Jeb Bush Says No to Florida U.S. Senate Run
President Geroge W. and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush will not run for the open Senate seat of Sen. Mel Martinez, he announced in a statement released moments ago.
“After thoughtful consideration, I have decided not to run for the United States Senate in 2010,” said Bush. “While the opportunity to serve my state and country during these turbulent and dynamic times is compelling, now is not the right time to return to elected office.”
Flap does not blame Jeb. The GOP will not have anywhere close to a majority in the Senate in the next few election cycles and Jeb can keep his powder dry for a possible Presidential run in 2016. Jeb already has the GOP cred and executive experience to run for the Presidency.
This is not the last we have heard from the Bush family.

I have to respectfully disagree. I think he should have run.
A) I think with the way things are going, a vulnerable selection in Illinois that will run again in 2010, a stupid selection in NY who will have to run again in 2010, Harry Reid could be in trouble, the Dems have no one to hide behind for the next election. I think the GOP could do some damage in 2010 and Jeb Bush would have been another take away.
B) Being in the Senate would have given him a good national stage to work from.
Good post.

Personally I would have put Bill Graham way above Jeb in the approval rating. Perhaps those outside of Tallahassee approved of Jeb because they didn’t have as much to lose with Jeb’s privatization plan that took money out of our state and gave it to his buddies elsewhere.

He definitely should have run. He is a completely different person to his brother and so should not be judged the same
