to do with restictions on flying to a foreign country while out on bail. (What kind of birds don’t fly? Jailbirds!)
Flap guesses the money wasn’t good enough for her.

Iran Holocaust Cartoon Watch: Iran’s Hamshahri Newspaper Holds Cartoon Contest
ASSociated Press: Iran Paper Holds Holocaust Cartoon Contest
An Iranian newspaper’s contest for Holocaust-related cartoons has drawn entries from 200 people, with some drawings mocking the World War II slaughter: One entry shows Jews going into a gas pipeline.
Most contest entrants are Iranian, but six are Americans, and a few cartoons have been submitted from as far away as Indonesia and Brazil, according to the Hamshahri newspaper. A few of the drawings have been posted online.
Hamshahri began the contest last month as a test of the West’s readiness to print cartoons about the Nazi killing of 6 million Jews in World War II. The contest, which runs through May 15, comes in response to caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad that sparked protests across much of the Muslim world.
One submission reflects the opinion of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who drew international outrage last year when he said the Holocaust was a myth.
The cartoon, by Iranian Firouzeh Mozafari, shows a circle of nine Jewish men entering and leaving a gas chamber that shows a counter reading “5,999,999,” implying that Jews have inflated the number of Holocaust victims.
OK, so Flap has printed some of the cartoons…..
If the reader wants more Holocaust cartoons, the Hamshahri cartoon website is here.
For Flap it is just another day of “FREE” political expression……although I do NOT agree.

Iran Nuclear Watch: Russia – “Iran Still Considering Uranium Enrichment DEAL”
Reuters:Russia says Iran still considering nuclear deal
Iran is still considering a Russian compromise deal aimed at defusing fears Tehran wants an atomic bomb, despite previous comments to the contrary from Iranian officials, Interfax news agency reported on Monday.
Russia has suggested it make nuclear fuel for Iran to ensure uranium is enriched only to the low level needed for power stations. But talks foundered on Iran’s unwillingness to surrender its right to enrich on it own soil.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said on Sunday that Tehran was no longer considering the plan. But statements on Monday from Russian and Iranian officials suggested Iran was backtracking.
“Iranian officials have informed Russian diplomats that the Russia proposal on setting up a joint venture remains in force,” Interfax quoted a Russian diplomatic source as saying.
“To put it bluntly, the Iranian Foreign Ministry has made a statement and the Supreme National Security Council has denied it,” the source said.
Iranian officials also tempered the earlier dismissal of the Russian offer.
“The Russian proposal should be reviewed with respect to the new developments,” said Hossein Entezami, spokesman for Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
“Tehran has repeatedly said that it welcomes any solution which could help to resolve Iran’s nuclear issue,” he told the official IRNA news agency.
RIGHT……
More stalling……The Iranians must be close to announcing they have a nuclear weapon. How long will the United States and Israel wait?
