California Special Election Watch: Fundraising with the Stones

Flap previosuly had Arnold Schwarzenegger Watch: Nurses Needle Arnold at Stones Concert in Boston.

But, besides the small stalking protest by about 15 California nurses, it appears that California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger had fun, raised some campaign cash for the November California Special Election and, of course, received mention by the Stones Mick Jagger.

Reuters has Rolling Stones off to sizzling start in Boston.

The Rolling Stones kicked off their latest tour on Sunday with a flashy, high-energy concert at Boston’s Fenway Park that made no concession to the band’s more than four decades playing pounding rock ‘n’ roll.

Led by sinewy lead singer Mick Jagger, the band thrilled the sold-out crowd of 36,000 fans with a show loaded with time-tested favorites but sprinkled with new numbers from their soon-to-be-released album “A Bigger Bang.”

The concert opened with a bang, with fireworks and flames shooting up from the stage, as the band broke into “Start Me Up.”

And the Governor was mentioned………

Jagger made a joking reference to the presence at the show of California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was reported to have been soliciting wealthy political donors to join him in one of the baseball park’s luxury boxes.

“When we drove up, he was out front, scalping T-shirts and selling a few tickets,” Jagger joked.

And Schwarzenegger jokes……

Before the show, on an afternoon stroll through Boston, Schwarzenegger told Reuters he had seen the Stones many times and admired their “amazing energy.”

“Of course, they look a little different,” said the former bodybuilder. “We all do.”

And the mention in the Boston Globe’s celebrity news column.

Flap is sure Schwarzenegger’s nurse and public employee union friends will be watching ElectionTrack for the names of the lucky donors who watched the concert with the Governator.
