The latest web ad from the Romney campaign.
Flap somehow thinks that voters are tiring of Romney’s nasty and juvenile attacks.
How do you spell backfire?

McCain Surging in National and New Hampshire Polls
Presidential hopeful Sen. John McCain R-Ariz., speaks at a town hall meeting at the VFW in Laconia, N.H., Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008.
Two new polls show John McCain as the Comeback Kid:
Pew Research National GOP poll:
- McCain – 22%
- Giuliani – 20%
- Huckabee – 17%
- Romney -12%
The graph is stark in demonstrating Rudy’s decline and McCain’s and Huckabee’s ascent; Romney was flat:
In another New Hampshire ONLY poll – Suffolk Tracking, John McCain has SURGED to a 9 point lead over second place Mitt Romney:
- McCain – 32%
- Romney – 23%
- Giuliani – 11%
- Huckabee – 10%
- Undecided – 13%
The polls are all over the place and poll taking during the Christmas and New Years holidays and over weekends is always dicey at best.
Stay tuned……

One Term for McCain?
Presidential hopeful Sen. John McCain R-Ariz., pauses before an interview at the Tilt’n Diner in Tilton, N.H., Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008.
John McCain is too old to be elected President. Plain and simple.
The Money Quote:
- “If I said I was running for eight years, I’m not sure that would be a vote getter.”
If elected, McCain would be the oldest President ever inaugurated – older than Reagan.
Flap could see a McCain – Giuliani ticket with Rudy ready to assume the Presidency at a moments notice should McCain falter. But, I would think it would be in the back of everyone’s mind when voting in the general election.
McCain is also a melanoma survivor. Age demographics do not portend well for him.
Sorry, but these are facts.

Ed Rollins – The Boxer
What a photo from Matt Drudge.
Flap has met Ed Rollins, Mike Huckabee’s campaign guy and he would not want to be in a bar fight with the fellow.
Remember he ran Reagan’s re-election campaign.

Mike Huckabee Leaves Iowa for Burbank, California
Republican presidential candidate and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee (L) talks with actor Chuck Norris during a campaign rally in Des Moines, Iowa, January 1, 2008.
Why leave frigid Iowa for the 70 degree cozy confines of beautiful downtown Burbank, California on the eve of the Iowa Caucus?
The Tonight show with Jay Leno.
What is good for California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is good for the Huck.

Rudy Giuliani to Unveil New Four Point War Strategy
Republican presidential candidate and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani speaks during a campaign stop at the Fort Museum Opera House in Fort Dodge, Iowa, December 28, 2007.
Rudy Giuliani will unveil a new “War Strategy” today in New Hampshire, featuring a “SURGE” in Afghanistan. The Mayor shut out from the media frenzy surrounding the Iowa Caucus hopes to draw/redirect attention and put a stake through the heart of Mitt Romney (along with John McCain) in New Hampshire.
Specifically, Mr. Giuliani will call for a new military surge in Afghanistan, a change in the way America’s spies are promoted so that officers are rewarded for finding actionable intelligence and not just the number of agents they recruit, and a new war on Al Qaeda’s intricate network of Web sites, sites used both to communicate with its agents in the field and to recruit new jihadis.
Flap will have the video when Hizzoner delivers the speech this afternoon.

McCain Catches Romney in New Hampshire
Presidential hopeful Sen. John McCain R-Ariz., poses for a picture with Stephanie Polidoro 12, as her father Jack Polidoro takes the photo after a town hall meeting at the VFW in Laconia, N.H., Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008
John McCain has surged in the New Hampshire polls and is now tied with Mitt Romney. But, weekend polling and polling over holidays is always dicey at best. Here is the poll from CNN/WMUR anyway:
- John McCain 29% (22%)
- Mitt Romney 29% (34%)
- Rudy Giuliani 12% (16%)
- Mike Huckabee 10% (10%)
- Ron Paul 7% (5%)
- Duncan Hunter 2% (1%)
- Fred Thompson 2% (1%)
- No Opinion 8% (8%)
Survey of 439 likely Republican primary voters was conducted December 27-30. The margin of error is +/- 5 percentage points. Results from the poll conducted December 13-17 are in parentheses.

Mike Huckabee Watch: Who Would You Choose to Make a Pardon or Clemency Decision?
Anthony Circosta, a combat medic in Iraq, was promoted to first lieutenant and awarded a Bronze Star.
Mike Huckabee with the help of the Boston Globe asks who would you want as President to make a clemency or pardon decision?
Huckabee’s point is clear: Romney is so hardhearted and politically calculating that he would deny a deserving veteran a chance to improve his life just because “he wanted to brag that he never, ever gave out a pardon” when he ran for president.
This story is touching and the point is made.
Flap would choose Mike Huckabee with all of his “conservative” failings because Huckabee is REAL and Mitt Romney is NOT.
Mitt Romney is for Mitt Romney (a sanctimonious hard-ass) and is a Road to Nowhere for the GOP.
