Iran Nuclear Watch: United States to Join Iran Nuclear Talks?
Supporters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran demonstrate in Parliament Square, in London. The United States is ready for the first time to join talks with Iran over its nuclear program provided Russia and China agree to sanctions if Tehran refuses to limit its atomic ambitions, diplomats told AFP.
ASSociated Press: U.S. Reportedly Ready to Join Iran Talks
The United States is ready to meet with Iran and other nations for talks on Tehran’s nuclear ambitions if the Islamic republic gives up uranium enrichment, diplomats said Wednesday.
But the diplomats, who requested anonymity because the information was confidential, said Washington would only do so if Russia and China agreed to back U.N. Security Council sanctions against Iran if it remains defiant on the enrichment issue.
So, after months of bluster has Iran suddenly decided to stand down their uranium enrichment program or merely move it underground into hidden facilities?
Is the agreement a ploy by the United States who has intelligence as to the location of Iranian clandestine nuclear facilities – who will then “rat out” Iran thus leading to automatic sanctions?
One of the diplomats told The Associated Press that the Bush administration was planning to make an official announcement on Washington’s conditional readiness to join in such talks later in the day.
The development is significant because the United States has had no official direct talks with the Iranians since the two countries cut diplomatic ties following the occupation of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran by radicals in 1979.
However, Tehran has repeatedly said it will not stop enriching uranium, and China and Russia have both said they oppose the use of sanctions against Iran.
This is an interesting development because it gives the United States and Israel ALL what it wants in the diplomatic process: cessation of Iran uranium enrichment and mandatory United Nations sanctions should Iran be discovered to have started uranium enrichment again.
All without firing a shot…….Iran “FLINCHES”
Now, what will President Ahmadinejad say?
Stay tuned……

The key point of the statement (at least my impression of it) is that as soon as Iran can demonstrate that it is a responsible member of the international community it can be treated as one. As long as it continues to pursue Nuclear weapons, and as long as it is the Primary state sponsor of terrorism in the world today they will be treated as the pariah it is.
